  1. Buxton went 1-4 with an RBI single and 2 ks as the DH for the Saints tonight. Is this the new goal for him to potentially contribute as a bat only? Will he try playing in the field in the coming days?
  2. Mattison is just a guy… I agree with y’all, he should not be a starter.
  3. Double post. Thanks internet
  4. Akers is literally a salary dump. I don’t know why they won’t give Chandler some run before taking on Akers. Is he really that bad in pass protection? That seems to be the equalizer for RBs.
  5. Now Wainwright can breathe a sigh of relief for accomplishing his goal of 200 wins. He’s had a really tough season and I’m sure at times this summer he wondered if he made the right choice coming back for 2023.
  6. How often do you think about the Roman Empire?
  7. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/09/details-from-rays-stadium-announcement.html This doesn’t sound like a great fix long term for the team. If the location was the issue and getting to that location, it’s going to be close to the same spot as Tropicana Field… The stadium itself will cost $1.3 billion but is part of a larger redevelopment of the Historic Gas Plant District site, where Tropicana Field is already located, which will cost $6.5 billion overall. Despite the announcement, the financing hasn’t quite been finalized just yet. The Rays are covering more than half of the $1.3 billion price tag for the stadium, approximately $700MM. That leaves $600MM to be covered by the city of St. Petersburg and Pinellas County. That structure has been agreed to by the Rays, St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch and Pinellas County administrator Barry Burton, but it still needs to be approved by the city council and the county commission. Assuming that comes to pass and everything gets rubber stamped, the Rays will sign a 30-year lease that starts with the 2028 season. The stadium will seat around 30,000 under a fixed roof, with artificial turf on the field and “operable walls to bring the outside in.”
  8. Maybe one of the Ohio teams becomes another relocation opportunity. Cincinnati has a cool ballpark and exciting young players. I don’t get it.
  9. When the Twins aren’t on TV, I highly recommend watching The Saint of Second Chances on Netflix! All about the St Paul Saints and the wackiness of owner Mike Veeck.
  10. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/38430468/report-rays-complete-deal-new-stadium-st-petersburg https://x.com/tbtimes_rays/status/1703741614324134301?s=46&t=YdnB8yC6KsAGCRK6WIUWqg
  11. Green Bay is being extremely cautious with Jordan Love. He’s basically getting the Ponder kid gloves treatment right now. He hasn’t faced a legitimate pass rush yet and we will see if he crumbles when he does. Chicago I’m becoming convinced their coaching is no good. Fields doesn’t appear to be the answer at QB and they’ll be back to square 1 picking a QB and likely a new coaching staff.
  12. It’s a different beast winning games when there are expectations to win. They went on their winning streak last year after they started 1-7 or something close to that.
  13. All 4 NFC North teams lost this week. Win next week vs. LA Chargers of Anaheim and they’re right back in the mix.
  14. I haven’t been as tuned in to the Twins in recent weeks. 51 RBI next to Lewis’ name really popped out at me. He is 3rd on the Twins in that category in only 55 games. Correa is #1 with 65 RBI in 133 games… Kepler #2 with 60 RBI in 120 games.
  15. I don’t miss guys like Big Mike Pineda huffing and puffing for 50 seconds between every pitch during a game in mid-June. I don’t miss watching 4 floaters during intentional walks. I don’t miss Joe West. And I won’t miss Angel Hernandez whenever he hangs it up.
  16. Kirk’s got the no trade clause… And doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who will spontaneously move to NJ. If he did waive his NTC, can we make it “conditional” to get the 2024 1st round pick that Green Bay won’t get trading away Rodgers?
  17. 0-2 due to a terrible turnover differential, mental mistakes, and horrid play on both sides of the line. The honeymoon phase is over for KOC and KAM. This is a transition year, not a contending year.
  18. That’s the nuclear option… I wouldn’t do it unless it’s clear he’s not signing an extension here. Admittedly he is my favorite player on the team by far. I just prefer keeping a guy who is breaking every receiving record through “x” number of seasons.
  19. And that will do it. That’s the difference between a team that heavily prioritizes the trenches and a team that doesn’t give a hoot about it.
  20. Kirk is once again getting crushed almost every time he passes the ball. He’s a tough SOB.
  21. Still a ballgame folks!
  22. Addison!! Dude’s gonna be a stud!
  23. The turnovers on offense are getting comical now. Evidently every team knows how to strip sack Kirk. 0-2 was pretty likely after the unfortunate loss on Sunday. This is going to get really rocky. Will Kwesi change course and trade Kirk/Danielle/O’Niell?
  24. Good point about the wind direction… The cab is pretty cozy too. @ashburyif you want to go ahead and email the weight of your party ahead of time we’ll get you taken care of, no problem!
  25. Sure, you could get tickets like a normal person. Or, you could ask @wsnydeshow to watch the game from the crane off in the distance in LF…
