Just make him throw strikes. He will nibble his way to a bloated pitch count.

Foolish? The Pohlad's would probably disagree. Personally I would've loved it if they had signed La Machina long term, but I was sure it wouldn't happen.

Sands got it done atta boy. Alcalá has arrived, they clearly aren't messing around with him like they did early on.

I don't think Rocco can hear him since he has his job. -

This came up with a Google search and send about right. "The often-applied rule of thumb is that sativa is more invigorating and energizing, while indica is more relaxing and calming — but it’s not that simple. Individual plants produce varying effects, even among the same type of cannabis. It all depends on the plant’s chemical composition and the growing technique used. Instead of looking at the type alone — sativa or indica — look at the description the grower and dispensary provide." -
So we're just going to move the goalposts around? Don't like the innings pitched data so now it's pitches per start that matters? Total innings is a poor metric, but starts with 6+ innings pitched is not? I'm not following. Nothing you stated convinces me that Baldelli pulls his pitchers early. Why? Because he doesn't when he has a decent staff. He does when he has Archer and Bundy etc. Shoemaker. That crappy rotation created a narrative that still lives to this day, lol.

You make a good point Lewis could improve and a healthy off-season would be very welcome for the young man. He definitely has some elite athletic talents, but a quick look at his Baseball Savant page and his sprint speed is in the 28th percentile right now, sheesh. I've been thinking they could really use that righty bat in the outfield, but that is pretty slow. I think you are right though, regardless of what I think they will probably keep him at 3rd.

Does anyone think the Twins will pony up for an extension for any reliever? I'd be very surprised.

He's either going to be healthy or not I don't think there is any evidence it matters were he plays. His last two injuries happened swinging a bat and running the bases. The position he played did not matter. The only criteria here is how can you get the best fielders in a place they impact the team the most. If Lewis wants to pay a certain position, he has to earn it. Right now Lee is a better fielder, that is why I give him preference. Of course this could change.

Last year the Twins ranked #4 in MLB in innings pitched per start at 5.52 with 1st place at 5.56. This year they sit at #6 with 5.42 innings per start. The quick hook Baldelli narrative is a false one.

Yes, but they were they only assets the Pohlads were willing to part with. The Twins were never signing him to that deal. Personally I don't think he would have stayed here even if we offered the same cash.

No doubt the lack of practice reps is a killer. I do think a year studying the offense is very valuable giving him a big leg up on a true rookie.

I hope you were jesting, otherwise tough "fan" hang, just sayin -
Griffin Jax is a driven and disciplined young man. Part of the reason he struggled mightily as a starter might have to do with his limited early development due to his military career. He may feel the same way with that being a reason he wants a chance to start again. Of course that and the potential money involved. It sure would be hard to mess with such a successful reliever, but it is intriguing to consider what kind of starter he could be now. Looking at the state of the pen and the Twins unwillingness to financially invest in it, I doubt he gets the chance.
-
The best case scenario for the Twins moving forward is during the next few weeks Festa and Zebby pitch well enough to possibly allow Varland to move to the pen. There is no guarantee he does well there, but he does provide a power pen arm. He could be joined there by Paddack who likely will not be able to provide a starter's length this year. Obviously the pen could use the reinforcements.

It was apparent very quickly that Lee is a better fielder at 3rd, short and 2nd. Much more fundamentally sound and instinctive. Putting Lee where he helps the team the most should be the priority. Lewis as the lesser fielder should be given secondary consideration. I don't know why moving Lewis to the outfield is feared. It makes no sense to me. If you are worried about injury potential at 2nd, why not left field? He has the bat. We have not adequately filled the position since Rosario's departure. We have unsuccessfully attempted to get a right handed corner bat. Lewis solves both of those problems.

Consternation over the term pipeline makes no sense to me. Falvey was hired to mimick Cleveland who has had an seemingly endless stream of quality pitchers acquired via all available avenues and developed by a well designed pitching development program. It is working. Pipeline is as good as any term to describe this process. But hey, call it whatever you like, lol. Anyone saying that previous regimes don't deserve criticism is flat out wrong. Terry Ryan did some things well and had a good run in his first tenure. He was out of touch in his second term and left behind an outdated pitching acquisition and development program. Anybody remember when it occurred to Ryan that high velocity was helpful? Hello Jim Hoey, lol. Falvey deserves praise for his revamping of the entire organization.
