When do we cut Boyer?

Smoke and mirrors prior to tonight, no way someone like him should be in a high leverage situation moving fwd, also when do we cut him? We all know how it's going to end, the question is how many games we want him to blow... Do we do it after his era gets to 4.00? Or do we wait too long and wait for him to cost 3-4 games?

We might cut him when people stop overreacting.

Boyer...pfft.

The real question is, when do we make Graham the closer?

Graham has been closing for 3 scoreless innings in tonight's game.

I don't pay attention, but is this sarcasm or for real?  If sarcasm...haha, funny.

If real, does 20+ innings of scoreless baseball mean anything?  Or the fact that we are 13-5 this month, and Boyer has pitched amazing during that streak...also,

Isn't smoke and mirrors what pitching is?  If it wasn't smoke and mirrors wouldn't the pitcher just say..."Hey!  I'm fixin' to throw a fastball middle-in on this pitch."

I will assume sarcasm

It's called a reverse jinx, it worked for dozier, it's working for hunter and hopefully it will work here.

Fwiw: I'm one of the folks who took the twins at 75:1 and 100:1 in Vegas to win it all, and bet a nice amount on the over 70.5 wins. (Said they would win 79-84 wins in the pre season prediction thread)

I don't know if giving up a HR to one of the best player's in the league really helps the case much.

He's not particularly good but as long as they'll have the luxury of using him near the front of the bullpen, he won't be exposed too badly.

Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case with Fien out. He had a nice run, but did so with a sub-4.0 K/9. Even as a groundball guy -- and it's not really extreme with him -- it's going to be hard to keep up what he did.

He's the perfect kind of guy Terry should sign each year looking to flip in July for pieces he can use moving forward. The Sam Fulds of the world, and so on

Oh, Dave.  You fill the pen with what you've got.  No team's bullpen has 5 Craig Kimbrels and 2 Aroldis Chapmans.  Strange to single out a guy who's been mostly effective to this point.  Strange, but not unpredictable.

More to the point, when are we going to get rid of Molitor?   I am guessing his decision making has cost us a game or two.    Or how about Allen?  Nolasco and Hughes are both performing below their career averages.    May isn't matching his minor league numbers of a year ago.

I realize this is satire, but still better than Matt Capps, Jim Hoey, Eric Hacker, Kyle Waldrop, Phil Dumatrait, Dusty Hughes, Jeff Gray, Luis Perdomo, Matt Malony, Tyler Robertson, Alex Burnett, and more. I'll take him, even it if it isn't sustainable...

It's early in the season, so clearly it's still Rick Anderson's fault.

In all seriousness I would gladly get rid of nolasco at this point, if a team offered to pay half of his remaining salary I would send him on his way.

Also if the twins are going to contend they need to figure out/find a legit set up man or two. Maybe Meyer ultimately can fill that role later this season?

Boyer's peripherals are downright frightening but he keeps getting the job done. Until he stops getting the job done, I'll continue worrying about the guys who have terrible peripherals and fail to get the job done.

And there's a helluva lot more to worry about with the latter. The bullpen is chock full of smoking time bombs at the end of their fuses, Boyer's fuse is lit, we just don't know if it's a quick fuse or more of the slow-blow variety. Whatever the case, classic Terry Ryan bargain-bin success with red-headed stepchild RPs (pun intended).

Amen.

You can cut him if he's still standing in Round 12, but only if Creed swells both of his eyes up.  I wouldn't recommend it unless he's got a real shot at the title though.
