  1. I'm not sure what you mean by "ready". He might not be good over there, but he's not good at 3B either. He will do less damage at 1B IMO. He will probably DH by 2021. I suppose that's argument for leaving him at 3B and trying to gut out 1 more year. But even once he's DHing it would be good to have him split time at 1B.
  2. Well, if they were willing to do it for Buxton, Rosario plus a top 5 prospect beats that, IMO. But perhaps their intentions have changed.
  3. I have nothing against Cron, but I'd strongly prefer they move Sano to 1B and fill 3rd with a free agent or shuffle the IF if Gordon is ready. The IF defense overall was poor and Sano at 3B is the weakest link.
  4. Losing on the road to the #20 team is not cause to plummet 12 spots in the rankings. 12th is where they are in AP/Coaches and is about right.
  5. That was my first thought, but if they suspected that, I don't think they would be coming out and saying natural causes. (A spider/snake bite would not be either.) Outside of some sort of un-diagnosed heart condition, there aren't a lot of natural causes for a 23 y/o with no known illnesses.
  6. I would trade Rosario if the return is decent. Under team control for 2 more years and I have zero interest in keeping him long term. Would Rasario and the #2 pitching prospect (start with a B, I won't try to spell it) be enough to get Syndergaard?
  7. Very sad. What could the natural causes be at 23?
  8. Someone had to take the mantle when Mauer retired.
  9. I've never been a huge fan of watching Odo grind through 5 innings on 100 pitches. I guess I don't mind making him the QO, but I'm not that interested in giving him $45-50 million over 3 years. I'd extend the QO and if he declines, take the draft pick and spend the $ on Cole or Mad Baum etc. My preferred address for the rotation is make a deal for Syndergaard, take your best shot at Cole, and then take your best shot at Mad Baum if that fails. That still leaves the #4 spot open, but I'd rather fill that with Pineda for $8 million than Odo for $18.
  10. Get a deal done for Syndergaard (Rosario and the #2 pitching prospect whose name I can never spell). Make a run at Cole. If he balks, Mad Baum is a acceptable alternative.
  11. Assuming you only have a 30% chance to win each game, the odds of losing 16 in a row is 3 in 1,000
  12. I get the frustration, but the notion that the fans being angrier would change anything management does is a stretch. Even in a play-off game, most of the 40,000 there are fairly casual fans who don't live and die with every at bat.
  13. If they don't somehow acquire a starter better than Berrios and a decent #3, Falvine should go elsewhere.
  14. Can you imagine TK or Bud Grant or Mike Zimmer saying that? I can't.
  15. Rocco says he's proud and not frustrated at all. Could he be any more tone deaf?
  16. This was foretold when the front office punted on getting help for the rotation. Maybe they were right, I'm not sure it would have mattered. We could have run Mike Minor or Stroman out there tonight and lost 4-2 instead of 8-2. But at least we'd have given ourselves a chance.
  17. The front office told us this wasn't our year when the refused to part with any of their top 15 prospects at the trade deadline. So instead of starting Mike Minor today, it's Randy Dobnak.
  18. Hopefully Falvey found his Cory Kluber.
  19. I wouldn't do that for a reliever. And isn't his injury the type that is very hard to recover from?
  20. Congrats Twins on a fun season! Bring on the Yankees. Play with house money.
  21. 1. Morris. End of discussion. 2. Cruz 3. Chili 4. Molitor
  22. A few Rocco beefs: -What is it going to take to get Eddie "weak foul to 3rd" Rosario out of the clean-up spot? -How do you not PH Cron for Castro in the bottom of the 5th. You have a chance to put the game out of reach and Castro's hitting .100 over the last month. You had already inserted Astudillo to play 1st, he can just move to catcher. No-brainer. -Hildenberger, Gibson and Stewart cannot pitch for this team again in 2019.
  23. No way. $8 million is what we paid him on his current contract to be the starter. The gap between him and Astudillo isn't big. And Astudillo will work for minimum salary. That $8 million is best used elsewhere. Stash a "Magic Fingers" Bobby Wilson type in AAA to be safe. (But not actual Bobby Wilson please.)
