  1. Once Buxton's back, it's easy just to have Gonzalez play 1B. Until then, more playing time for Adrianza at 3B with Sano at 1B. Garver playing there makes sense too but i don't see them doing it.
  2. I know pitching and defense cost us this game, but I really wish they would put Arreaz in the lead-off spot. Kepler has what 1 lead off HR this year? And Polanco is slumping hardcore.
  3. This. We've heard a lot how the new regime uses the bullpen based on the situation not the inning. Saving Dyson/Romo for the 8th/9th is what Gardy would do. Can't use the closer yet, it's not their inning!
  4. Perhaps, but that assumes an average player was up next and not Jonathon "Clutch" Schoop. There is an 80% chance he would have struck out or popped up.
  5. I figure the Twins had about a 50/50 chance of winning the game in the 9th if they hold the runner (20% chance Schoop comes through, 24% chance Kepler does if he fails, and 6% wild pitch/other). So if it would have been a bang/bang play fine. But seeing where he was when the ball hit the cutoff, it's inexcusable.
  6. Mentally, I feel that if the lead is lost, it's not coming back. Tomorrow is huge. Win that game and send Berrios to the mound Sunday to get a split. Lose, tomorrow and we can focus on the wild card race, IMO.
  7. Maybe for other states. In MN, it's assume the worst, prepare for the worst, be happy with anything else.
  8. If the Twins lose the division, the FO's failure to add a starter will be the reason. How good would Dallas Kuechel look about now? Perez needs to be DFA'd or sent to the pen ASAP and Schoop needs to join him.
  9. While this is fair, he has hurt himself hitting the wall a couple other times and missed 4-5 games. What frustrates me is that every time this happens we hear "wouldn't change a thing" "I'd tell him to do it again" from both him and the Twins. At some point, it does need to change, even if this particular instance was unavoidable.
  10. Berrios has not been terrible his last 10 starts, that's ridiculous. He had a bad night. Rocco probably left him in too long, but I don't think it mattered. At least he didn't burn any of the the top 4 guys in the bullpen in a futile effort. Hopefully Berrios will re-group for Sunday and you will try out some punctuation.
  11. I'd rather see Wade or whoever else is available than more Cave. The defense alone is unwatchable. The at bats are just icing on the cake.
  12. Brutal debut for Dyson. The use of Rogers in what was a 7-0 game on Wednesday bit us. This is the 4th time we have reached 25 games over .500. We have yet to reach 26 games over.
  13. The Twins should have added a starter. That said, several teams were trying to buy and sell and not making sense. What are the D-Backs thinking? Why trade Grienke, replace him with Leake and hold on to Ray? So you can still give a half-hearted shot at the WC? Same for the Giants. And the Reds. And the Mets. And the Rangers
  14. So optimistically: We play the Yankees in the ALDS. Berrios pitches us to two wins and we bash our way to a 3rd. The Indians take out the Astros somehow. We beat the Indians in the ALCS. We play someone other than the Dodgers in the WS.
  15. Underwhelming, but better than nothing. I suppose you can argue that with Houston getting Grienke, the Twins getting Minor or even Stroman might not have mattered.
  16. Being a Minnesota sports fan is depressing. My interest level in the rest of the season is plummeting by the minute.
  17. This is Falvine clinging to their prospects. The only one the Pohlads may factor into would be Grienke.
  18. The Division Series will be against either the Astros or Yankees. No chance with this bullpen.
  19. He'd be nice to have. Funny how the Brewers can make trade almost every year and they're farm system isn't gutted.
  20. Because that's just usually how it works out. Cleveland isn't going anywhere and Chicago might be very good in 2 years.
  21. At a certain point, if they're never ever going to even try to win it all, what's the point? This is 2006 all over again, and our next shot might be in 2032. And if this goes as expected and Favley is still around, he'll cling to his prospects and dream of 2035.
  22. If they do nothing, my confidence level in ever winning a WS with Falvine drops to zero.
