Brian, go to it! Double trouble! It suits you!

Interesting... I think the last time I wore a suit was 10 years ago. It wasn't for anything special. I wore it because we hadn't done laundry in awhile and it was all I had left.

Things to Think About:

1. Doubleheaders -- Doubleheaders are becoming a thing for our Twins. It's been said that two heads are better than one. Unless of course... You are a chef... in that case... Too many chefs spoil the Chicken Marsala. Two heads are also problematic for anybody born with two heads... I would have been happy with just one functioning head but two heads... especially two heads like mine wouldn't be ideal at all. The Twins are just like my head. You don't want two of them on Saturday afternoon.

2. 2015 Draft -- If the season ended right now... And wouldn't that be incredible if it did!!! If the season ended right now... The Twins would be drafting 5th overall just like last year... 5th when it should be 4th... However... The Astros didn't sign their draft pick this year and now they get the 2nd pick in 2015 to make up for that and this pushes everyone down a slot. I looked up one mock draft online... It stated that the Twins would get a High School OF named Daz Cameron. I can see it now Dazzle talking about Daz. Daz is the son of Mike Cameron and is projected to be the greatest player in the history of baseball. That sounds exciting but when I read projections... Everybody in the top 10 is supposed to be the greatest player in the history of baseball. Not everyone can be that... We all know that Joe Mauer is the greatest player in the history of baseball. So... I'm just going to assume it's hype.

3. AL Central -- As we watch the battle for last place... The Battle for 1st place has gotten interesting. The Royals should change their nickname to the roller coasters because that is what the KC Fans are on. They are the streakiest team in baseball... They get ungodly hot and then ungodly cold. They have lost 4 of their last 5 and this has allowed the Tigers to pass them by. The Royals have 16 games left to get hot again. The Tigers control their own destiny right now but somehow I believe it is up to the Royals. If the Royals want to take this thing they will.

4. Hughes and Milone -- Two pitchers starting for the Twins today... Polarity is what it's called... Hughes has been the best of our rotation and Milone has been the opposite. In fairness to Milone... he has been battling dead arm lately and you must assume that his arm has been revived because he's starting today. They should change the name... From Dead Arm to Critical Condition Arm or something. Maybe Walking Dead Arm.

5. Life on other Planets -- It has long been debated... Scientists have long searched for conclusive proof. Is there life on other planets? It would be awesome to find out for sure. What if we made contact? What if the creatures on those other planets are exactly like Carrot Top?

Uh Bri, Milone now has a sore neck and is scheduled to start Monday, but now that is in doubt.  Logan Darnell starts the nightcap.

Yes, the Royals are the Roller Coaster team.  They don't have much power and the hitting doesn't have a real high-percentage guy.  In fact, the leading hitter is Escobar at .274.  They remind me a lot of the last time the Padres contended, really good pitching and defense and not enough offense.

I can't speak for anyone else, but at the moment professional sports and the culture that surrounds it is pretty repellant to me.

And equally repellent are the MSM, social media outlets and special interest grievance groups that surrounds "professional sports and the culture that surrounds it", it was them after all, who largely built them up in the first place, rode the gravy train together with sports on the wave of popularity, only to gladly tear it all back down at the first opportunity, all in an effort to generate their own income-generating clicks, hits and extra rating points. And then they proceed to push, promote, politicize and sensationalize individual acts into what was once a purer form of sport, whether they be positive or negative (as important an issue as it is, do we really want or need to see football players wear pink for Breast Cancer Awareness for the entire month of October each season?), and finally deem themselves the self-appointed thought police, fashioned after their own brands of political correctness.  I prefer sports as strictly an entertainment niche, primarily as a respite from politics, culture wars and the day to day realities of life.

Was just watching a little of the Yankees-Baltimore game on Fox.  Delmon just pinch-hit.  Delmon was looking a little Ruebensque and grounded out (although ran pretty quickly to first), but if the announcers were accurate, sounds like he has been decent as a roleplayer (pinch-hitting -- not late inning defensive replacement).

We got something going with two on and none --- i mean one...  er, two outs.  Strike outs.  Hats off to Quintana, i guess.

I don't think i'll ever get used to it...

Well, you know what they say...it's one, two, three strikes you're out at the ol' ball game when Quintana's pitching.

Bert:  "Look at that waterfall."

I guess one needs a lot of medication to call a Twins/Sox doubleheader in September.

I would pull Hughes and save his arm for next year when the games might matter a lot more.  He is closing in on 195 innings and the outcome of this game seems unimportant compared with preserving his arm.
