Oh I don't know, it may have something to do with the recent playoff success or lack thereof. Were you not around in 2003, 2004, 2008, or 2009? Do you even Twins, bro?

Yeah, I was around for those games,  and yet I don't feel the need to shift the blame to the Yankees for our playoff failures.  What I noticed about those games is when we'd get the lead, we'd pucker up and pray not to loss as opposed to stepping on the Yankees throats.  Hard to win playing that way.  Like prevent defense in football. Those Twins teams seemed like they were in awe of the Yankees.  Gardy seemed to put them on a pedestal.  Then when we get the lead it's like, I can't believe we are winning against the Yankees, let's not mess this up.  They played better and played all 9 innings and won.

Great, Nunez is in at SS and Escobar's in LF. We've made our defense much worse now.

Watch us call up Danny Santana instead of Buxton...

One of my favorite things about baseball is watching the Yankees get eliminated from the playoffs.  Why?  It's simple, because of the competitive advantage that a large market team has.  They get revenue from the YES network...how much revenue?  $375 million.  Compare that to the Twins $29 million.

Let's say that you were a NASCAR racing team and you had that competitive advantage.  Think you wouldn't win?  Pick a sport.  Pick a business.  Pick anything you want.  Give me more than 10 times the resources at my disposal and tell me that I don't have an advantage.

Yankee fans would argue that those are the rules of baseball.  Yep, they are, but that doesn't make it right.  That is why I love the day when the Yankees are eliminated from the playoffs every year....all is right in the world on that day.

Hmm....could that mean???

They already said day to day for Hicks.  They should just call up Buxton, but if they don't want to put Hicks on the DL, I don't know who they'll move off of the roster.  I predict that they won't do anything for a few days.  Not that I agree with that approach.

Yankees fans would be right in their argument.  Hate the rules, not the team that plays within the rules to their advantage.  We wouldn't blame the Twins if MLB teams got rewarded for being ultra-conservative.

I reserve my strong dislike for the White Sox, myself.

Left hammy strain for Hicks.    Hmm....could that mean???

More Shane 'Cowbell' Robinson!    Fever cured!

DIck pointing out that the logical thing to do would be to call up Buxton.

One can't help but sense that he was preemptively contrasting that move with the 'logic' of the move that the Twins will eventually make.

Well, see, now they can promote Buxton and still keep Hunter playing somewhat regularly.  All is right with the world. (Come back soon Hicks!)

I don't have the time or the crayons to explain to you why most of this is irrelevant.

I'm sure you have plenty of crayons. Anyone who makes posts like that to someone just discussing the reasoning for disliking the Yankees so much over other teams likely has plenty of crayons along with juice boxes and lunchables in the fridge.

BTW, on the rare occasion I failed a test, I didn't blame the teacher, or the school, or the school district.  I blamed myself.

Actually, what I was looking for was a Jordan Schafer resigning.

Oh, i was just going for immediate effect on this game.

I'm sure it will have other repercussions...

In the meantime, Retribution, thy name is Nunez!

(but not all in one bat swing)

Oh, I have enough to go around for them and Detroit.

I agree, though Detroit is a newer dislike for me.  My White Sox dislike goes way back for me.

These Yes announcers are pretty even-keeled in their calling of the game.  Giving credit to opponents, complimenting some of the opponents, etc.  Talking about the actual game.  It's been surprisingly decent broadcast.

For some reason, I can't seem to dislike KC.  Might go back to George Brett and Freddy Patek.

Eduardo Inigo Nunez Montoya...   and the best part is... he is not left-handed!

Why I hate the Yankees -- I hate favorites.  I've always rooted for the underdog.  When the Yankees started winning in the late 90s, EVERYONE jumped on their bandwagon, especially the media.  At that time, cable hadn't quite exploded yet so every national game was the Yankees this and Yankees that.  National outlets like ESPN almost refused to acknowledge the existence of teams, especially that of the Twins.  So when the Twins got good again and had to face off with the big bad Yankees, it was like the little schoolyard kid finally trying to get his lunch money back.  And the way those games were lost just added fuel to the frustration of being the one that always gets kicked around.  Blowing late leads left and right by some of the dumbest ways possible, etc.  Not gonna rehash all of those.  But it also always felt like there was something else there, some intangible, that kept the Twins at an arm's length from the Yanks.  To me, there's nothing to like about that franchise and there likely never will be.  As I said after the A-Fraud 3-HR game that I had the 'pleasure' to attend, baseball was better last year when the Yankees sucked and A-Fraud was suspended.

On a different note, what the hell kind of name is Chasen Shreve?

The kind that's just slightly less embarrassing than Tamen Shrews.

Portugese? :-)

I initially though yiddish.  Either that, or he was supposed to be Chase, but the records office fat-fingered an "n" in there while going for the space bar.

Now that I say that, I am completely convinced that's exactly what happened.
