  1. So Floro is essentially Logan Forsythe as a Twin. I hope he can be a fair 6th inning pitcher for the next month, then he's just Twins trivia... I can't imagine he'll make a post-season roster if they make it there.
  2. He'd obviously add 30mph in the bullpen and be amazing. Based on general internet commentary about failed starters.
  3. What is Floro's contract status? If he's arb eligible he's gone at the end of the year anyway, so a bounceback doesn't help the Twins any.
  4. Misleading headline. I was expecting Twins history.
  5. It sounds like few of the 90+ HBPs are to wrists, hands, and shins, which seem to cause the IL-type injuries.
  6. But will they want to pay them? CLE isn't exactly known for adding payroll in-season.
  7. Kirk Cousins might 😆
  8. I don't care who was right or wrong. But Garver is the one keeping this alive by whining to the press. He has every right to be mad. But he could also be mad while inside the clubhouse and say "tomorrow is another game" to the press.
  9. This FO is hardly loyal to their waiver wire pickups. The majority don't ever put on a uniform before being re-waived.
  10. Harper and AJ, though, were nowhere near Mauer's defensive ability. No idea how Battey and Wynegar were on defense. Before my time. I do agree that he doesn't stand a chance at HOF consideration unless they "ignore" the 1B years. Which won't happen with the current HOF decision makers, but maybe when a younger generation with a better understanding of brain injuries slowly takes over.
  11. Bad news for him and I don't want to make light of his pain. Now the but... That's why you don't give gigantic, long-term contracts to pitchers (and without fact checking, I feel there's some data out there about pitchers with experience in Japanese league). Way too big a risk. Imagine the hubbub if this wasn't diagnosed until next April in Spring Training on a new team.
  12. Let us know how that works out for you.
  13. It's hard to tell on Gameday, but I think Wallner might've fouled a ball off his body?
  14. I thought they'd put Lewis in LF, Farmer at 3B. Does this mean Lewis is done in the OF?
  15. I had the same thoughts on seeing that stat. Then I thought about how, if DET were a contender, he'd be out of a job right now. Strange league sometimes.
  16. While true, that's more of a focus on players' careers than one-off playoff series. I guess I haven't studied playoff rosters the last few years, but don't most teams add role/bench players rather than stocking a super large bullpen? But, sure, I'd rather see Varland than about half of the current BP.
  17. Is somebody implying that the manager won't have a contingency plan? That seems...beyond worth discussing. Of course they aren't going to make it up as they go. But that's not what this article is proposing: other than Maeda, the author is basically discussing roster changes. (I'm not counting Kuechel in the discussion at all.)
  18. This premise assumes the team will be 100% healthy at some point, which seems unlikely to me given recent history. Nobody on this roster is being forced out of a position due to so many injuries. But debating if Julien can survive at 2B on his skillset is a worthwhile discussion. I'd argue that you can somewhat hide his flaws there. He's "acceptable" but not good. Dan Uggla lasted how many years? The Twins even tried to hide young Cuddyer's defensive woes there. It lasted...a little while. I think the Arraez comments (about his defense) are interesting and might mirror my thoughts here. Essentially that Julien is okay at 2B as long as he keeps hitting, but long-term he'll either have to significantly improve on defense or he'll be moved to a position where he's less of a liability when the roster has an opening.
  19. Your solution is to call up demoted and/or waived starters? Yikes. The answer depends on the question. How are these starters to be used from the bullpen? Most SP aren't used to the fireman role. Maybe Maeda, in that sense. But if they're only going to pitch in a bases-empty scenario, they'll go with the now-standard 4 SP postseason rotation and put #5 in there (or not carry them on the roster at all).
  20. Rays are trying Zack Littell as a starter. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/07/rays-option-taj-bradley.html Didn't see that coming.
