  1. Slow as in 2000 & 2001 with Twins Hall of Famer Johan Santana?
  2. I listened to Randball's podcast introducing the new Twins beat writer for the Strib, Bobby Nightengale Jr. Apparently he has covered the Reds. He said the Reds struggled with trying to get Gray past the 5th inning. Early in his career with the A's, back in 2014 & 2015 he averaged about 6.7 innings a start. By 2019, an excellent season with the Reds, that was down to about 5.6 innings per start. That's about where we sit now. Sonny is solidly built, keeps himself in great shape and the intense competitor knows how to pitch. He is, however, a 33 year old 5' 10" starting pitcher.
  3. Camargo is fun to watch. I've had my eye on him since Seth's video, I think about a year ago. Tons of personality, this is a guy who could add a spark to any team. The best home run trot in the system.
  4. True the margins right now are tiny. On the other hand during this 5 game losing streak the mood around here was not good including my frustrated ranting. When we do win, and especially against top teams which has been our MO this year, how's about we just enjoy it?
  5. Lewis 4 for 4 without hitting the ball hard. Guess things do even out. Nice to win one in this fashion after being on the other end of this scenario many times. Duran not only has crazy stuff, the man is clutch. Back to 500, let's get on a roll here.
  6. A win is a win. Don't you feel like things have gone the other way, so why go there?
  7. Duran 2nd and 3rd no outs, no problem
  8. Lucky, c'mon now that was just a freaking W nothing else
  9. Hey they made the move and Kepler is now the fourth outfielder? I kid, I kid. Garlick instead of Wallner....I do not like. I was excited for more platooning this year, but this ridiculous nonsense has alleviated me of that condition. Kirilloff could be a generational hitting savant. Yep platoon that sucker. Well Kikuchi should get a chance to get locked in against right handed batters. Obviously this will be the game they win.
  10. Ha ha yep that's over the top. You are missing Farmer, so in your scenario I would swap Farmer for Lee. It's too early to mess with that guy, but the rest of it? Could be fun to watch.
  11. This is where I'm at. ^^^ Here is Max per the Strib, "There are things we have to work on. There are things we have to be more patient with," said Max Kepler, whose 0-for-2 leaves him with a .189 average for the season. "I think we're going to hit it on the nose in the near future. At least, I really hope we do, because we work [hard] off the field. But it's baseball." But it's baseball? No Max it's bad baseball. This team needs a jolt. As much as it pains me to say, DFA Max today. Bring up Wallner. Jeffers is going well, keep playing him. Buxton and Polo always come off the IL hot because when they are feeling good their considerable skills shine through. If they aren't 100%, react quickly and IL them. Polo is dinged again. IL him and bring up the Frenchman. If Miranda gets hot, find a place for the hot bat. I've watched this team through thick and thin. Even last September I would watch when Ryan or Ober pitched. Let's react more quickly, play the hot bats, get the young guys up. Maybe then I will keep watching.
  12. The new look Pablo performed well. Very determined outing that bodes well for the future.
  13. This is what breaks the deal for me with Kepler. Bench, trade or DFA and call up Wallner, nothing else is acceptable. Edit: If these rumors we've been hearing for the last couple of years are true.
  14. Sorry didn't mean to be snarky and my comment wasn't directed solely at you, should have made that clear.
  15. For a guy who doesn't want to see anybody lose their jobs, your plan sure involves many getting fired. Firing a staff mid-season is a desperation move. If you were in a upper management meeting and suggested this for a team in first place, you might find yourself heading to human resources, lol. The time for a major change of course is in the off-season. Constant clamoring for people's heads during the season, especially a team in the Twins position, is just hystrionics.
  16. Going to battle with a beast from the east with Donnie Barrels at DH.... Kepler at 7th is a start
  17. Oh yeah I'm good, I know when I expressed these frustrations with Kepler that it could be taken as disrespect. Just look at the young man, there is not doubt be has exhibited a stellar work ethic. I've rooted for him for years, but his performance and unwillingness to shift to a role that better fits his proven performance level make me believe he is now hurting the team.
  18. Thanks Mike. As to your suggestion about loving your job, I think the 10,000 hour theory for excelling at something applies here. Maybe not love always, but obsession always.
  19. Frustrated fan acknowledges your point. The part about choosing the wrong sport was reported. I will also add that he has resisted playing center. And, does he really seem like he is fired up and enjoying himself? I guess I'm doubling down, lol
  20. A leader would recognize that Wallner was super hot and helping the team and ask for a rehab assignment to get his bat tuned in to actually help the team when he did return. A leader would recognize that his bat is not playing in the corners and volunteer for a strong side center field platoon role and the bottom of the lineup. A leader wouldn't first lament that maybe he chose the wrong sport (futbol) then continue to futilely, and listlessly plod forward in the same unsuccessful manner collecting large paychecks along the way. I'm sorry I always liked Max. My question, do you think Max Kepler LOVES baseball? Because to be successful in this difficult sport, that is the prerequisite.
  21. Consider the Twins record against teams like the Yankees and Astros this year. Looks like they are competing.
  22. This is why the are similar stories to this one for every team. The system is set up in a way that results in just this exact thing happening over and over. But we can all gripe, lol. My gripes are Anderson. They never gave him a chance. Maybe they didn't trust him because of his turbulent past, but then why sign him in the first place? And especially Tyler Wells. I watched him coming up and was very excited about him. C'mon man.
