  1. I don't think anything needs to happen in CF. Buxton has less than 700 PA in the MLB and other than the first 15 games of the season is doing fine. He needs to get his SLG % into the .400's, which in turn will increase his OPS into the mid .700s Carlos Santana to me would be the best option. He's going to get a decent contract, probably 3 years at $8 - $10 million per, is a switch hitter and can play some 1st base in a pinch. But what about Seth Smith? He's a lefty but has put up solid numbers and would be a cheaper option, which would allow the FO to spend more money on the pitching staff. There are a lot of left handed RF / 1B / DH but I'd assume they will all get $15 million plus a season. Those players include Hosmer, Mouse, JD, Alonso, Morrison and Bruce
  2. I'd rather them spend the money it's going to take to get Moustakas on pitching. There is no way the FO is going to go get a top quality pitcher plus spending 15 to 20 million a season on a position player. I also don't understand trading Buxton either. Watching Granite out in CF the last two weeks makes it clear how much Buxton does on defense and no other player in the MLB comes close. Lorenzo Cain is going to be 32 at the start of next season. Do you really want to sign him to a 3 to 5 year deal on the decline of his career?
  3. The spots in the lineup the Twins need more production from are CF, SS, C and DH. If you remove the first 15 games of the season for Buxton where he had 4 hits in 49 at bats he's has a .250 BA, .328 OBP, .356 SLG and a .683 OPS. If he can increase his overall numbers to get his OPS to .750 I think everyone would be happy with that production based on the elite defense he provides. SS has been a real disappointment this year. Polanco looked great the first month or two but has drastically fallen down. If Gordon is still in the organization next season he might be able to come up mid way through the season. As a few other's pointed out above Garver could have a big impact on this lineup as he's an ideal platoon with Castro. I'm hoping Gimenez is moved in the next week to two weeks and Garver is given plenty of playing time for the last six weeks of the season. DH is the one position I'd like to see the Twins spend money on in the offseason. Get someone who has a high OBP and is going to hit 25 + homeruns. A bench next season of Granite, Garver, Escobar and another FA could be a strong bench.
  4. Some potentially good news to start off August with.
  5. What about one of Tyler Watson, Rafael Bautista or Kelvin Gutierrez plus another lower level prospect? Is that too much or too little?
  6. If that is the case who should the Twins be targeting from the Nationals? A couple of prospects in the 15 to 25 range?
  7. Could the Twins have a new trade partner for Dozier? Any specific prospects from Arizona that people are excited about?
  8. Based on his numbers it looks like he's had three straight year of success. Consistently has a WHIP of 1.00 or below and striking out more than a batter per inning. And the fact he's already at AA is exciting. I'd assume he'd start next season at AAA and then could move up from there, so he should be able to help the Twins next season. Does anyone know if he has to be on the 40 man?
  9. On that note. Do you know why the MLB doesn't allow teams to trade their picks?
  10. Hopefully the player they're referring to is a relief pitcher and not Stewart or Thorpe.
  11. Congrats! On a side note I'm still completely confused on why Granite is batting anywhere near the top of the order... In no way shape or form should he be batting above 9th.
  12. I feel like the Twins would want to at least see Garver play a few games and to make sure he's not completely overwhelmed before they did something with Gimenez.
  13. I'd be fine with Wade. I think he's going to be a solid MLB player, but the Twins have most of the outfield locked up with Buxton and Kepler (I'm not convinced with Rosario). I also don't think the Twins can afford to trade any pitching prospect for a rental at this point.
