Squirrel Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Game-time forecast: Partly cloudy. Winds blowing out to right field at 5-10 m.p.h. Temperature near 90. TWINS:SP, Nolasco Santana CFDozier 2BMauer DHVargas 1BPlouffe 3BParmelee RFNunez SSFryer CSchafer LF ORIOLES:SP, Chen Markakis RFLough LFJones CFCruz DHDavis 1BHardy SSParedes 3BFlaherty 2BJoseph C Okay, lineups in and up. Brian, your turn. ----------------------------------Roger That!!! Who is Roger? Things to Think About: 1. DH/1B -- Joe Mauer is playing his third straight game at DH while Kenny Plural starts again at 1B. To my understanding... this is just Gardy getting an extending look at Vargas as a 1B. Joe has a reported sore non throwing shoulder but according to Gardy... It's a non-issue or in professional medical terms a boo boo that wouldn't effect his play. Gardy is just using the situation to get Vargas some games at 1st and get a look at him. Gardy will file a report for the Twins 2015 manager. Just Kidding... Just Kidding... Just Kidding... It was a joke... Just Kidding... Just Kidding. 2. If it weren't for Bad Luck... I'd have no luck at all... Woe Despair and Agony on me -- It was announced that Alex Meyer was placed on the DL. This should end all speculation of seeing Meyer with the big club when rosters expand. It's shoulder inflammation which means that his shoulder caught fire I believe. Experts have stated that the Twins have one of the top farm systems in all of baseball... 2014 couldn't have gone worse. Sano out for the entire year. Buxton basically out for the entire year. Rosario misses the first 50 games... Meyer shutting down early. I believe Stewart had some issues. I'll sit back and wait for the injury to Nick Gordon. We really had lost a year... A complete year of development on some real key farmers. 3. Berrios -- However there is this kid called Berrios. He was called up to Rochester to make a key start for the Red Wings as they try to grab a playoff spot. He seems to be flying up the ladder. 4. Wei-Yin Chen -- The last time the Twins faced a Chen... They knocked him right out of the Majors and straight into Designated for Assignment. That Chen was Bruce... This Chen.. Wei-Yin which in Taiwanese means... There is a Tuna in my Socks. As you may have guessed... Wei-Yin is from Taiwan... Taiwan is an island just west of Santa Catalina Island... It is also East of Jamaica. He was signed by the Orioles as an international free agent and has been pitching for them since 2012. He's been slightly above average every year. He's gonna keep mixing up his speeds and after he mixes them up... he's gonna mix them up some more. He basically pitches like he's using a blender. He's the Fruit Smoothie of Pitchers. 5. Joining a Gym -- I have a gym membership but with my work and baseball watching schedule. It has become a self imposed $75 dollar monthly tax.

Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Fryer in, Zuke sits. If I got anything out of this season, the #1 thing is Zuke is one tough SOB!
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Berrios is starting for Rochester. This is a good fast track.
big dog Verified Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Look for Berrios to step on a banana peel and dislocate an ankle some time in the next 2 hours.

JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 So someone who is just a casual baseball fan says to me: "You know, I saw Worley pitching for Pittsburgh yesterday -- he didn't even look like the same player as he did with the Twins. What happens that they go elsewhere and get all this confidence?"

JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 That French Toast Marney is eating looks disgusting.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 2014 couldn't have gone worse. With our collective record of jinxes the past couple of days, I'd suggest you not go there. / in the spirit of other posters today, I now see...
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 Wow ... and Adam Dunn to the Athletics ... wonder if they needed another RP?
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Wow ... and Adam Dunn to the Athletics ... wonder if they needed another RP? A's have been on a bit of a skid .... needed to change something up. Wonder when Oakland will run out of relief pitchers to trade???
big dog Verified Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Oh, hush! You people need to learn the fine art of not sending jinxes out into the universe!I no longer believe in jinxes. This is just a horrible, horrible year. It's time to embrace that, acknowledge it, and instead of trying to avoid the bad, we should just welcome whatever little bit of good news comes our way. Adam Dunn??? Beane is panicking. He gave away the future to the Cubs to get Samardzia, now he's just throwing money away hoping to make his plan look smart.
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Mauer would have caught that
big dog Verified Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 That was a nice catch by Plouffe. The Oriole fans could have helped their team out- he was well into the seats when he got the ball.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Nice play, Plouffe .... all for waste.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 So it's 4-0... Maybe I can watch the big comeback.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Dozier the other way!!! He didn't mean to do it but I'll take it.
big dog Verified Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Trying to be positive...thinking hard...I got nothin'. Wait- we won't have to listen to Hawk yell and hoot about Adam Dunn home runs any more! OK, that wasn't much but it was something. Here's another- well, at least Hughes was a good free agent signing!
big dog Verified Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Trevor Plouffe, Player of the Hour! and RB's comeback starts.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 I Liked Dunn on the White Sox... Payroll drain for a guy who can't play D or make contact on non cookies,
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 10,000, 10,001.Don't forget 9,999... Only Plouffe is allowed to homer for awhile. It must be in his contract.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Adam Dunn??? Beane is panicking. Concur. Though he didn't give away much, and if his owner ok'ed the money then I don't care about that.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Bert just said "FaceTime" and "Skype." I'm impressed.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 10,000, 10,001.A one-man wrecking crew, if any wrecking were actually being done.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Beane has guts and he's all in for this year. He drained the farm for right now and it will have to be rebuilt later... He does rebuild frequently... In the coming years... He will trade Donaldson and others for prospects and start over. I don't think I'd have that type of guts but I sit back and marvel at it.
