  1. The Twins aren't intent in treating 2019 as an evaluation year.
  2. But the Twins are planning on being competitive. It's still very early in free agency, but the direction to this point is clear, cohesive, and consistent. Keep watching, the night is still young.
  3. When I think of a TR signing, I always think of Sano, Kepler, Polanco, Buxton, Berrios, Santana, etc. How about you?
  4. The night is still young. I believe Jim Callis said we have 2 long term helps who will be ready next season.
  5. Free agency is 9 innings also and we're only in the 2nd or 3rd inning. Plenty of time to make the big splash.
  6. Polanco is part of the core. He'll move to 2B when Lewis is ready. Would not be surprised if we try to buy out some of his free agent years at some point in time.
  7. Mercenaries poisoning the well last season? I completely missed that. Feel they should block Lewis for a season or so?
  8. I'm close with this. I would move at least 2 of Stewart, Mejia, or Romero to the pen, then move them back to the rotation next season. Do we know if Mejia is healthy?
  9. It didn't hurt the team last year though. I hope we have another trade deadline, reasonably close to last season. I thought everyone knew, very difficult to lose on one year deals. Let's do the one year deals again, have another outstanding trade deadline, but have our stars on the playing field much more often this season.
  10. If you lived in Chicago as long as I did, you would be more worried about the St. Paul Saints than the White Sox. If your only concern is the Sox, indeed the Twins do have forever.
  11. By stars, you mean the 2 month rentals? I believe they may do that again at this year's deadline. I see us getting another haul.
  12. I would be shocked if payroll isn't reasonably close to last season. The only one I would offer a commitment to at this time is Rosario.
  13. Completely agree.
  14. Whose goal is that? Cano's contract may be the worst in baseball. Darvish's contract, which if memory serves, you were quite fond of, may be close.
  15. They got a MLB player for $100,000. I don't follow every other team and really don't care what they do. If the search committee had picked me, I would always take a rule 5 player. Always.
  16. Take a look at IFA. Few teams do as well as we do on a consistent basis.
  17. We had the most active off-season in franchise history last year. I expect more of the same.
  18. TR said on numerous occasions, anytime he went to the Pohlads with a request he always got it. For those who don't know, we got Sano because we were the only team that would take him, not knowing exactly how old he was at the time. The Pohlads are basically absentee owners. It could be worse.
  19. For $100,000 it's foolish not to take a rule 5 player. I haven't looked lately, but at one time Haley was on the best team in baseball. With us he was on the DL twice and couldn't seem to stay healthy. Injuries are part of the game, but the pick was a good one.
  20. That's because the organization sees the big picture. The draft is a lot more than just the first pick. What it does show, is taking starting pitching that high, is always a gamble.
  21. Injuries are part of the game. He didn't throw 100 innings in his first 3 years in the minors. Someone will take him.
  22. Reed has had too good of a career not to rebound. My biggest problem with Molly was overusing certain relievers. I think the pen is still a mess, even though we made solid moves last off season. We have decent starting pitching depth, and on my wish list is to package several, and get a 2/3 we can slot ahead of Berrios, Gibson, and Pineda. Also, I'm hoping Gibson or Pineda perform so well, they earn QO's.
  23. Any 2 of those 4 would be fine with me. We need to add 2 bombers. At this point in time we can't gamble Sano will become the player we hoped he would.
  24. If I'm not mistaken the team was .500 after May 1. We need to move some pieces around, but contending in 2019 is more than likely. Talk of rebuilding again makes no sense to me, nor does pointing toward 2020 and beyond. We have players to trade, a top 5 farm system, and as much money available as we have every had. There's nothing to wait for. Let's not forget, our last off season was the busiest ever and we followed that up with our busiest ever trade deadline.
  25. Early in the 2017 season, our Twins were the second youngest team in all of baseball, based on weighted playing time. It was posted right here.
