O'Rourke for Thompson

Interesting choice. His numbers in Rochester don't look so good (5.93 ERA, 4.6 BB/9), but if he's going to be a straight-up LOOGY, then I think he can be OK. I thought that Thielbar would be the move, but this is alright too.

I'm just happy they're trying a different guy.

Dating back to 2012, O'Rourke has faced 247 left-handed hitters in the minors. He has allowed 34 hits (.138 average) including one home run, with 115 strikeouts and 19 walks.

That is a 46% K-rate against LH batters.

If utilized correctly, this guy could be a lethal weapon.

It's about time.

Hopefully this solves the loogy issue and either may can become a lights out 8th inning guy (who can go 3 innings if needed) or they trade for an elite guy like papelbon. At this point the starting pitching is getting you somewhat deep into ball games with low runs scored against, having a couple of reliable guys beyond Perkins would go a long ways to make this a playoff team.
