  1. Lewis can't even handle 3rd. He is not a major league short stop. Now Lee can be average or better at short and above average at 3rd and 2nd.
  2. Were people actually paying attention during the decade before the Twin's makeover? Maybe some are just never happy. Maybe it's just nostalgia. Grasping at straws to understand here but from where I sit this organization is vastly improved from top to bottom (well except the very top, ownership). I wouldn't be surprised if Falvey and his family like it here and want to stay. Also that part of what Falvey likes about this job is the challenge of succeeding with a mid-market team. He actually has an advantage over one of his chief rivals in payroll, Cleveland where he came from, and I don't see management there jumping ship even though they are in a tougher position. Falvey isn't going anywhere, I'd guess in his eyes the job here is not yet done.
  3. I rarely express an opinion on Rocco Baldelli. I do speak up when blaming him for everything threatens to dominate every discussion probably because it just annoys me. Nothing personal. Not that it matters, I don't like many decisions made by Rocco, the 3rd base coach lol, the front office and or ownership.
  4. There is no path to victory for Rocco Baldelli, eh? I mean give it a rest Chief. Look at it this way, he still didn't break 90 pitches, forget about the innings or time through the lineup and nothing was different. Or just look at it anyway you want and come back to the same damn conclusion, everytime.
  5. I don't have an opinion yet. As time goes on or if Baldelli's tenure ends, then that would be a better time to judge. Now if his team does something big in the playoffs, maybe revisit it. The early strict platooning of lefties is hard to take. They seem to have adjusted their all our nothing approach at the plate, maybe they will end the terrible platooning and end the low level veteran right on right late game plate appearances. That and don't hang onto under performing mediocre vets when there is a young player with more upside languishing in the minors. Those are my biggest beefs.
  6. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Which staffs have had the most members poached? Tom Kelly it was the golden boy GM. Gardy, nada. Rocco Baldelli, too many to list from all parts of the staff. Is this telling?
  7. Is winning percentage a good metric for judging the manager?
  8. This is another good option for him, especially considering all the left-handed outfield bats the Twins have up and down the system.
  9. Martin has a chance to be a regular contributor. I agree with others that the Twins penchant for keeping players at SS in the minors when it is clear they don't have a future there, doesn't allow the player necessary reps at positions they may actually play. The bright side is with more work Martin has room to grow as an outfielder and 2nd baseman. Martin played 3rd for a top college team. This is a scouting report on his arm from Prospects Live, "Arm: Martin's troublesome tool, if that phrase exists, is the arm. His raw arm strength is solid average and totally fine, but the consistency of his throwing mechanics led to some bouts of wildness, which made scouts question his utility on the infield. We didn't get to see much in 2020 to make final determinations, but all signs point to Martin's arm being a totally fine tool that'll allow him to play the left side. Grade: 50Grades Update: Mar 2021 OFP Role Hit Power Field Arm Run 55 60 70 50 55 50 50" For what it's worth Baseball America had this Hit: 55. Power: 30. Field: 55. Run: 60, but I couldn't see the rest without a subscription. Martin suffered a partially torn UCL in spring training of 2023 and opted for rehab over surgery returning in July of that year. Being that he is now more than a year removed from that injury, if I was him I would pester Jeffers about getting on the same arm strength program Ryan did the off-season before last. Better jumps and an improved arm and we might just have something here. Oh and PAY ATTENTION ON THE BASES ALL THE TIME. lol
  10. Good idea, Lee is better at 3rd. Lewis has gotten hurt walking on an icy sidewalk, playing center field, swinging a bat and running the bases. Slides into second to break up the double play don't happen anymore. He either will be healthy or not, where he plays doesn't matter from a health perspective. Play him where he helps the team the most. Letting Lee make the throws from 3rd helps the team.
  11. It is even brutal up here in the air conditioned city.
  12. For your first paragraph it seems like you are working hard not to admit that throwing harder with more spin might have something to do with all the injuries. Obviously I don't have the answers, but this makes sense to me as at least part of the reason there are more injuries. The rest of your post I completely agree with. But, you might have to wait longer than you want to get your young pitchers up when they are needed.
  13. At 85mph. With less spin. I want what you want, young talented pitchers who throw 100 pitches and go 6-7 innings or whatever. We want the same thing. I see pitchers throwing less pitches and getting hurt more. Why do you think that is? Because they aren't ridden hard enough during development?
  14. SWR has thrown 90+ pitches 7 times this year and many other starts have been high 80's. So in my opinion he is already there as a mid-rotation starter in today's MLB. At 23 the young man will keep getting better and stronger. You got me on Festa, yikes. Get that kid on a steady diet of cheeseburgers, double cheeseburgers. There is talent here but he needs to get some weight on that frame. Look at Ober. He has thrown 90+ pitches 9 times this year. Last year it was 14. This is modern starting pitching like it or not. (Don't blame the messenger, lol.) If Zebby keeps performing don't you think they will allow him to throw 90+ pitches every time out? I do. If so then he is prepared to be a MLB starting pitcher in today's game. If they upped the innings on these guys in the minors in meaningless games and there was a rash of injuries to our best pitching prospects, what would you say then? These guys are all different and they are each handled differently. Look at the very young Charlee Soto's pitch counts vs Raya. Guys like Raya and Festa are limited because of their lack of strength. Soto gets more run because he is big and strong. Ober was limited because he couldn't stay healthy. There is some tightrope walking necessary and when the need is presented at the big league level, the guy getting the call my not be a finished product.
  15. Zebby is very ready to pitch up to 100 pitches. Physically so is Festa. They are trying to ease them into the bigs by not having them face the top of the order a 3rd time and have their last memory of the start getting shelled with the game on the line. Then over time, as seen with SWR, they gradually lengthen the leash. By the looks of Zebulon, I would not be surprised if his leash was lengthened more quickly than the other 2 rookies. *This is the Twin's strategy not mine. I don't have one, as a long suffering Twins fan I don't have experience with watching a team break in multiple young promising pitchers, lol.
  16. Rayne Doncon says hello, 👋
  17. Is this a question? I'm not sure what you want here. Is it only a prior plate appearance that would signal readiness, or does the staff have multitudes more information than you and I to make such a decision? Maybe they simply liked the matchup. Management, including Rocco, the front office and the coaches, do not platoon every batter. They do platoon left handers more often, but not Kepler. From their track record and with Kepler most likely gone after the season, it makes sense they will groom at least one more left handed batter to face leftys regularly. They can't platoon everybody.
  18. Ronny out pitched Winder in the minors this year with a mediocre performance himself, but Winder has pitched a little better than Ronny in the majors in an absolutely tiny sample size.
  19. 78% strikes, SMH, Pablo appears to be getting stronger as the year goes on like '23. Gasin' 98 right on by guys for Ks.
