  1. For $100,000, it's foolish not to take a look. With Burdi, Bard, and Chargois the front office sent a strong message. If everything is more or less equal, they are going to keep those with a track record of being healthy.
  2. The Pale Hose GM is starting his 6th year and just finished his tear down at the trade deadline. You won't see them for quite some time.
  3. A bad contract is a bad contract, regardless of how you spin it.
  4. I'm expressing my opinion, if that's okay. Two years if he's great, four more years if he sucks. Six years for 126-150M. It will easily be one of the 10 worst.
  5. The Darvish contract is one of the 10 worst in baseball. Let's see what Theo does with an anchor around his neck.
  6. They had already been rebuilding for over a year. Ryan was brought back as GM towards the end of 2011. We received Worley as part of the tear down.
  7. We have all kinds of depth. Half a season without Polanco is not a season changer.
  8. He'll be fine. The past 2 seasons he's been victimized at times by over usage. With a set role he should shine. He is going to benefit as much as anyone by our improved bullpen.
  9. Grossman is not going anywhere. Granite and Wade have zero power. Cave is insurance in case Rosario or Kepler are out for an extensive period of time. If so, Grossman and Cave will be expected to minimize the power shortage. Cave is a solid pickup with late developing power and 3 options. Excellent depth move for the next few seasons.
  10. Exactly! Berrios got thrown to the wolves. We're past that. With patience and luck, we're going to have a great big lefty in the middle of the rotation for some time to come, and shortly thereafter we may have the mythical ace if Romero can refine his change up.
  11. I'm more concerned with 3B also. He's only 19, but I can see Wander Javier being moved over to 3B to make room for Lewis.
  12. I can't see Kinley going north. We made too many win now moves to babysit a Rule 5 guy.
  13. 40% of our starting rotation was drafted and developed by our favorite team. I look for Gonsalves by the All-Star break and Romero in September.
  14. I predicted this off season would be the greatest in franchise history, but unfortunately it got deleted.
  15. I don't know how much more obvious it could be. He's a proven vet. Mejia isn't and may never be. If I'm not mistaken, he was the 5th highest rated starting pitcher in free agency based on projected WAR. I know you believe in those WAR things. This board was screaming that the old regime didn't believe in advanced metrics. Now we get a group that clearly does, and we are going to pretend we know more? Also, every single AL team will take pitchers from the NL.
  16. I'm not puzzled at all. If we have the money, Lynn is obviously a better option than Mejia. You can never have too much pitching. To look ahead a bit, it appears we are positioning ourselves to be buyers and sellers at the trade deadline. We may well have an excess bullpen arm or so, and with Pineda coming aboard next season, we have starting pitching options. We made solid deals this off season, but don't overlook, we barely touched our deep farm system, and few teams going forward have our payroll flexibility.
  17. There is room for both Morrison and Joe. Nice to hear someone refer to Morrison as a bridge. This is the first offseason since TD came into existence, that free agent pickups have not instantly become board scapegoats.
  18. No need to rush Romero. He's our best chance of developing a front of the rotation starter, in the next year or so. The next two that are mentioned as possible front line starters are teenagers.
  19. I'm just glad we are still in the hunt. The new regime is relentless.
  20. Grossman is more than serviceable in LF and RF. Don't pretend he's Arcia out there.
  21. When you have the stuff that Pressly has, you have to go that extra yard. Twinkietown did quite an article on Pressly in 2016.
