    Blankenhorn starting in AA doesn't suggest he'll get the call. A 1B/OF makes sense as it allows Arraez as the primary 3B with Sano in case of emergency. It is surprising they don't have a AAAA-type utility player on the 40-roster. (Arguably Gordon, but I'd still classify him as "prospect" regardless of stock.)

    Buxton is on a pace to be the first 162/162 (HR/SB) player.

    Not how I would have done it, but whatever. It's not like this will be the 26-person roster 10 days from now.

    Could we see Cruz in LF on Opening Day? I doubt it since I don't think he's played an inning in the OF in a Twins uniform (in regular season), but it's intriguing just because of the nature of Opening Day.

    I think the timing of this would be far more suspicious if he was sent down on the last day.

    I love to see a rookie starting on Opening Day. But mgmt also has to make them earn it. Unless he's wowing them in practice, I'd go with Rooker/Cave until something happens. Garlick or Broxton can have the extra bench role a la LaMarre for month (40-spot pending). Most players seem to need that final demotion to flip the figurative maturity/competitive switch, especially if they were #1 picks who never struggled before.

    RP is the easiest position to add at the trade deadline, often the cheapest to trade for, and the most volatile position. It makes sense to wait to stock up.

    I think it's clear by now that Rocco's lineups don't have an "everyday anything." They're pieces that constantly move. If I were building a lineup, it would probably between Arraez and a healthy Polanco.

    It's way too early for this discussion. Two years ago we all loved the Polanco and Kepler deals too. They're still favorable to the team, but if you extend everybody you also freeze your ability to make roster moves. And I'm in no rush with Arraez. He's great so far. But a player with no power and no position isn't going to break the bank in arbitration. Let him play for now and revisit when the clock starts ticking on his controlled years.

    If it comes down to Dobnak vs Thorpe, LH + out-of-options will always win on April 1. But maybe not by May 1. It's a long season.

    I'm surprised how few pitchers publicly talk about learning or tweaking a new pitch. You'd think everybody would want to improve their arsenal, though more is not necessarily better.

    Better call in Jim Hooey to seal the deal.

    Even before TJ, he wasn't a model of consistent innings-eating. He'll be lucky to get 150. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he's under 100 IP.

    Exactly. If he's willing to listen, engage. Otherwise we're talking Mauer 2009 when you have to pay max year. (And Mauer was also "always hurt" prior to that contract.)

    I hope he has a great year -- even if it puts the team in a Mauer conundrum.

    When your body is your workplace tool, your body is likely to suffer the consequences. In an inhuman, business-first persepctive, this means one more year before they put prospects on the 40-man.

    Sano with Donaldson giving him a run. Sano has looked good every-other year, so I'm hoping this is the year (as I say...every other year).

    Completely off-topic, other than putting together the 1-9 spots. How fast/slow is Simmons? I'd like him at 9 with Buxton at 8. Unless he'll clog the bases ahead of Buxton. As for leadoff, I expect a platoon of sorts between Kepler and Arraez, based on Rocco's previous usage.

    While Rooker performed well in a small sample last year, this isn't exactly a Favre/Rodgers situation.

    If Odo signs in PHI, I guess it's the ultimate test if he's learned how to reduce his HR ratio. I think he's a really good pitcher. But I also don't think that's a good stadium for him.

    Let's hope we have a new #1 next year because he graduated. Technically I don't think he has his first MLB hit because post-season stats don't count, right?

    It's really bizarre that a human being can be traded. No way I'd take a job with that requirement. I love the human side of the game too, so I appreciate this comment, even if I still think the right "business move" was trading those players. Okay, not Lynn. He seemed more like he treated the Twins that way, imho.
