  1. The article was posted on this very board. I've cited it in 3 or 4 previous posts.
  2. That was mostly the TR haighters.
  3. This is nothing. We got 7.25M for the 74th pick in the 2019 draft.
  4. Perez is actually 27, the youngest starting pitcher in free agency. He was much higher rated as a prospect that Gonsalves. I believe I read 15-20th prospect in all of baseball. Can't help but notice he touched 97 the other day, which probably makes him the hardest throwing lefty in the organization. Did you know early in 2017, we had the 2nd youngest team in baseball based on weighted playing time time? Most teams do not promote as quickly as we do.
  5. The most knowledgeable member on the board for IFA is biggentleben. But as the other member posted, there is no list.
  6. I posted this before let me post agaln. Of the 15 highest paid relievers in 2018 free agency, none earned more than 1 WAR. Am I the only one who noticed relievers once referred to as dumpster driving are now considered good or even above average relievers.
  7. I heard 5/80 or 6/100. He's nuts if he thinks a closer is going to get top tier starting pitching money. Hope he sits out.
  8. They didn't. That's just the way it worked out.
  9. Mike Radcliff said on Inside Twins that we are one of a handful of teams that will follow 16 and 17 year-olds. You may have noticed the pitcher we received in the Pressly trade was signed by the Astros at 19.
  10. Over the years I've seen several catchers catch like this. You have to be pretty athletic. With men on base his stance will be more traditional. This is the first time I've seen him. He has me interested.
  11. Gonsalves has pitched all of 24 innings in The Show. His debut was not dissimilar to Gibson's, May's, or Berrios's. Probably 80% of all starting pitchers go through the same process. It's often said our favorite team can't develop starting pitching. I'm projecting 4 members of the rotation in 2020 will have been drafted and developed by the Twins. 1 Bill Smith guy and 3 of TR's.
  12. I don't think it's going to happen this early, but if this was mid-season, I could see us dangling Castro. Going into last season Perez had the most innings caught since 2013, Castro was second.
  13. Sometimes they refer to this as power over hit tool for catchers. If a catcher can hit .225-.230 in The Show with 12-15 bombs they can have a nice career.
  14. I agree, that's the weakness in the system. We're losing the numbers game. No doubt we will be very active at the trade deadline, because we will have a number of 2 month rentals to trade. But that is so slow because we're getting basically players from A ball. I know prospect for prospect trades are seldom made, but if the search committee had picked me that's the way I would try to go.
  15. Berrios is more valuable than Hicks. You'll find our superstars amongst the core of 4 plus Rosario and Polanco. You can add Lewis and Kirilloff shortly. Hicks was almost 28 before the lights went on for him and there was certainly no meltdown thread when Hicks was traded. Speaking about asset management, I just reviewed MLB.com's top 30 Twins prospects. 6 of the 30 we received at the trade deadline. RB................I think you're slipping into the Twilight Zone.
  16. May is the most overrated player in the history of this board. Compare how many of those WAR things Revere earned compared To May. He pitched all of 25 innings last season and one member referred to him as our 12th most valuable asset?
  17. It had nothing to do with the firing of any Twins personnel. He stopped being a headcase in 2017, that's all. The lesson to be learned is not draft headcases?
  18. We lost big time on the Alex Meyer and Trevor May trades also. Both were the right thing to do at the time.
  19. Without hindsight it was a solid trade. Murphy spent parts of 3 seasons in The Show with possibly the best run organization in baseball. I read recently the Yankees have the largest analytics department and the best domestic and international scouts in all of baseball. Don't forget, no one on the board was shedding big tears for Hicks until over a year after the trade
  20. We got a catcher in the Hughes trade, one from IFA money sent to Seattle, and our 6th round pick in the 2013 draft continues to move up. Catcher is not the black hole it was.
  21. Only similarities between the two are both are coming off career years, both have good power, and the national experts thought both were solid moves. Cron is a low risk, high reward placeholder. Rooker and Kirilloff will probably be up in September, and hopefully one will take over 1B early in 2020.
  22. I give them a B. Brought in 3.75 regulars, didn't touch our farm system and still have money to maneuver at the deadline.
  23. I haven't read a thing from the national experts saying he is a 1 or 2. May be somewhere someplace, but to say we're the only people in baseball is wildly exaggerated. My guess is Castro will be traded, no later than the deadline. Then we will find out if he's more than the flavor of the month.
  24. The more I think about it, the more I agree with the wait and see approach. Obviously at this point in time Buxton and Sano have not overachieved as we assumed they would. If both tank this season, the teardown will begin at the deadline. If only one shines, the decision will probably be we can wait for Lewis, Kirillioff, etc. Also, I would not automatically trade the one who tanks. Hicks was almost 28 before the light came on, and I believe Go Go Gomez was reasonable close to that. We bought in 3.75 regulars. Parker and Perez are placeholders waiting to be replaced by our near Major League ready arms. Time to rock and roll.
