There is a drug that would help him -- Inderol.  It blocks the production of adrenaline.

Oh... I was thinking Flintstone Chewable's.

Wish some of you urban dwellers were closer.

Farmers have so much sweet corn, they're going to end up chopping it for silage.  Most of 'em just grow enough for their families and some to give away but this year is an incredibly bumper crop.

I miss fresh sweet corn.

black Jack pointed out that May isn't following through towards the target

Exactly... He was stopping short and then he started to over compensate and that's when the ball was hitting the dirt.

It was like he forgot everything he ever learned that inning.

You need some adrenalin. I do not approve those things. People take them in my profession all the time.

Inderol is very popular with musicians and actors who suffer from "stage fright".  I have never been able to determine whether it is a banned substance for purposes of MLB.

I had a friend who stopped at a rest area and there was a corn field behind it. So he just plucked a bunch and went home.

He said it was the worst thing he's ever tried.

You wouldn't be missing it here.  I know one guy estimates he's going to be cutting about 3,000 ears.

Wish I could send it to you by telepathy!!!!

If it's used as a performance enhancer, which it is, whether or not it's a banned substance, I can't see how it's ethical to use it in competition like this.

LOL.  My mom made us try field corn when we were kids, just so we'd understand what a development that sweet corn was!!

That was probably corn being grown for ethanol.

Did anyone tell him you don't smoke it?

That was grounds for child abuse charges. Yuck.

An argument can be made that this is not an enhancer at all.  Some people suffer from an abnormally high level of adrenaline when they are under stress.  Inderal takes them back to a more normal level of adrenaline.  It does not make them stronger or faster.  And in the case of a musician, it does not make him/her play any better than in rehearsal.

My sense is that Inderal is benign and should be allowed.  I am wondering what makes you think that it is bad.  Have you seen musicians suffer and side effects?

The Grateful Dead never used such things.

I made my sons try Ghost Chilis so they'd appreciate the Broccoli.

Like many As fans, they had easy access to high quality marijuana.

Probably not since I doubt the 4 of us even finished 1/2 an ear.

We'd get these odd little lessons from time to time ... like cooking nettles (not stinging ones) and other greens.

Probably why I've never understood how Southerners can actually like collard greens.

Have you noticed at the MN state fair, the sweet corn is the variety for cannery production? The ears are huge!

And good on a stick. Probably won't make it to the fair this year. Maybe Ren Fest.

Then this year they'll probably be gigantic.

Perfect growing conditions this summer ...  and plenty of moisture.  Crop a little later than usual.
