  1. I'm a little surprised SD only used 4 pitchers. I guess that's what you can do in September.
  2. I'd think it's more calming to get a player in right away than to have him sit anxiously for a week waiting for the experience.
  3. For a while, I though Gibson, Pressley, and Colon all had a shot at that feat.
  4. I agree, except I'd like a little more flexibility. If Grossman or Garver are DH on a given day, there is no positional backup at OF or C. Vargas will be out of options too. I'm tempted to give him the DH job next year and, if he struggles, let Grossman and the rotation fill the void.
  5. With the 10 day DL, I think that's less of an issue. Adrianza, Escobar, and even Giminez have played OF if they really need to call on a 5th OF (and Sano, I guess). While they aren't everyday quality out there, they can take the field for 1-2 days. It's only if there's a nagging, non-DL injury where a second OF back-up is needed. That is, if Grossman is the 4th OF and he isn't DHing. I'd like to see a new full-time DH next year, pushing Grossman to the bench. Not sure who would back up CF then if they only carry 4. If 5, Granite.
  6. Have the Twins had a 20 HR utility player? Todd Walker, maybe?
  7. I think most teams need two back-up infielders. I don't understand this either/or debate. The problem for the Twins is that they carry too many relievers.
  8. He's been bad lately, but it's on Molitor who left him in for 2+ innings/40+ pitches.
  9. I'd just like to comment on how ugly those red, white and blue Kernels uniforms are. Nice article.
  10. No idea, but he clearly has issues to work out and Perkins and Rogers already has mop-up mode claimed.
  11. Carlos Santana is only 32? It feels like he's been around forever.
  12. I'm not sure it's fair to state that BS stats can be compared specifically to if Kintzler were here. BS can be given to any reliever. SV only goes to the one to finish the game.
  13. I'm surprised Kepler only has 4 SB. I think of him as a 15 per year kind of guy, speed-wise. I guess that's the game in this era.
  14. Good luck to all these players, but none of them have me excited. Maybe there are some role players in the bunch.
  15. I'd also credit health this year (outside of pitching). Grossman, Buxton, and Mauer are the only regulars I can think of to go on the DL. The latter 2 were basically out for the minimum.
  16. I have a lot of complaints about Molitor, but it was the second game of a double header and 1/3 of their bench plays OF.
  17. "Polanco had as many hits tonight as he did all last month." Ouch. Glad he's turning it around.
  18. Chacin's avg would be about 6th best in the Twins lineup tonight.
  19. Not sure why people think there's demand for Gimenez: either that he'd fail to clear waivers or that they could trade him for anything (unless by "anything" you mean comparable to the Danny Santana trade). He signed on a minor league contract and has a career avg below Drew Butera. Gimenez is a fun character, but he'll be expendable if/when the team wants a different backup catcher.
  20. No. GMs know each other and have real sources. We're just relying on the rumor mill.
  21. He'd cost more, but anyone think Jim Johnson could hack it in the AL Central? He was terrible a couple years back in BAL, but seems rejuvenated in ATL.
