-----------------------------

I'm off to work ... last day before vacation ... ending with a 3 1/2 hour performance of 'Marriage of Figaro.'  So, Brian ... top that?   :)

------------------------------

Umm... After the game today... I'm going shopping for Kuerig K-Cups. I also want to personally thank you for putting Figaro Figaro Figaro squarely in my head.

Things to Think About:

1. Figaro Figaro Figaro -- I had something else for thought number one but ChiTown has Pavorotti singing Figaro Figaro Figaro in my head and overwhelming that thought. I also have Bugs Bunny conducting the Rabbit of Seville in my mind. I'm very impressed with the ability of Bugs Bunny to tie Elmer Fudd's gun into a bowtie. That takes Super Rabbit Strength.

2. Tommy Milone -- He was thought number one but he got bumped down by Bugs Bunny. His first start with the Twins was a busy one. He allowed base traffic but wiggled out of it only to be burned by the long ball. It was a little bit of everything for Mr. Milone in start #1... Let's see how start #2 goes. Now... With the last name Milone... You can't help but think of Sam Malone from Cheers. Sam's nickname was May Day Milone and that would be an obvious fit for Tommy Milone. And oddly enough... May Day Milone sounds better then May Day May. In the End... Trevor can't have the nickname.

3. Jeremy Guthrie -- Jeremy is a 35 year old journeyman pitcher from Ashland Oregon. Ashland is a town of 20,000 on the extreme southern end of Oregon. This makes it the 15th largest city in Northern California. Ann Curry is also from Ashland. She is 22 years older and has a better TV presence. Jeremy pitched for Stanford and was drafted in the 1st round of the 2002 draft by the Cleveland Indians. He was DFA'd in 2006 and picked up by the Orioles. Traded to the Rockies in 2012 and then traded to the Royals in 2012. Jeremy is a Mormon. Billy Barty is also a Morman. Jeremy is taller.

4. Home Stand -- The Twins are at home and at home and at home and at home. Royals... Indians and Tigers... Bring it on.

5. Failure -- I was playing Monopoly against a child and I was going to win so I decided to throw the game so the child could win. In the end... I succeeded at failing and now I'm not sure if I failed or succeeded.

Okay, so, you are mixing your operas here, Brian.  That famous Figaro line you speak of really comes from Rossini's 'Barber of Seville,' so it works with the Bugs Bunny thing.  And maybe you knew that already, hence the tie in to Bugs.  (Which I approve wholeheartedly, btw; I love me some Bugs and all the music that was used by Warner Bros/Looney Tunes cartoons.)  Marriage of Figaro by Mozart, well, the opening to that is heard in the movie 'Trading Places' with Eddie Murphy and Dan Akroid.  I like that movie; still can laugh at it and with it.

I finally succeeded in loading Windows 8.1.

I think MS has pulled 8.1RT for now because of all the problems it caused.

Now to spend my afternoon re-installing programs and trying to get back to where I was on Thursday.

Oh joy, oh joy!

Any scheduled start time?

Didn't delve that deep ... as I'm at work ... bored ... as we're packing up for vacay.

Just saw hoping for 1:40 start time on Twitter.

Not actually raining, but the air is wet and heavy and you can practically feel the ozone. Should be a thunder boomer.

Looney Tunes is where I learned all my culture.

If it were the "The Barber of Philadelphia" I'd grasp it better...or... the "Marriage of Johnson".

At the game, and let me tell you. Seeing Kennys Vargas on tv doesn't do him justice. He is a behemoth of a human being.

Yeah, behemoth ... good word for him.  I've seen him at ST.

Things clearing up there?  The radar looks like more coming in.

Ya, I live about 10 miles away, not sure why they are delaying the game......radar shows nothing much either.

Radar looks like stuff coming in soon.

The first inning started so well...

Ah, we all remember that first inning so well. It was sweet.

Meantime, I've been thinking: Are the Twins a bad team? And my answer to myself is, no. They are an incomplete team. And we have too many days like today. But on the whole, I'm excited about this club and its potential. Man, if we can just get consistent starting pitching, that would be the difference in a dozen games and it would be us -- and not the KCRoyals -- in the hunt.

Sigh!!!!! (Mr. RB sez this is the preferred number of exclamations in the stylebook.)

I like your photo. Very cool.

Heh, that's me ... age 3? 4?  And while you can't really see it, that's a Twin's sweatshirt I'm wearing ... 1965 AL Champs.

Consistent with your post, Mauer has been looking good lately.
