  1. Thank you for sharing this information as it's very informative!
  2. Sano looks great in the photo! Excited to see him in spring training and hopefully this is the first step for him getting back to his 2017 form (Before the injury). I can’t see Kirilloff starting in High A after dominating that league last season. If I remember correctly he played just about the same number of games in A and High A. I’ll be highly disappointed if he doesn’t start the season in AA.
  3. I feel like the Twins should just abandon all of the minor league teams above A ball and just have every top ranked minor leaguer come straight up to the Twins. /Sarcasm
  4. I agree that Gordon should be higher than Cron. The way I look at it is, right now would a team be able to trade C.J. Cron for Gordon? Probably not. Would a team be able to trade Gordon for C.J. Cron? Probably. So I would probably put Gordon higher on the list than Cron.
  5. Moving Romero to the bullpen at the start of the season is such a waste. At least let him start the season in the starting rotation as this will be the first time he's going to be able to repeat a level.
  6. If the Twins want to try and make the playoffs next year there is zero reason to not sign Cruz. He's been a very consistent and dominate hitter for the last how many years? With Cleveland letting players go and also looking to trade away another pitcher the Twins should be playing for the playoffs and Cruz helps them get there. Austin only provides upside against lefty pitchers and isn't good at defense. No reason to keep Austin when you can upgrade with Cruz. Plenty of other similar type players in AA and AAA that could be ready this season as well.
  7. You might want to get your facts straight. He's on the 40 man roster.
  8. I'm not overly excited about the Schoop signing but it's not a bad signing either. If he has a bounce back year at all it could be a very good signing. With both of signings today the Twins are at a full 40 man roster and they clearly need to add at least 1 if not 2 bullpen arms and it would be nice to add a right handed OF. So, who are the DFA candidates when they sign the next player?
  9. I don't understand signing Torres to a major league contract.
  10. I don't think you can just look at last years numbers and say that Cron is going to be better moving forward. Cron also posted a OPS + of 98 the year before.
  11. This could be said about any MLB player the Twins sign. You have no idea how that player is going to perform in the future... At least Santana has been consistently good for the last 8 years.
  12. There is no way Cleveland will trade within the division especially when they're still looking like the best team. Also, I don't believe MadBum has shoulder issues.... he fell off a dirt bike two years ago but he didn't have any issues with it last year. He was hit by a line drive that fractured a bone in his hand last year.
  13. The only way I'll be ok with this is if it's for a Nelson Cruz or a good bullpen piece.
  14. If this is correct, which I hope it isn't, I wouldn't expect the Twins to do anything significant any time soon.
  15. Nobody said the Twins should push all their chips in and only go for the playoffs in 2019. The Twins can make some significant moves that are beneficial for 2019 and beyond. There are multiple players they could sign to longterm contracts are there are multiple players they could trade for that would be here for longer than just 2019. What they're saying though is that 2019 the AL Central will be extremely weak, the Twins have a ton of payroll flexibility, there are good options in FA and in trades that should allow the Twins to make some significant noise in 2019.
  16. Since this is potentially his last option year it makes even less sense to move him to the bullpen. Use this year to determine if he can be a starter and if he sucks this year then move him to the bullpen next season. If the Twins were a potential World Series contender I could understand moving Romero to the bullpen because he has the potential to be a dominate reliever or closer but the Twins aren't anywhere close. If they end the offseason and have added a legit #1 or #2 to the rotation and have added a good 2nd basemen and at least 2 other pieces to the bullpen I'm all for moving Romero to the bullpen. Unless they do that though it doesn't make sense to move him.
  17. First off he doesn't turn 24 for a few more weeks, so he's yet to play his age 24 season. Second off he missed two full seasons so he's had two less seasons to pitch compared to other players his age. Also, because he missed two full seasons he hasn't yet been able to repeat any league, which would allow him to potentially dominate that league. Not every player is going to be lights out the first time they go through a league. Also, 6 of his first 7 starts in the MLB were very good. He got blasted in his 6th start and then came back with another good start.
  18. Actually, I'm not missing the point at all but it seems like you are. He has steadily increased his innings over the past couple of seasons. I could care less that he starts to wear down in his last few starts of the season while he's building up arm strength. He should now be able to go a full season without a pitch count and people want to limit him to the bullpen? What's the point? Sure, he could be great in relief but why not at least give him a full season without any restrictions to prove if he is a starter or not? Why would you want to take a player who has the potential to be a #2 - #3 in a rotation and move him into a significantly less valuable role when he's still 23 years old? That makes zero sense.
  19. He only threw 90 + pitches in 8 of his 16 starts in AAA this season. Of those 8 games where he threw 90 + pitches here are his inning totals: 6, 5.2, 7, 7.2, 7.2, 6.2, 8 and 4. Those look like good totals to me. Below is a link to all of his AAA starts and it's clear he was wearing down at the end of his season. He's obviously going to need to make some adjustments in the MLB but he's only had 11 starts. I'd like to have him more than a full season before we declare he can't be a starter. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=622864#/gamelogs/R/pitching/2018/MINORS
  20. I think people are completely forgetting why Romero has only pitched ~ 5 innings per game. He basically missed two full seasons in 2014 and 2015, so it has taken him some time to build his arm strength back up. In 2016 he pitched 90.1 innings, 2017 he pitched 125 innings and in 2018 he pitched 146.1 innings. There is no reason to think he won't increase his innings pitched in 2019 to ~ 175. He's basically been on a pitch count / innings limit every game to make sure he could finish the season.
  21. I'm not really interested in moving Romero to the bullpen or having May start. He's was mediocre as a starter to begin with and has shown a lot of promise in the bullpen. Plus the Twins have a ton of 4 - 5 type starters so they don't need another one. I'd love to see Kepler at first against righties which would allow Cave to start in right. I would also love to see Astudillo get regular playing time next season. Sounds like he's playing well in during winter ball.
  22. Seems like a low risk waiver claim but not sure I fully see the fit since he hits from the right side. I would have liked a lefty to platoon with Austin. It also doesn't give the Twins much flexibility.
  23. It’ll be strange going to a Twins game and not being able to watch him play! I’m happy that he retired before it was too late and appreciate all that he did for the game and for the Twins.
  24. http://www.startribune.com/who-is-available-in-free-agency-to-help-twins/499368011/ Some interesting comments in the above Strib article by La Velle E. Neal III that could indicate they are looking to spend some money. These two quotes about position players are interesting. Maybe they're looking add Donaldson at 3B which would move Sano over to 1B. I'd also love Gonzalez. “We’re going to remain open-minded to that,” Falvey said. “If we were to find a perfect fit at third base, would that open up a different place where Miguel [sano] could play? “I would anticipate position players being probably more of the focus in the early going, I would say.”
