  1. Yes I agree I was just saying it would've been great if that option had been available. It's definitely a surprise but Headrick is looking the best in St Paul right now. SWR, not so much.
  2. I agree I would keep Headrick stretched out and resist the temptation to call him up as the long man. He is looking like the best option down in St Paul.
  3. Yes agreed the long man is only going to work out things fall right for you. They didn't yesterday and we were left with the choice of sending out Gray or counting on the pen for more than half the game. That is a rough position to be in and likely wouldn't have worked out either way.
  4. I would've sent Gray out for the 5th, 5 innings is a big ask from the pen. Now if they had a long man available, like the Headrick we saw earlier, then by all means get Gray out of there.
  5. It's strange how two people can observe the same situation and perceive it in a completely different manner. It is like we are watching two different movies. There is one sentiment in there I agree with, wanting to see the young players play, but they have played. Yes Kirilloff has had a couple of days off. Why is that? Poor management? Not my first conclusion. Anyway after starting off looking like a batting genius he has scuffled lately. There have been some terrible calls by the ump no doubt but that isn't the whole story. Hope this is not health related and just MLB doing it's thing. Seems it is a struggle with the ever changing strike zone.
  6. I'm thinking something along those lines. I'm guessing it is largely due to injury risk.
  7. Losing the first game in a four game set to the Kitties is less than ideal. I have other mini complaints but choose to focus on something else for the duration of this evening, good night
  8. On a scale of 1 to 100 I give this comment a 92.1ROCK
  9. Rona Barrett would take this story and run with it!
  10. Edit: Oops I forgot what thread I was on. Not supposed to discuss here.
  11. Agreed. Overall the pen is not being overworked. Credit to management and the rotation. They are using Duran like the weapon he is. Squeeze as many wins out of him as you can. One thing I'm looking for this year is to be strong at season's end, no limping into the playoffs as has been the case in recent trips to the post-season.
  12. Very nice win and having our all-star SS back from the abyss in just what this team needs to turn this home stand into a launching pad!
  13. I don't want to be mean, but I like seeing Garlick's name in these reports.
  14. To all those talking about sending these interlopers back to Milwaukee without their money etc, I hate to tell you but many of them live among you right there in the Twin Cities, lol.
  15. Julien gets a break from worrying about his play in the field and can just swing that sweet bat. This is an example of why it's nice not to have one guy clogging up DH.
  16. This is where I stand. If you can get some bullpen help while also managing your 40, that's the outcome I'm looking for. Yes Pagan and Kepler should be removed from the equation which I think would be a good message to the team.
  17. No jokes, but is this a reasoned opinion? They are at 33-33. They are in first place in a bad division. Their record against teams that currently have a winning record is 17-20. The Twins have just completed the toughest part of their schedule, the part that at the beginning of the year was said would tell us much about this team. What do we know? We have a very good rotation. We have a middle of the road bullpen. The lineup is slightly below average by results so far. From here on out the Twins have, by clear margins, the easiest remaining schedule in MLB. At the beginning of the season most would've taken a 500 record at this point. They are in the driver's seat. At this point based on results the best description of this team compared to the league, not a fan's expectations, is mediocre. This team has some exciting young talent Kirilloff, Lewis, Julien, Wallner and maybe even Miranda and Larnach who along with the 2 highly paid stars Buxton and Correa, they could turn this thing around. They will not be selling. I would not buy either with the exception of a reliever. If the Twins are going to be successful it will be because the starters held up, the pen was tweaked enough and most importantly, the lineup turns it around. It could happen and it's why I will be watching the second two thirds of the season.
  18. Well let's see, starting with one of their first trades, Jake Odorizzi for Jermaine Palacios, who they got back later for free, through Johan Duran for a couple of months of Escobar on through two years of the quality MLB starting pitching from Sonny Gray and a possible compensation pick via the qualifying offer which would be essentially the equivalent pick they gave up to get him. Fleeced? Maybe not every time, eh?
  19. This is my biggest frustration with management.
  20. I'm sold. I was playing checkers while Mr Lease was playing chess, bravo.
  21. Yes I said ALCS for this team's ceiling because they could make the playoffs and then anything could happen. Unlikely. A deadline bullpen arm at minimum and some more decisive roster management to spark this club. Maximize the healthy, performing talent on the field at all times. Some hard decisions must be made.
  22. I agree with your first statement. If you want to beat good teams you have to make the plays that are there. The Jays got their double plays 3 out of the first 4 innings, they didn't mess up. I think it is way too early give up on Julien in the field. He can be a great sparkplug for this team, what does worry me is he seems to have a hard time moving on after a bad play in the field.
