    He's still fun on occasion, but he's an old curmudgeon. You just have to know what you're getting when you listen to a podcast with him. He did compare Arraez to Rod Carew on Mackey & Judd today. (He said he's not as good, but he's close).

    You never know on the WS. I wouldn't bet on it, but crazy things happen in the playoffs. Also, Correa is in charge of his own contract, IF (BIG IF) he really loves it in MN, he might play it out another year when the free agent SS market isn't as filled with big stars. If he waits until after next season, he'll still get a big contract without having to compete with Xandar Bogarts, Trea Turner, Tim Anderson, and more for the top contracts, and he still would probably have the highest AAV. So, no to the trade. If you think you're getting to the playoffs, you're not trading your starting SS just because he might opt out.

    I've booed players in the past. I booed AJ because he all the crap he talked about Minnesota after he left. I booed Ryan Braun because he ruined a guys testing career when Braun was clearly using PEDs and got busted for it later in his career. That never sat well with me. So it takes a special character and special offenses for me to boo a player. I wouldn't have booed Donaldson. I wouldn't be too mad about others booing him though after that comment to Tim Anderson.

    I'm in the camp of anything can happen, but I'm not expecting a world series title. I am hoping for some great playoff experience for this young core that seems to be developing.

    I'm happy that I was at Target Field to witness both #6 and #1. They were both great moments. For Dozier's, I was in the section that he hit it to. It was so electric.

    The baseball gods usually demand sacrifices of some sort. Let's hope Paddack's UCL was a big enough sacrifice for 110 games of Buxton. Maybe that's why Falvine traded for Paddack in the first place? Specifically to be the sacrifice to the baseballs gods. If so, they are sneakier than we give them credit for.

    I grew up with John Gordon, so he's very nostalgic for me. I love Provus though. I think he does a great job and the Twins are lucky to have him. Gladden isn't bad, but not great. He could use some schooling on the modern stats, but I like having a former major leaguer in the booth to add some context to things, even if the context can be a little bit dated.

    Denver is actually very sunny. Nearly 70% days are sunny. So, we could lower that to 10 teams. But I agree with your point. Weather is going to happen, especially in April. I mean, I have a Twins stocking cap. I need to wear that to games on occasion. Seems like a silly thing to do in July.

    Very true. I agree. That doesn't mean a deal for Montas is completely dead though, just unlikely. I think Oakland has figured Montas's value will still be high or higher at the trade deadline (or even next off season).

    I don't think it means that yet. This move would not prevent a deal for Montas. If the A's made an offer the the Twins that was acceptable, they'd still do it regardless of this move. I have a sense that the A's are going to wait until closer to the trade deadline to move Montas anyway.

    Technically, they traded for Johan. You could argue that Johan was the Marlins' best Rule V pick ever, and the Jared Camp + Cash for Rule V pick Johan Santana was one of the best trades Terry Ryan ever made.

    Suzuki intrigues me. I think he's got a solid chance to be a good to very good MLB player. It would be a play if the FO decided to trade Kepler for pitching. Unless they wanted to try Kepler out in LF... kind of a crazy idea. I don't think they necessarily need to add an outfielder, but I don't see the season going super well if they roll with Larnach (who I actually think will end up being pretty good), Rooker, or Martin to start the season. I'm sure my predictions will be super off though. They generally are.

    I'm thinking you can watch Major league about 75 times in that span of time.

    I don't think he'll get into the HOF. I'd put money on him making it to year two of the HOF ballot though. He'll get at least 5% of the vote.

    Yeah. He did. That's why I don't get all the trade hate. Lots of people around here want to FO to "be more like the Rays" and build up a strong farm with good teams. But the Rays trade players when they're at peak value to keep the farm strong. That's exactly what Falvine did with Berrios. The trade hurt emotionally, but this is exactly what good FO's do with a guy that has made it clear he's not signing an extension. (Note: I'm not passing the Twins' FO is good or bad, just that I feel they made the right move in this particular case).

    I would assume that there would be some sort of "grandfather" clause to ensure that teams didn't immediately have half their teams/prospects become free agents. A 1-year grace period or something on that clause that would give teams a chance to sign some extensions.

    I'm really hoping for the 4 way tie! How great would that be?

    It says that the Rays were in need of a DH, so they went out and got the best one they could to try to make sure they didn't lose the world series again this year. The cost was their 10th and 17th best prospects (Ryan and Strotman). That's all. It doesn't mean the Rays didn't think Ryan isn't a good pitcher, it was just the price that had to be paid to get one of the best hitters in baseball.
