  1. The 2017 draft appears to be very strong. We were the first team in baseball history to make the playoffs after losing 100 games in 2017. The 2017/2018 off-season was the best in franchise history and this is our best trade deadline ever. Not a good time to be part of the I'm smarter than the FO clique.
  2. Lynn is a solid 3 with a good track record. He always was our best trade chip. Note, the one player who may help this year was part of the return.
  3. He has 7 times more wins than Whatsamatta Yu.
  4. No one anywhere said it was a good trade for SD. Of course it was a money move. We now have 7.25M additional to spent next off-season and don't give me that nonsense about the Pohlads pocketing the money.
  5. I don't believe we can contend without Buxton and Sano. They have 2 months to fix what's between their ears. The last thing a good team learns, is how to win. Give them the luxury of 2 months to figure it out. I'm not going anywhere.
  6. As you know, 90% of all prospects never make it out of "A" ball. 4 of the 5 look good to me. We picked up 2 good arms to improve our numbers, along with 2 athletic outfielders. I fully expect this to be our 3rd strong deadline in a row. No idea when we will see the results.
  7. No one's untouchable, but I wouldn't trade him. Berrios, Pineda, Gibson, Romero, and ???, along with the boys in band being back, that's good enough to get us back in the hunt.
  8. Never happen. Mauer will be back for 2 more years at a price we can live with.
  9. No need to move Rodney. He has an option for 6.5M next season, which is more than fair.
  10. I'm giving the new regime the benefit of the doubt. If he ends up being the next Alex Meyer or Trevor May, I'll know better.
  11. The board was screaming to DFA Hughes. Miraculously they were able to package Hughes and a second round pick, and in return received a catching prospect and hoodwinked the Padres into picking up 7.25M of Hughes outstanding salary obligation. An unnamed GM referred to this as an insane move by the Padres.
  12. Why would we want it to change? A deep system just got deeper. Last article I read had our farm system rated at #6. Could well be, we move up. I particularly liked we picked up 2 young starting pitching prospects. At some point in time, pitching becomes a numbers game. You can never have too many.
  13. A deep farm system just got deeper. On Inside Twins, Falvey called the pitcher they got for Pressly, a potential front line starter.
  14. As long as Sano and Buxton don't crap the bed again, we will make the playoffs next season. You may recognize them as TR's guys. I can't help but remember, you wanted to throw the towel in early last season when we were still in first place.
  15. It's called trading high. The core of 4, plus Rosario and Polanco are still alive and kicking.
  16. I thought our favorite team would partially fill the gap of starting pitching between Cedar Rapids and Rochester at the deadline. One for Escobar and then one for Pressly. At some point in time, starting pitching comes down to a numbers game.
  17. The theory is Belisle is plan C. The FO has every intention of replacing him on the roster, with a back of the bullpen guy at the trade deadline, if at all possible. If I'm not mistaken, board scapegoat Belisle had the lowest ERA on the team after 6-15 last season.
  18. Were you aware, entering this season Castro caught the second most innings of any catcher in baseball since 2013? We will be fine at catcher next season, and I can't help but notice the new regime is adding catching prospects on a regular basis. Journeymen catchers like Gimenez and Wilson are never going to be popular on fan boards.
  19. My sources have Trevor May with the Bad News Bears next season.
  20. Buxton and Sano getting fixed before the end of the season is the key. During the off-season, I don't recall anyone suggesting we sign Trout and Harper, in case they crapped the bed. The teams under performing is unfortunate and unexpected, get over it. We were in the hunt in 2015 and 2017, and the core will remain in place. Last article I read, had our farm system rated #6, and we have as much money to spent this off- season as any team in baseball.
  21. The tear down was when they traded for Meyer and May, and the complete rebuild followed. Sano and Buxton crapped the bed, they didn't die. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water.
  22. I believe every writer on the board except 1 or 2, predicted we would make the playoffs. They didn't suddenly become dumb. Every year in every sport, injuries derail teams. Polanco missed 80 games, and Buxton and Sano have thus far crapped the bed. I'm not throwing the baby out with the bath water.
  23. A solid 3 with a good track record. He's our best trade chip. Enough scapegoating.
  24. Enough hatred for TR, he's long gone. Falvey said the other day, they have already brought in guys from 15-16 other organizations.
