  1. There have gotta be some moves today, right?
  2. "I TOLD YOU TO TOSS THAT F'IN EGG SOLDIER!! NOW GET DOWN AND GIVE ME FIFTY AND SOMEONE HOLD HIS G'DAMN EGG!! ARRRGGG!!
  3. Is Team Inertia gonna break the spell!?
  4. I watch almost every game, usually on a DVR delay. Sometimes I'll listen on the excellent MLB at bat app, listening to other broadcast teams. Like last night after that first inning I was about 5 innings behind I just skipped ahead to live and just kept one eye on it in case of a miracle, lol. When it's going really bad I'll admit I don't want to watch. This team needs a shakeup, it's long overdue. The lack of quick in-season adjustments has soured me on this FO and they may lose my interest the rest of the way.
  5. Man it sure is nice to dream on the future Twins when the present is like this
  6. I agree with your whole post and you are correct. That being said when a guy like him is flashing and you know the work he is putting in, I don't want to just dismiss him out of hand. That is why I copied your last paragraph. I would love to watch that play out, especially with the way this lineup is going.
  7. This is a good point. If you look at Keirsey's recent performance, he is really flashing. Age isn't everything. There are many examples of late bloomers, the Twins have familiarity with the ultimate example, Nelson Cruz. They may be outliers, but they do exist. I get excited about guys like Dashawn. This squad could use more athleticism.
  8. Everybody duck!!! Hit the deck!! Incoming!
  9. Reusse doles out one BS take after another with the sole intent of riling up the fan base. Lacking in substance that's all he's got. As an astute observer of baseball, how many times do you actually agree with anything that comes out of his mouth? As a comedian and local character I guess he has a place in a sports market where the other media members are playing it straight, but that's about it. Edit: I'll add that he is at least partially responsible for the mess that is the Strib sports comments.
  10. To be fair the bear does look quite cuddly
  11. There is some truth to this, he can improve and I hope he does. I'm a little sceptical because he's been doing this his whole life, doesn't seem to have great hands and I'm questioning his instincts. I'll continue to root for him during his first stint under the bright lights because there is a whole lot to like with this guy. This is a good point, but if Jeffer's bat keeps playing like this, slot him some at DH.
  12. I can't tell if I bristle from this suggestion because of a long ago domestic violence incident or his long time as a member of the Evil Empire. The domestic incident was about 8 years ago when he was a much younger man. On the one hand no charges were filed on the other that is common in domestic abuse cases. I think he is still with the mother of his children and now wife, so she apparently has forgiven him. It was also reported that he had begun doing volunteer work with youth in NY before his departure. Of course what I think carries absolutely zero weight here. A quick look at his Baseball Reference page and his stats look pretty good with his strikeout rate through the roof. He only has .3 WPA compared to Duran's 1.8, but some of that may be due to the less competitive team he is on. He did twice end Yankee post-season runs by giving up homers. While he did carry the Cubs to the brink of a championship with an iron man performance, he gave up the lead in the deciding game, but held on to the tie as his teammates came back giving him the win and a WS championship. Ok go get him
  13. The Twins are paying him the MLB minimum, $750k, for just this reason. They get him back at AAA for depth. He will gladly do what they say so he gets to be a AAAA guy getting paid like a MLB guy.
  14. Yeah because Rocco is just kind of figuring out this baseball thing. It's not like this is all he has done his whole life and decided to forego a college education to pursue.
  15. Reusse from the article, "I've liked the new, feisty Rocco of 2023 getting tossed from a game once in a while and making more bold moves, even when mysterious. Baldelli is a better manager now than when he was the Manager of the Year."
  16. Lorenzen is super jacked up. Obviously the guy hits the weights hard. I didn't think that kind of muscle mass was beneficial for pitchers.
  17. Maybe Kepler has lost his starting role. Isn't that at least partly what we all wanted?
  18. The Twins coaches catch a lot of flack. How's about some praise, Hank Conger seems to excel in all his roles. Funny guy too apparently.
  19. Yes I have given up on the Strib comments, but do have a few gawker slow down peaks at it now and then. The sports section has always been very good IMO. For baseball Phil Miller has always been quietly good at this job. LEN 111 was.... Entertaining? Lol. The new beat writer is Bobby Nightingale Jr, but I haven't formed an opinion of him yet.
  20. The Old Scribe (Reusse) has a moment of clarity and praises Rocco. https://www.startribune.com/rocco-baldelli-minnesota-twins-manager-of-the-year-coaches-2023/600285122/ I then had a look at the comments in the dreaded Strib comments section. Oh my lordy was the anti-Rocco sentiment just inflamed. One comment, "I just can't stand the sight of him", lol. Huh? Rather look at Gardy? 😂. Well Reusse has a hand in creating this boiling pot of soup and now is just enjoying himself stirring said pot. As long as you're having a good time Patrick, lol.
