  1. Let me put this in kindergarten language for Rocco.... If you are going to bat Margot leadoff in a game of consequence.... You get what you get... and you don't get upset.
  2. The Twins have a fever...and the only cure is.....MORE IRVIN!
  3. We know that Rocco won't burn his Irvin option tonight so that he can save him for later in the week in a close game against a left hander....
  4. Perhaps the Twins player are passive aggressively showing Rocco the door..... I'm er.... a..... not....not ok with that?!
  5. This.... this... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand......THIS! I came to say this but thank you for saving me the time. Just can't anymore.... was Rocco's goal to avoid the temptation to pinch it Margot later in the game during a crucial at bat (because lord knows he cannot resist that urge!)
  6. But if Margot is not back next year.... how will we know how high he can take the hitless pinch-hitting record? (because you know that Rocco will be back and that if he has Margot available, he'll use him...)
  7. I suspect he'll stay there until Walter F-ing Jenkins or E-Rod is ready to displace him (probably 2026). The problem is that his bat does not play well enough for DH or a corner outfield position unfortunately. I suspect that the Twins will end up eating a few years at the end of his contract via release or a trade where they still pick up the majority of his salary.
  8. So that is 5-10 wins we are leaving on the table which is generally a pretty big deal in the final standings.... Again....either managing matters and Rocco needs to go... Or managing doesn't matter and there is no harm in letting Rocco go and trying someone else
  9. Runs count the same in the 5th and 9th inning... if you blow up the 5th and 6th inning, there is no competitive 8th and 9th inning.... and you CRUSH the moral of your line up and defense. Do you think it feels different playing ahead by a run versus down by 6? Don't ignore the actual problem in front of you because of a concern about a hypothetical problem in the future And that's why using firemen in key high leverage situations will continue to be a strategy used by successful managers for important games. We literally used a reliver cast off a playoff team that new better in one of the most important... if not THE most important games of the season. This is not complicated... it was a ridiculous decision.
  10. Even if you believe this. (which to each their own I guess)... why did he come out to start the next inning again?
  11. "ones and zeros....zeros and ones....ones and zeros...zeros and ones!"
  12. "But baseball is a game of execution and sound decision making, and Irvin’s use in that game and predicable inability to throw strikes cost the Twins dearly." Fixed that for you!
  13. "burning one of your top bullpen arms that early in a game with so much baseball left to play is rarely ideal." In July yes... in a must win game at the end of September with a completely rested bullpen and an off day pending... ABSOLUTELY NOT. (and this isn't even taking into account to possibility of leaving Zebby in) Using a better relief pitcher earlier in a game during a perceived high leverage situation even has a name (Fireman). Sorry, no amount of mental gymnastics is going the make this anything other than managerial malpractice. It is such flagrant managerial malpractice that the Twins fans probably have grounds for a class action lawsuit... I kid (I think).... And don't even get me started on the bizarre Margot pinch hitting obsession (the definition of insanity is... well you know...) much less how many ABs he has accumulated this year
  14. This... this....aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand.......THIS!
  15. Rocco committed managerial malpractice in this game with his use of a rested bullpen in a must win game. It is long past time to try someone new and the Rocco apologists shouldn't mind because they seem to think that managing really doesn't matter much...
  16. Rocco committed managerial malpractice in the second game of the double header. A must win game with all his best bullpen arms rested and he allowed his worst bullpen pitcher to blow up the game. For all the Rocco apologists that say that the manager doesn't really matter or impact the outcome much.... GREAT... you won't mind indulging the rest of us who have long ago become frustrated with trying a new manager than is an actual leader with an understanding of the art of baseball.
  17. Rocco is officially a comically bad manager. Whole bullpen available for a must win second game of a double header and allows the worst pitcher in the bullpen to blow up the game
