Nolasco is 3-1 with an ERA of 6.38

In his last three starts, his ERA is just about .50 runs lower than his career ERA. I understand we paid the guy some money, but right now he is the worst starter we have and I also understand  he has not gone deep into a game, but he is a 5th starter at best and he is 3-1. Does a 5th starter need to throw 7-8 innings to be valuable?  I would say that with what Gibby and May are getting for a check right now, we are coming out pretty well.

"He's a winner.  He inspires his team to do well.  That's why he wins games" - Joe Morgan

plenty of people believe stuff like this.

There's a reason Joe Morgan is about the biggest idiot in baseball broadcasting.

Harold Reynolds and Billy Ripken are starting to challenge for that title.

I was watching MLB Network tonight and they cut live to the Houston Toronto game. Runner on first, Encarnacion at the plate, Houston in a full shift with the second baseman just to the left of the bag, maybe 15 feet from it. Reynolds says something about "they shouldn't be shifting here because the second baseman can't make the turn on a DP ball." Some scoffing and disagreement, Reynolds sticks to his guns. And wouldn't you know it...ground ball to short. Altuve literally takes 4 steps, gets an easy flip from the SS, and doubles up Encarnacion by three steps.

It was some of the greatest live TV ever...as Reynolds sticks to his guns and doubles down on stupid, only now he changed to "it's too dangerous to take the throw while moving toward first base." I guess he never watched the SS's he played with all those years.

I tried googling it but I can't find a place that lists a record of what the pitcher did during their outing.  Anyone have a site that tracks that?

I was curious to see if Ricky was working backwards more than he had been previously.  (It seemed like a lot more off speed pitches last night)

Brooks baseball might be what you're looking for

It's amazing how professionals can watch a game for so many years but never actually see the game.

And then even more inexplicably, they're given jobs to talk about said game.

It's too bad Tom Kelly's health issues preclude him from taking any of the TV analyst shifts he had done the past few years. I know there are people who can't stand his admittedly dry delivery but his insight is second to none. I'm old enough to remember when another former manager, Frank Quilici, had the Twins radio gig with Herb Carneal, and that was probably the best radio twosome the Twins will ever have. Quilici used to correctly predict moves the managers would make.
