lightfoot789 Verified Member Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 With 3 of the Twins minor league affiliates starting their seasons today, I'm hoping for some updates as the day goes on. The Red Wings (2:05 EST), Lookouts (8:05 EST), and Kernels (7:30 EST) are all on MiLBTV today. UPDATES
nytwinsfan Provisional Member Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Seems like Miracle play today too at 6:30 Eastern. Are you sure it isn't 4 Twins minor league affiliates starting their season today?
Tibs Verified Member Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Has anyone ever got the MiLB.tv subscription? Just wondering if it is worth it
70charger Verified Member Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 I literally just got one today. I've had mlb.tv for the last few years (and I still do), but after these first couple games I kinda hit the panic button. I got the minor league package just in case I want to watch baseball that's actually good for a change. I'll let you know how it is, but I won't be around to watch it live on EEST.
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Meyer, Berrios, and Stewart all starting today. Should be a fun opening day.
Jeremy Nygaard Twins Daily Contributor Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 I subscribed today as well. Chattanooga's home games won't be televised, but I'd still consider it well worth it.
John Kelsey Verified Member Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Meyer's line: 5 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 6 BB, 3 K Aaron Hicks has a homer and two walks already from the leadoff spot.

I know a person should take the totality of the game, but for whatever it is worth, Meyers had given up 1 run thru 5 innings, and then walked the 1st 2 batters of the 6th inning and was taken out.............So even tho that is the correct line, even tho 4 walks thru 5 innings is too much, at the end of the 5th he was with 1 earned run.
maxisagod Verified Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 What is it about Meyer not getting past 5 innings? It feels like that happened a lot last year with too many pitches.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Jorge Polanco playing decent. 2-3, an RBI, a run, and a stolen base.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 I just bought milb.tv as well. It's pretty cool
adorduan Verified Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Hicks made a great catch in the first inning of the game today. A homer too. hope he can continue to play like that.
amjgt Verified Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 No Berrios.... It was Duffey. I predict Duffey never pitches a AA game again in his life.
amjgt Verified Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Bradin Hagins (not our guy), has 8 strikeouts through 3ip That's strong. As I was typing this he struck out another guy.... 9 strikeouts through 3.1ip
amjgt Verified Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Terry Ryan thinks he needs more seasoning, though.
adorduan Verified Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 A lot of hard hit balls off of Meyer today.
amjgt Verified Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Nick Burdi, starting off this year much like last year
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Nick Burdi, starting off this year much like last year I guess that means that he'll be lights out from this point on, then?
adorduan Verified Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 BOOM! Sano goes yard! 1 home run and 3 strike outs.
amjgt Verified Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 1 home run and 3 strike outs.and a walk fast math tells me.... 1.400 OPS

curt1965 Verified Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Lookouts struck out 20 times tonight in 9 innings-WOW!
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 A lot of hard hit balls off of Meyer today. How so? The box score says only 4 hits allowed, 3 singles and 1 double. 5 GB outs, 1 FB out. 1 ER allowed through 5 IP. Two runs scored in the 6th inning after he walked the first two batters and was pulled from the game, both of whom scored with Darnell pitching. It appears to be all about the 6 walks allowed, not hard hit balls.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 and a walk fast math tells me.... 1.400 OPS And a .400 OBP, I'll take it every time.
lightfoot789 Verified Member Posted April 10, 2015 Author Posted April 10, 2015 Lookouts lose 4-3 after leading 3-0 in bottom of 9th. Burdi in to close but walks too many. ERA @ 54.00 20 Strikeouts for Lookout batters. It was a Montgomery Biscuit team record. That means 20 of the games 27 outs were strikeouts. Crazy. Let's hope they got the jitters outs. On a positive note - Duffy was amazing with 10 K's thru 6.2 innings. Polanco looked very good with 2 hits and 2 stolen bases.

I believe Hicks homer was against a lefty which is great but I take it with a grain of salt. He is down there to prove he can hit from the left side..
Dantes929 Verified Member Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 What is it about Meyer not getting past 5 innings? It feels like that happened a lot last year with too many pitches. Part of that was by design in that he was on a reduced pitch count. Part is that he is a strikeout pitcher that also walks a lot of guys. Strikeouts and walks can take a lot of pitches. Meyer can walk more guys than most because he doesn't allow as many hits but 0 should be the goal and accept 3 or 4 per 9.

He's really not very far off being an AL average SP, today. Meyer's AAA stats for 2014 - K/9- 10.57 K%- 27.1% BB/9- 4.42 WHIP 1.38 BA .235 ERA/FIP 3.52/3.66 AL SP League Average 2014- K/9- 7.35 K%- 19.3% BB/9- 2.79 WHIP 1.29 BA .254 ERA/FIP 3.92/3.85 Steamer 2015 projection for Meyer- shows these areas of improvement, plus the projected ERA/FIP (all of which obviously would be aided with a slight uptick above their K/9 projection of 8.88- closer to 10)- BB/9- 3,89 WHIP 1.34 BA .238 ERA 4.01/FIP 3.79

I did. a rocket hit to SS for a double play in the first. hicks made a geat catch on ball driven to deep center in the first. the single in the second was a line drive that almost hit Meyer. the single to start the 3rd was a line drive up the middle that made Meyer duck. 1st out in the 4th was a line drive out to hicks in center.
