Gibby Provisional Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 I've been enjoying the game today, so I'm a little reluctant to throw out something negative...but TK is really bugging me today. It's not that he's doing anything different, just his normal stuff. But it bugs me. Here are my thoughts. 1) Baseball is a joyful game...you can feel the joy that we all get from baseball in these game threads. But TK is joyless. I understand his deal is "never too high, never too low", but when the rookie drives in four runs with some great at bats, loosen up a little! God, his droning is difficult to listen to. 2) TK is a dinosaur. Last night you could just feel the pain in his voice every time Houston shifted on defense. He just doesn't want to accept the evidence of its effectiveness. I admire TK's knowledge of the game, in general, but his Luddite-ness has rubbed off on Gardy, and hurts the team. 3) I hate it when he starts a sentence with "Again". It's so dismissive. It's like he's saying "I've told you this so many times, but you baseball mortals just don't get it" What's wrong with me? Ranting during a 7-0 game. I don't know...he's just rubbing me the wrong way. I'm looking forward to silly Bert returning! And now, since baseball is always a joyful experience for me, I'm going to head down to my favorite batting cage in south LA and take a few swings! I can appreciate this. I love the guy because he actually brought the state, not one, but two world championships. He could fart in my living room and I wouldn't bat an eye. I'm looking forward to silly Bert too.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Not the most graceful inning, but no damage done.
JB_Iowa Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Can't believe it's only the bottom of the 5th.

And he can be inciteful. I just want him to have more fun!
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 My brother got me a Gardy gnome! I'm so happy! The special limited edition one.

LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Well, all that you found that day ... 'Processed' or not, recovery/reassembly never crossed my mind. Just how much I could sell him for before the acquaintance-not-friend owners returned home.
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Let's not criticize my second favorite AL team until the game is over. I remember Milwaukee down four and winning by three earlier this week. I'm a worrier. Even up 7, I'm still mindful of the time Morneau hit a slam, and we were up 12-2 on the A's, and they came back to win 13-12. (Guess who was pitching? Blackburn.) And Houston scored 7 in the 9th against Baltimore, I believe, earlier this year and came up a run short. Anything's possible in base-uh-ball.
longstrangetrip Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 You might need to go demonstrate FUN for him. You know, I tried ten years ago when I golfed with him and Dark Star. Dark was a gas, but TK was as dull on the golf course as he is in the booth. Fun to talk baseball with him though. He said if he could have had the raw talent of any player he ever coached, he would choose Jacques Jones.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted June 7, 2014 Author Posted June 7, 2014 Dozier!! He could supply all the web gems in a single game!
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 He was probably just trying to improve his appearance and correct his overbite.Personally, my priority would have been the breath and the wrecking-ball tail wag, but yeah, maybe it was a self-image thing. Then again, the attempted Frisbee consumption makes me wonder...
Tibs Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Yeah keep hitting them to Dozier. That should work out well for us
glunn Community Moderator Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 It would be nice to wear out the Astros' bullpen, so that they have limited options tomorrow.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Dozier!! He could supply all the web gems in a single game! His all-around game is looking great, but I'm especially relieved to see that he continues to improve on one of the harder things about the transition from short, which is the positioning and timing to protect himself from the attempted DP breakup on his throws to first. Stay healthy, Brian!
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 It would be nice to wear out the Astros' bullpen, so that they have limited options tomorrow. That's been one of the more impressive and surprising things about the 2014 Twins. Even when they don't score a bunch, they seem to be seeing a whole lot of pitches, 175+, in more than their fair share of games.
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 I remember being very depressed after that loss against the A's. Thanks for reminding me. You're welcome. That game haunts me to this day.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 100 pitches for Gibby. Hoping there's going to be activity in the pen soon, so 7-0 doesn't turn to 7-4, and his great game turns to 'ok'. Edit: ERA below 4, peripherals trending better, good day for him. Hope it's done. So does Kelly. 'Leave on a high note'. Yes, please. He's earned it.
Gibby Provisional Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 TK is for breast cancer and the women. classic.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Gold glove for Gibson. And no 'best athletes on the field' from Bert as a bonus...
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted June 7, 2014 Author Posted June 7, 2014 TK is for breast cancer and the women. classic. Er ... and? that's a bad thing?
Gibby Provisional Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Er ... and? that's a bad thing? No, I was appreciating the awkwardness of his delivery.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 No, I was appreciating the awkwardness of his delivery. Just like Luis Tiant. Or Juan Marichal.
Tibs Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 What a day for Santana. He has been hitting well lately
cmathewson Provisional Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Who saw this Santana thing coming? En Fuego!
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 No, I was appreciating the awkwardness of his delivery. Yeah, it wasn't "Practice their love" bad, it was just... awkward. Rainy day text from friend at the lake... "How can a big win be this hard to watch?" Suggested filtering out anything not having to do with 'Dozier' or 'Santana'
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Just like Luis Tiant. Or Juan Marichal. But with less velocity. And inflection.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Captain Sir Jared Francis Burton.
