  1. I would say a 99% chance it would have affected the rest of our draft strategy.
  2. I agree. I would give him the rest of the season, to see if he can mature into a professional hitter. If not, I would pursue a free agent with some pop. Palka and Granite are nothing more than depth on a contending team.
  3. Don't worry you will again. It seems the world has become unglued because of early injuries to Jay and Stewart. These things have a way of straightening themselves out on the way to Target Field.
  4. You have never heard anyone from the Twins, say any of these players were fast to the majors. Melotakis, Chargois, Jones, Burdi, and Bard have all missed a great deal of time due to injuries and injuries are part of the game.
  5. I would do it in a heartbeat. I would hate to see Gordon go, but the only other alternative I see is to trade our AA starting pitchers. Losing Gordon is less painful than Gonsalves, Romero, or Thorpe-types.
  6. Only the ones who want to trade Dozier and Santana for pie-in-the-sky.
  7. Anyone our favorite team trades, instantly becomes a board favorite. Any player we receive in return, instantly becomes a board scapegoat. It's a game we play here on TD.
  8. Jepsen almost pitched us into the play-offs, since we came up short it was a bad trade. That's silly. Hindsight is truly a wonderful tool.
  9. I could care less that Hicks and Meyer are gone and I have no doubt the new regime will be buyers. Package several of our overrated prospects for a proven starting pitcher. Once again, free agency is very overrated and is 50/50 at best. See what we get at the deadline, take a deep breath, then look at free agency.
  10. I don't believe you can tell that by looking at only one metric. Also, Brock said it some time ago, we do not have 25 players better than Mauer.
  11. Good catch that we only drafted 3 lefties. It's been an organizational weakness for some time, that Rob Antony finally addressed at last year's trade deadline. I'm convinced we will package several of our top young arms and trade for a proven vet at the deadline, yet view Gonsalves, Thorpe, Jay, and Melotakis as all but untouchable.
  12. Rosario. Chargois and Burdi, may well be here, but are injured. No doubt you will see some shiny new things before much longer.
  13. We have 2 ultra reliable starters. Foolish to spent 100-150M on an ace. Time to start thinking about signing Sano, Buxton, etc. to long term contracts.
  14. My best guess is we will package 2 of our AA arms to get a proven starting pitcher at the deadline. During the off season, I believe we will sign a free agent in the 3 year, 45-50M range. Having the front of the rotation set with Santana and Berrios is huge. We have the money and prospects to fill out 3,4,5.
  15. The way I look at it is, they have been in the hunt 2 of the last 3 years.
  16. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only Boras guys I'm aware of are Alex Meyer and Eades.
  17. How is this different than the board members who want to trade Santana and Dozier?
  18. Let's see them put together a IFA class like we did in 2009.
  19. I have time to wait and see this steep drop off. 32-26, first place.
  20. 31-26, first place. Plenty of time for the shiny new things if and when the season goes south.
  21. The scary part is that by the end of the year 10 starters may well be necessary. As step one I would package 2 of our AA arms for a proven starter. In an emergency situation, I can't help but think Wilk and Tepesch types will be needed, but we have more than enough pie-in-the sky to get one proven starter at this point in time.
