  1. Berrios had the worst rookie debut of any starting pitcher in the history of the franchise.
  2. Kind of like board favorite Vargas. The difference is Gibson will be in The Show for at least the next few years and has trade value.
  3. No doubt Gibson will be back next season. A 4/5 is worth 6-8 million. Gibson is cheap and has trade value.
  4. No it's not, and no he wasn't. Duffey beat him out plain and simple. You really believe Berrios, who months later would have the worst rookie starting pitching debut in the history of the franchise, would have made us better in the hunt? I've heard the same nonsense about Alex Meyer if he had been brought up on 2014. If they are not ready, they are not ready.
  5. The old regime took a lot of crap on this board, but they are certainly shining now.
  6. No we didn't. We brought up Duffey in August. Did you really want to see Berrios crap the bed?
  7. Just think, board scapegoat Gibson, is practically an All-Star compared to Berrios in 2016.
  8. No question we need to pick up a 2/3 starting pitcher this off season. If so, I believe we can go 10 deep with starters who will be acceptable to most on the board. For all intents and purposes, the rebuild will end with this season. The core of 4, plus Rosario and Polanco with be in year 3, and Gonsalves, Romero, Jorge, Slegers, and Stewart are well positioned to start as needed. I would bring back Belisle, and let our cast of thousands fight it out in the pen. We should have option 1, how we use the pen with a lead, set early in the season. Option 2, how we use the pen when we are behind, will be a work in progress, probably till the trade deadline next season. Good time to be a Twin's fan!
  9. I'll factor it in. His after draft physical showed he was injured so they offered less money. If I'm not mistaken they got that pick back the next draft. We drafted Gibson knowing he was injured and that worked out okay. I'm not positive, but I believe Bard was drafted injured also.
  10. Sano was not a done deal at 3B going into ST. Polanco was not a done deal at SS going into ST. Buxton was not a done deal at CF going into ST and I was fairly certain after 30-45 days in, he was headed to Rochester. Berrios started at Rochester. I would guess the new regime couldn't possibly be happier with the talent TR accumulated. Let's not forget, we were the 2nd youngest team in baseball, weighted by playing time. Also, I would be surprised if at least one of the national experts, doesn't rate our farm system in the top 10.
  11. If they pitch like Belisle has in the past 2 months, it's a great move.
  12. Did you happen to read the thread once the 25 man roster was announced? I certainly didn't read much or anything on this board, that in any way hinted we were obviously ready for a step forward.
  13. I have never heard the Twins say anything positive about Garver. I believe he will get a cup of coffee come September, but if I'm not mistaken, they view him as another Pinto, and will not trust him with our young pitchers.
  14. The schedule is favorable the rest of the way. A win against a bad team, counts the same as a win against a good team. They could finish the season with a run, just like the Royals did in 2014. All the talk back then was the Royals were going to clean house, but then they got hot. The rest is history.
  15. I do. Haley made sense coming off a 103 loss season. Since we are still in the hunt, no time to babysit a Rule 5 pickup. Things are fluid right now.
  16. They did as complete a teardown as they could when they traded for Meyer and May. Drafting since 2012 has been very good.
  17. No. Also, I doubt Hurlbut and Siegers are even on the radar. I'm sure we will see Gonsalves no later than 9-1.
  18. A proven vet is not a pig. If you expect a Greinke or Kershaw in every trade, you are always going to be disappointed.
  19. If they trade Stewart, he'll be the next David Ortiz.
  20. They weren't excuses though they were facts. Besides Duffey beat him out. Maybe the board can start a campaign to have Gonsalves pitch game 163.
  21. Every team already has their own mid-level unneeded prospects, why would they pay to get more?
