Twins Outright Bernier

Was he DFA'd?  Is this to clear a spot on the 40-man roster?  I believe we're only at 39, including Buxton & Nolasco on the DL.  I assume this is a prelude to another move.  I can only see Fryer or ABWII as potential roster additions from the farm right now.  Guesses?

ABWII is in no way ready to be a MLB player. Fryer as a backup to Sukuzi? Maybe.

Maybe they're going to add Taylor Rogers and use him as a bullpen pitcher? I kind of doubt this, but we could really use some bullpen help.

Best wishes to Doug.  Seriously, who gets to live their dream for that long?   But they had to make room at AAA because they obviously need to give their players some time there.

I think Fryer is temporarily leaving Rochester to play in some tournament soon. Too lazy to look up the details.

 

Honestly, I'm not sure he does much to significantly change the Twins anyways.

After last night, he has to get a shot while they're still in the hunt.  Plus, Tonkin struck out 8 of 9 batters faced last night, sure would like to think that eventually he stats consistently enough to stick.  It would be nice to have a L-R reliable combination to compliment Fien in the late innings leading to Perkins.

Two different things being talked about now: who is on the 25-man (active, major league) roster, and who is on the 40-man. Meyer remains on the 40-man even while in Rochester.

Nope, not quite entirely accurate.  The Twins remain at 39 on the 40-man, another move is likely coming, possibly a waiver claim or a trade.  The other possibility is adding Rogers to the 40-man- he's scheduled to start for Rochester tomorrow.

Bernier remains in Rochester. Being outrighted isn't the same as being cut. He's just off the 40-man roster now, which means he was exposed to waiver claims by other teams for a time. He also could have declared himself a free agent. Apparently neither thing happened. They went through this with him last year too.

 

He played for the Wings yesterday.

Fryer is gone for a couple weeks to the Pan Am games.  Arcia is starting to hit again now if they want a LH bench bat.

Bernier's not going anywhere, cleared waivers (remember when some actually worried if he was exposed?) and still suiting up for the Wings.  He'll be coaching in the Twins system soon.

Reading some of the responses here makes me think some may need a bit of a refresher course on 25 man roster versus 40 man roster.

 

With Fryer doing the Pan Am thing, I'm hard pressed to come up with an internal move outside of Taylor Rogers. So....Rogers? Feliz? Some sort of trade? Hmm.....
