  1. Honestly I think I'd prefer Duran in the 9th here. There's a reason they call them "closers".
  2. He was their #51 ranked prospect at the beginning of the year. Pretty much the definition of "soaring up the rankings" if you ask me.
  3. Better than Margot, I'm assuming you mean. Because Noah Miller's on pace for 30 HRs this year and has soared up the Dodgers Top Prospect list.
  4. Take a pitch, my god if you can't hit at least give your 'pen some time.
  5. I've seen enough. Margot is awful, I don't really think there is any hope for this guy. Quote me on it. I can't stand this guy and to make it worse we gave up the best SS prospect in the game and we'll have to think about this trade for 10 years as Miller wins MVPs and goes to All-Star Games.
  6. I don't like it much either - especially since we never know who it's going to be. I'm sure they post the information somewhere, but I'm not always in a Glen Perkins mood and I'd at least like to be prepared for it.
  7. Wow Jays fans have to be feeling just gutted with that inning. We've seen that before in Twins Territory. Unforgiveable. That strikeout by Schneider just can't happen, it's not a major league AB.
  8. Baserunning above average, at least?
  9. Margot's seeing-eye bleeder of a double yesterday seems like it happened last year. Hard to watch, and has been for a long time.
  10. You know the Twins are bats are quiet when the announcers spend 15 minutes praising Miranda's warning track flyball.
  11. I swear Vasquez gets down 0-2 in every AB. Never seen the guy take a ball in the first pitch of an AB.
  12. Twins lineup has: 5. Margot - .167 6. Santana - .190 7. Farmer - .154 8. Vasquez - .190 How in the heck has this team won 15 of 17?
  13. Discouraging to hear the news on Topa. Is this dude going to be out for the year? That makes 5 pitchers off the top of my head (Paddack, Mahle, DeSclafini, Sam Dyson and Topa) that the Twins have traded for and who have all subsequently gone down with Tommy John or other major career threatening injuries almost IMMEDIATLY after being traded for. It's very clear that someone is not doing their due diligence. You can't chalk this all up to "bad luck", this is bad scouting and bad intel. Speaking of Paddack the Twins did a great job signing him on the cheap after his injury. Here's hoping we can get more of this type of outing from him this year. Hard to complain about the starting pitching so far: Lopez, Ryan, Paddack, and Ober have all worked out perfectly according to plan. With SWR seemingly finding his footing here as the 5th starter, it's encouraging to see.
  14. 1. Jeffers losing that foul pop-up before Jackson walked the bases loaded is the turning point. It doesn't go down as an error, but that's a fairly routine major league play, and gets caught 95% of the time. Instead of 2 outs and men on 1st & 3rd, the M's had 1 out and the bases loaded. 2. Is Jackson worth keeping on the roster? When Topa comes back is he outrighted? 3. Rocco is pinch-hitting Manuel Margot because the Twins are still trying to get something out of him. They want to show faith in him and keep using him, the only way to get him out of this season-long slump is to play him. This might look like "bad managing" but it's a marathon and Rocco is trying to get this guy on the field. Margot will either force his way into relevancy or upper management will be forced to make a decision. Sitting him on the bench just prolongs the problem. 4. Twins now losers of 2-of-3, both losses being very winnable games. Let's hope things don't get ugly. A win today fixes a lot.
  15. It's so funny, I was thinking the same thing this morning! Jax blows the lead and gets the 'win'? Obviously this is nothing new and has been going on forever. My main problem with changing the rule is that you are really going to mess up the record books now - because for 120+ years the stats have been kept according to the current rule. Baseball records are probably more recognizable and important than in any other sport. You can't just change things now. If it helps - just think about how many times a starting pitcher goes 5 innings, gives up 6+ runs and still gets the win. It happens. There are tons of "undeserved" wins by starters, too!
  16. This is the second game in a row where the Twins have had the bases loaded or runners on 2nd & 3rd with nobody out and failed to score. To manage not to score in either situation is extremely rare, to do so in back-to-back games suggests a pattern. Heck even scoring just ONE run in such situations is considered a failure. CBS Sports reports say that Royce Lewis could come back at the end of May. Knowing the Twins, that means June 15th but whatever. More Royce updates, please!
  17. Twins had men on 2nd and 3rd with nobody out in the 8th and somehow didn't score a run. That's usually the type of thing that comes back to haunt a team. Yet on this streak, the Twins can seemingly do no wrong. Joe Ryan on the hill today, you know he's going to be fired up to make it 13 in a row.
  18. - Don't know why Castro isn't hitting leadoff - Cole Sands is turning back into a pumpkin. He is who we thought he was. He had a nice April, but I am hoping the Twins have someone ready to replace this guy ASAP, the implosion has begun. - Yes, getting concerned about Kirilloff. He looks....tired? Seems like a guy who is just out of gas. Doesn't look like an everyday player, should be platooning. Playing 6 games per week is way too much for him. - Did the Twins really trade the best SS prospect in the game for Manuel Margot? This is embarrassing. One more: - Thielbar is a 40 year-old man coming off injury and he looks every part of it. Even when he's not giving up runs, he's giving up hart hits and walking guys. Like Sands, I sure hope the Twins have a plan to replace this guy. Also: yes, this sure is fun! Will be watching to see if they can make it 12 today!
  19. Luis is a great ballplayer and it's pretty clear that lots of teams want a player like him on their roster. When is he a free agent? Hope he can bring in a big contract somewhere, he certainly deserves it. Guy's 27 years old, a good part of his career is still in front of him. He may up there chasing a few records before it's all said and done.
  20. Hey Twins batters! PSSST! Hey! I got a little tip.... I think Tanner Houk is going to throw you a breaking ball during your at-bat, so you shouldn't go up there looking for the fastball. Seriously, how are these guys not figuring this out after 6 innings?
  21. Isn't cutting a player essentially the same thing as admitting they were wrong? I mean, what more should they do? Professional MLB clubs aren't going to bash a guy who just got cut. They're going to say all the right things like "it didn't work out for him here", or "he ran into some bad luck and couldn't get out of his slump" or whatever. They've never going to say "This guy is awful and we really f-ed up and wish we didn't trade our #1 prospect for a washed up outfielder". If an MLB team did that, they'd have a hard time finding free agents to sign with them.
  22. To make it worse, turns out the guy can't hit anymore either!
