It's not hindsight to see Maeda didn't have it today. Didn't pitch well in the 1st but got lucky, pitched OK in the 2nd and got unlucky with poor fielding, pitched fine in the 3rd and then gave up three straight hits to start the 4th. He should have been removed at that point. There are plenty of ways to stall, so a pitcher can warm up. They could have taken him out with his back "acting" up.
