  1. As a means to give Sano a day off here and there, it’s fine. Donaldson can play there, too, as a means to give Sano a day off, and Arraez or Astudillo can play 3rd. The article isn’t assuming that Garver or anyone would be a longer-term injury replacement, just that we have versatility to move people around when needed for a game here or there
  2. Garver has played games at 1B a handful of times with the Twins
  3. I'd be disappointed, too, if I were Rooker. Heck, I'm disappointed for him. But to call it a big set back mentally? Not sure I'd go that far. We don't know what was said, how things were explained, how he took it, but I would hope, despite the disappointed, he comes out more determined. And I don't expect this roster to stand pat beyond a month, maybe up to 6 weeks. Things always change.
  4. Warning: stop with the disrespect and name calling, everyone. You can dislike players, the FO, decisions made, decisions not made, you can dislike one another’s opinions ... but do so respectfully.
  5. (for future reference, it’s c’est la vie )
  6. My guess is ... yes. In another thread I wondered if they would increase that incrementally along with the vaccination rates ... don't know. I work in the performing arts, and we are not back to having audiences inside yet, at all. And likely won't until next Fall. But, that's indoors. For 6 weeks during the summer we perform in an outdoor venue. Right now they are going with the 25% capacity guidelines, but have said, that could and would be adjusted as was deemed safe to do so. I imagine it will be the same for outdoor sports venues as well.
  7. 'It's like going to Twins games ... when they're not very good.' Or ... 'It's like going to Rays games anytime, good or bad.' I'm not sure why I'm so harsh on the Rays, I actually like them. I think I'm being more harsh on their fans.
  8. lol ... I think we all do ... does drinking at home yelling at the tv count?
  9. Moderator note: Down the rabbit hole Covid discussion, inclusive of misinformation. If you want a covid discussion, there is a thread for that in the Sports Bar forum ... but be forewarned, it is moderated for outright grousing, bickering and misinformation. Otherwise, to post in the baseball forums, your comments need to directly correlate to the baseball discussion. And because you dislike someone or their comments, we still expect civil discourse. Rebut the post without attacking the poster, reporter, player, instructor, coach, writer, etc. Because you don't like a comment is not necessarily a reflection of a person's character. Oh ... and injecting politics in all of this, which is easy to do ... don't do it. We are all exhausted. It's tiring. My industry ... the performing arts ... is in shambles and recovery will be far worse than most. But ... it is what it is ... whether or not you think this could have prevented is for a different discussion. So ... let's move forward. Keep your comments directly related to the article and don't go down the rabbit hole and off the rails.
  10. Very nice message from Odo. Was hoping we'd re-sign him, but, the market fell where it did.
  11. Since I kind of started this with my '50% by mid-April', let me clarify. I was just pulling an 'easy' number out to illustrate what I was suggesting. It wasn't meant to be realistic, unrealistic or anything ... was just trying to illustrate that perhaps we could use the population vaccination percentage toward reopening Target Field. If 20%, 30%, 50% are vaccinated by whatever date, that could be a corresponding percentage of how open TF could become. I stated it poorly, but never meant for anyone to take it so literally as that I was saying over all of society would be 50% vaccinated by mid-April. But I am hopeful that at some point in the season, we could go full at TF ... and maybe that is too optimistic ... but at the very least I think we are heading in the right direction.
  12. I double mask ... it's called underwear, then pants (And now this thread has officially taken a very weird turn)
  13. As I said, by the time we could put something in place, we would probably already reach herd immunity. I, too, don't think it's practical. I like the idea of it in theory, though, but ... for all the reasons you said, it would take too long to get something like that working.
  14. I was just using it as an 'if' scenario to give an example. If we are vaccinated at 30% mid-April, then open to 30% and incrementally increase. I also said once April hits, we will have to see where we are at. In no way did I suggest these to be actual or realistic ... was just trying to give an example of how we could start opening up bit by bit by maybe correlating it to vaccination percentage. When we hit 70%, we should be able to completely open, whenever that is ... maybe it's not until the All-Star break. It was just a methodology I was suggesting. I don't know where you are, but in Chicago, they are setting up mass vaccination centers and have lots of people getting ready to go whole hog as soon as supplies hit. We are already getting people in the 1c group, which wasn't originally planned for for another 2 weeks. So, imo, I think we can maybe start a plan. Again, it was just a suggestion, not me saying 'This is how it will be.'
  15. I wasn't actually in the car, but hurrying to get going, and running by the computer to shut it down ... couldn't resist the comment ... and then I really had to run, literally, to catch my bus ...
  16. Yeah, I see no issue with a vaccine passport, in fact I think it's a smart way to go, especially for large events like this. But I suppose some could 'fake' it. And by the time they would put something in place, maybe enough will be vaccinated anyway. Because once more and more are vaccinated I think things will open up pretty quickly. Hey, and I think old fannies paid the biggest price in all of this, so they should get the pleasure of being first to get to the games.
  17. Yeah ... I say open up to the point that people are vaccinated. If 50% are vaccinated by mid-April, open to 50%; if by end of May it's 70%+, that's herd immunity number (right?), so, by end of May, open it all up, with incremental increases until then. But ... April 1 ... we'll see where we are at. And I don't think it will matter that much as attendance is usually lower in April anyway. But my point about Tampa remains.
  18. You can never have too much pitching, so the logical conclusion is, no, they don't have enough. (Okay ... I admit to not watching the video because I'm late for work, but had to make a drive by comment.)
  19. This is pretty much the case everywhere. Even Tampa is limiting attendance, although their limit is more than the number who would attend anyway
  20. Stick to the topic, please. I see how this easily took took related steps around the corner, but we're not here to debate the pros/cons of being an Uber driver, so let's get back to topic. Thanks.
  21. Thank you! That was useful and helpful information. I'm assuming once you've previously been issued a P1 visa, you don't have to go through the whole investigative process again, to prove existence, just the application part that takes about 4 weeks?
  22. I would be interested to hear it from your side ... you would have insights the rest of us are missing.
  23. Now you are inserting Simmons into the conversation and a manner that is not pertinent to the topic. Stop it.
  24. It’s on no one except the process and the two countries. If Simmons had been signed in November, this wouldn’t be an issue, but Simmons’ signing wasn’t official until Jan. 31. As adjacent said, there is a whole thread on this in the Twins Talk forum with some good information. I’ve been through this process before ... the employer makes the application, not the player, and it takes time.
