  1. I'm sorry but that is one foul dancing corpse, hard to look at, ish.
  2. He handled that pretty well last year in the playoffs even in his second start against a proven playoff lineup.
  3. As Steve is pointing about above and Festa has spoken about, the margin for error at the MLB level is tough as hell. You could see it in Festa's last outing. He panicked a little because Cleveland's hitters require excellent command (as do all good teams), and the next step for a young hurler is to quickly determine what they have that day and make it work. Rocco pulled Festa early this time but I don't think it was a negative experience for him. Similarly Zebulon will quickly find himself in the same position to figure out how to put the best away. I wish him well. Cleveland has suffered many injuries to their staff. The Twins are no different. What is different is the Twins finally appear to have viable young options, I'm loving it however it turns out.
  4. Our pitchers are just working much harder
  5. What can't Audra do? Hard boiled sideline reporting, quirky food reviews and world class pipes. You go girl
  6. Cleveland's timely slump has put the Twins in a good spot here. Lewis and Miranda hit some BB's, let's go!
  7. Another creative piece of writing by Mr Trueblood! A wordsmith he is. It's hilarious to me that people find something to complain about with an article like this. This shite is fun, you've got a big series at the beginning of the stretch run. This is exactly the kind of game this long suffering Twins fan has been craving. Hype me up man, hype me up!
  8. Super nice to see Simeon bounce back from from the last 2 outings. Winder has looked much better his last 2 times out. That is unexpected.
  9. It is good to hear that this injury is not likely to present long term problems for Joe. Labrum and rotator cuff injuries seem to be the worst for pitchers.
  10. This is a rare football preseason that's worth watching. JJ and Dallas look pretty good to me.
  11. "Keaschall joins Matt Wallner and Miguel Sanó among Twins position player prospects to have the procedure done." I didn't know about Wallner, but Alex Kirilloff had the procedure as well.
  12. Agreed, same with the "low leverage long man" that sits on the end of the bench for a week waiting for the perfect opportunity effectively reducing your pen to 7 arms.
  13. Couldn't ask for a better start to a crucial series. In spite of the injuries there is available talent. I'm looking forward to watching these young pitchers in tough spots. Will the young, and especially the veteran, fielders back these guys up properly? You don't want any pitcher forced to get 4 or 5 outs in an inning. Big moment for SWR, can he bounce back from some scuffles?
  14. I meant to add that "suffering" through one mid-game plate appearance against a lefty reliever by one of our young left-handed hitters likely doesn't hurt more than the impact of a mediocre right-handed veteran batter facing a tough righty reliever in a crucial late game situation.
  15. I agree with this and especially dislike the early game PHing robbing a hot Wallner of late game opportunities against rightys.
  16. Regarding Luke Keaschall as reported by Bobby Nightingale, who has been a great addition to the Strib, “He did have an elbow injury that was diagnosed a while back that, ultimately, we knew would eventually require a Tommy John surgery,” said Derek Falvey, the Twins’ president of baseball operations. “He’s played through it and could play through it for a while. We made the determination a little while back now, knowing our timing, to go ahead and proceed with that surgery now, because we knew he’d need it in the offseason.” This is why they had him at 1 St and DH so often. Letting him rake the way he did will be a good confidence boost for him entering next season.
  17. You ain't kidding, Stewart going down is one thing, almost probable, but Joe? Say it ain't so. And Keaschall. Rocco's teams sure show resiliency, thankfully.
  18. K Culpepper says man this is easy, nice start, really for all the new guys. Raya is getting deeper, but where are the K's? The Keaschall news is a huge bummer. Injuries system wide are getting tough to take, gah!
  19. This opinion is based on what? He is at 2.9 WAR right now. Based on Fangraphs calculations, 1 WAR costs over $8 million in the latest free agency period. At those prices Byron has already generated $24 million in value. By that measure his $15 million dollar contract looks like a bargain. At this pace he will top 4 WAR or more than twice his contract at over $32 million. I think this valuation method produces the absolute top retail price for a player. Not many teams could afford to completely fill out their roster at these prices. It does give context to a contract like Buxton's. Look at it this way, the Twins are getting a veteran Byron Buxton at a 50% discount over retail right now.
