  1. I did too, but his issue(s) as a starter don't play well in a bullpen either. Maybe he puts it together, Idk, but I'd love for him to have an extended run of actual success if I have to listen to fans/media continue to gas this guy up.
  2. Too real. Sometimes I feel like I'm insane. This fan base, and a lot of media that covers this teams, constantly prop this guy up as some sort of high end (or worse elite) talent despite him having done nothing to actually warrant the hype. But tell me more about his velo.....Yeesh I'm so tired of it.
  3. Ffs....screeching "fake news," anytime you hear something you don't like has become commonplace as well. I'd love to hear the motive Hayes, Ken Rosenthal, and Brittany Ghiroli had for intentionally misinforming subscribers. Clicks for their article that sits behind a paywall?
  4. It's funny, but also sad...that's the most animated they've been all game which isn't their fault....
  5. If you don't like IF singles you don't like Twins baseball baby....
  6. Honestly love that this has reached meme status
  7. He looks locked in. It's good to see for sure; this is another big year for him.
  8. Larnach swings over the top of that 1-2 breaking ball in the past. The end result of the AB wasn't ideal but it was good to see him spit on a close pitch and fight off the off speed stuff.
  9. So they don't vet their sources and they're comfortable staking their professional reputation on "leaked nonsense?" Ok.
  10. Bader has started 4 of the first 6 games, and every one has been against RHP which he historically hasn't hit. That was the primary concern of the "detractors." Unless you think he's suddenly discovered how to reverse that trend at age 31, or 3/4 of his hits will leave the park, it's probably premature to be serving up crow...
  11. Varland giving up a HR? I'm shocked. But hey, that velo bump after moving to the pen though....
  12. Losing 5 or 6 straight games, similar to winning 5 or 6 in a row, kinda is a big deal.... Those types of streaks are how you torpedo a season or clinch a playoff berth. Context is far too often missing (and I said this in another thread) particularly when things aren't going well, i.e. "it's only 4 games." True, it's a very small percentage of the total games this team will play during the 2025 season, but of those 162 total games, or the 158 remaining, even the best teams are all but guaranteed to lose between 60-70 games, at minimum. Are the Twins one of the best teams in baseball? This is largely the same roster as last season. The best month last year was May, where they finished 4 games above .500. Can they repeat that this April and fight back to .500? Does it take 2 months? What happens with the rest of the division, or AL, in the meantime?
  13. Both of those squads had multiple months where they played at a 100+ win pace. I'm pretty sure the Twins had at least one decent streak last year, but their best month was May, and they finished 4 games over .500 during that period. The 2025 Twins are largely the same squad. There is a lot of track left, and I know that you know this, but there are also plenty of drops baked in along the way, and it's the last part that gets overlooked too often during these discussions.
  14. Exactly what you want when handing out a roster spot.
  15. I don't understand the pushback. You asked why Bader would get more run than he should. We both agree that his contract dictates that he will be used, and given a long leash. He isn't a 4th OF, and Margot wasn't acquired to be one either based on how this team continued to force him into the lineup despite putrid results.
  16. If you can't trust Julien to get one start in either of these 3 games vs RHP what's the point of carrying him? Also, Bader with his 2nd start vs RHP in 3 games. Tell me again he's just a 4th OF who's here to be a defensive replacement and short side platoon...
  17. Again, he was sub replacement level. I don't give a s*** about the injury carousel. This team was not forced, in any way, to continue feeding Margot playing time, yet he accrued 350 PAs. Anybody with an OF glove or an ok bat? That's the point right? Margot performed worse than a theoretical AAA/AA call up or waiver wire/minor league signing. There was ample time and opportunity to move on from a guy who couldn't defend or hit, yet they kept trotting him out there. There's zero chance that happens if he isn't a veteran player to whom they've made a financial commitment. I mean ffs Joey Gallo stayed on the roster for the entirety of the 2023 season. The leash is long. Of course, and I don't believe for one second that somebody making the league minimum, or with options, would've been allowed to struggle so badly for so long.
  18. All that real money and no real accounting. We'll disagree that 2020 was some sort of charity season gifted via ownership, and we'll most certainly disagree that this franchise has been operating on a deficit year over year. Idk how spending at a level identical to pre-Covid seasons is "spending your way through," but ok. They should've bet on being a competitive, or at least interesting, team to watch. You don't get to alienate fans and then blame them for not jumping all over themselves to consume your s**** product.
  19. This is fiction. His leash was long because they paid him. Period. He was literally worse than replacement level last year. It's not like this team didn't have options to match, or best, that type of performance. The Twins haven't talked about Bader in any way to suggest he's some defensive replacement/short side platoon guy. They sign these guys to play.
  20. Lopez cost $14M the last two seasons combined. They're not borrowing on value; their spending, relative to the league, has remained consistently in the high teens/low 20s. The idea that signing Carlos Correa has plunged this franchise into half a billion dollars worth of debt is laughable. So again, what are these "things other than FAs," that incurred such a large debt on the baseball side? Do the Twins have the most expensive ops setup in professional sports? Is the cost of pregame meal prep out of control? Is this a bank bailout situation where all of management is giving themselves crazy bonuses while lighting the franchise on fire?
