  1. I didn't watch, but it's clear to me from this thread that the Twins would be a much better team if they got rid of Cruz, Berrios, and Rogers.
  2. I think, as the roster stands today, for 2021 they deal Rosario then let Rooker/Larnach/Kiriloff battle it out in Spring Training. If one struggles to adapt, they have the others (and Cave) as backup plans. That's also pretending it's business as usual in 2021. I see Wade as valuable, but not in the picture for a starting role. Given how Rocco rests players and the loss of a year of minor league development, they can get by with 4 "starters". Especially if Marwin is gone and Kepler still has a big split in LHP/RHP. Anyway, getting off track here. Best of luck in recovery for Rooker. At least he got a taste of The Show. Far fewer prospects get to say that this year.
  3. I can't think of an example where a poor defender was moved from OF to IF at the MLB level (not counting 1B).
  4. Wade is a nice player. So was Brian Duensing. He's not going to get anything in return.
  5. We definitely don't spending enough time at TwinsDaily worrying about the Twins.
  6. Now if Rocco suddenly declared Romo today's opener...that would be different.
  7. Bunch of nothing. Benches cleared...then the two sides stood and talked (Sano, Gonzalez, Lindor). Yes, there's some history here from the last series or two but I don't see it as a big deal at this point. Flare ups happen from time to time. This was peaceful and didn't explode. Let's hope everyone moves on. You can tell a serious bench clearing incident from a token one. Just watch how the Twins bullpen meanders onto the field.
  8. The Twins have depth to the point where a short-term injury doesn't hurt them much. I love how well they've built this team, because all of those names are fine (assuming this isn't a serious injury). As Twins_89 said, it's too bad Gordon isn't healthy because this would finally be his chance. But I'm not going to blame a guy for catching a contagious virus.
  9. What's the incentive to win the division if the top 8 teams make the playoffs and there are no home games?
  10. "2020 Midseason Farm System Rankings"? Good one, MLB. What with 0 minor league games played.
  11. I could not figure out Dobnak's box score. I missed the HBP. Thanks! I wonder if this was a test run for postseason: seeing how Dobnak performs on short rest. I get the feeling Rocco is managing "September baseball" right now, keeping his eye on the prize more than the current day's game.
  12. Buxton also strikes out a lot and hits a lot of first pitch pop-ups. I'm not walking the hitter who had batted ninth for the Twins the past 3 years in this scenario.
  13. I see no correlation here. How many teams have made big trades and not won the World Series? Way more.
  14. If Arraez can't be counted on to play regularly and he isn't hitting, they may as well put him on IL and let him fully heal. Though he's looked a little better lately.
  15. This seems...sudden. Surprised there isn't more of a send-off. But what isn't weird about 2020?
  16. In previous years I thought the same of Buxton (he struggled when skipping rehab assignments). Fingers crossed that both get their groove.
  17. Even if he struggles it's addition by subtraction, as there's one fewer utility players in the lineup daily. I'm fine with Adrianza playing twice a week, but not 5-6 times.
  18. In many ways, the current CLE mgmt reminds me of the Twins in the early 2000s. Good team, good system. Challenging finances that cast a shadow over everything else. Yet they manage to be competitive every year.
  19. That's also 2 years in a row with similar trades. I'm not saying 2 players makes a pattern, but it seems like it isn't the happiest clubhouse.
  20. I agree but about the asterisk but...it's still a trophy and (some equivalent of) a parade. Those are the things that the record books and community will mostly see.
  21. It's impossible to know, of course, but every single person (MLB players or average people at home) is carrying extra stress this year. It has many ways of surfacing.
  22. I wouldn't give up a top 30 prospect for two rental backups. Especially with this year's playoff format because it's not about the pennant race as much as what happens in the postseason itself.
