    We'll see. There are still some trades out there that haven't been announced yet. Maybe he and Simmons are gone...? Now MLB trade rumors will be about all the deals that almost went through, but teams couldn't quite come to terms. Edit: Posted this before refreshing and reading the news that Pineda was not traded. My forum skills are rusty.

    I read somewhere (I can try to find a link to the quote) that Johnson didn't think Chase Petty was going to fall to them and that they were ecstatic when he did. So, that sort of thing can change a team's draft plan. After that, you pick the best players you can and the positions they play will sort themselves out.

    I was at that game too. That was such an amazing ending to that game. Definitely up there in terms of most fun I've had at a game. You can actually see me in the video with my arms raised up in the left field bleachers as my (now) wife watched some kid trip over the bleachers. Dozier had a great career and he was always fun to watch. I wish him luck in all his future endeavors.

    Only a slight nit to pick. In 2009, when Sano, Polanco, and Kepler all signed, the money wasn't constrained. Teams were allowed to spend as much as they liked then. The bonus pool didn't start until 2012. So, the only constraint was really how much risk teams were willing to take on in the form of cash for signing rights for 16 year old players. But, I understand and agree with your argument. Also, I like the article. These are the fun articles to read during the offseason.

    The fact that this article has Alex Gordon going anywhere but back to the Royals makes the whole thing suspect to me. He's made it very clear that his opinion is to play with the Royals, or retire. I can't see him going to a Giants team that probably isn't going to compete. But then again, this just says best fit, not necessarily a prediction of where they will go.

    Trout has got that awards locked down. Cruz and Kepler are having great seasons. Trout's season is damn near historic. That being said, having Kepler and Cruz on the same team, and even discussing the real possibility that they both get some MVP votes is a great feeling.

    As long as this isn't the only move they make, I'm fine with it. Give up a guy that you'd probably end up parting with anyway for help now, and it sound like they will also get a PTBNL. It's hard to be too unhappy with this.
