I'll take the 2 rbis, and give up the runner in scoring position (i assume suzuki woulda been out at 1st if Plouffe had stayed put)

Just as i took the Shafer's diving catch for the 2nd out last inning, and didn't mind as much the misplay on the 3rd out, which turned out to be gotten in dramatic fashion on Arcia's throw.

But yeah.  Someday maybe we'll get everything right...

I'm watching the Indians broadcast (one of the few positive things about being a Twins fan in the Chicago region).  The infield hit wasn't all that close.  Aviles was deep in the hole and tried to throw from his knees.  He got nothing on the throw and the first baseman had to take a couple steps off the bag to catch it.  Vargas would have beaten it even if it had been accurate.  He definitely made it down the line faster than I thought he could.

My self-imposed ban for jinxing Hughes is over.  So far.

Thanks to all for showing up this afternoon. It really is a pleasure to follow the comments and occasionally participate in the hilarity. My wife doesn't understand why I do this. I tell her it's a little like we're all zombies lurching back to TD no matter what. Maybe a head shot would cure that.

He seems a bit faster than a man his size should be...

I thought the same thing.  The SS had to range pretty far to his right though.  Too bad this one wasn't broadcast back in Minny because it's actually been entertaining. Baserunning was frustrating, but I really like Vargas.

Nice win today - any time you get a strong seven innings from your starter, then a quick 8th and 9th from your bullpen is a good day.

No kidding.  And even real-life RBIs!  I almost forgot what that looked like.

Always good to see the young guys doing well at the plate, Santana and Vargas looking good.  Arcia was effective (2B, BB, RBI), but, boy, he still takes some bad hacks.

Edit: Speaking of bad hacks, Dozier needs to make some more contact or get more selective.  I feel like the high 4 seamer is being blown by him at shoulder level a little too often.

Doesnt Vargas have 3-4 infield singles now?  Maybe I am exaggerating but that seems like a lot for a man his size in this few of at bats.

Anyways, good to see Plouffe drive in a couple big runs.  While i'd like to see him hit home runs like he did a couple years ago, I'll take 35-40 doubles from him.

Carl! Carl!

BTW, all of Vargas' homer have been left-handed, is that right?

After today Hughsie is just 2 strikeouts shy of having a 10-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Dozier loves the high heat - maybe he's a bit fatigued, he was getting around on high fastballs for quite a few of his homers early in the year.
