  1. Keuchel is either brilliant or brutal. We got brutal Keuchel tonight.
  2. Couldn’t agree more. It’s really sad to see and read about this is a fan. It has to be torturous for Buxton personally. It is probably time to look into the more “career saving” procedures… Unless he is set to retire this offseason.
  3. Admittedly, 2023 has been the most difficult year of my life so far professionally. Any advice from the crowd who’s experienced the highest of highs and lowest of lows?
  4. Ah, you met my cousin! Yep, that’s him alright.
  5. But he’s paid so much money! The AAV told me so 🙄
  6. He’s worth a hell of a lot more than $5 million this year, no? And it’s pretty easy to get out of the inflated back half of the contract. I don’t know what you were hoping for. It was Hockenson’s turn for a new deal and other TEs younger than him will be due for higher contracts. It’s just like QBs. At one point in time, Jimmy G was the highest paid QB in football and he was not close to being the best.
  7. The championship or bust folks IMO really underestimate the following decade of bad play in this scenario. I have almost zero memory of 2012-2014 Twins teams because I stopped watching them. The only thing I recall is the Silver Linings Star Tribune article to pay attention to the minors because the MLB club is hopeless.
  8. Hockenson’s deal is actually quite team friendly. https://x.com/therealforno/status/1697364873791844637?s=46&t=YdnB8yC6KsAGCRK6WIUWqg
  9. We could have scored 40 runs the past 2 games and I’d still be interested in 2 effective relievers available for pennies on the dollar.
  10. Whelp. No one is coming from the outside to save the season. Gotta roll with the same guys and hope it’s enough to win a playoff game.
  11. So basically, do we want to be Royals fans? Tough call. I would like to witness a sports championship in my lifetime. 1 year old me doesn’t exactly remember Jack Morris Game 7 in 1991. The following decade of 90+ losses would be enough for me to stop following the Twins all together.
  12. Some random hot takes I have about the upcoming season… The AFC is going to be a bloodbath. The East has 4 competitive teams, North and West has 3 for sure. I think the Bills are going to be a massive disappointment this year, missing the playoffs. Maybe even old friend Stefon Diggs forces a trade out of there. The Chargers and Browns show their true colors as a franchise, continuing to play below expectations. We will be talking about the Jaguars as a Super Bowl contender this year. Trevor Lawrence cements himself as the next QB discussed after Mahomes and Burrow.
  13. We will see what happens tomorrow. If i were the Marlins or Reds I’d pick up all of the pitching available.
  14. How short of a leash do you have with Ingram? Brandel graded out pretty well this preseason, especially with pass blocking. I’m hoping/wondering if Brandel is a Joe Berger type. My god, it’s sad I have to reference him as the last pretty good guard we’ve had.
  15. Rob Manfred and Co. are praying this is an outlier event. If not, like you said, this will continued to be (ab)used as a way to manage expiring assets. Do you proactively patch this loophole in the offseason? Or wait for something dramatic like this happening again?
  16. I like this OL signing. He’s graded out fairly well on PFF in his career. Better pass blocker than run blocker. Good O’Niell insurance.
  17. Matt Moore is my top choice. And I’m sure it’s 29 other teams’ top choice. Everyone can use an effective lefty in the pen. I’d place claims on all 3 relievers and pass on the OF players.
  18. That is a good point. The Cardinals GM already stated on record he’s looking for 3 starting pitchers this winter. They could use their bad record to claim Giolito and buy an exclusive negotiation window after the season.
  19. Health. He’s taken time off the last few years due to that. He’s been indicating this in his press conferences. Ken Rosenthal wrote a piece about him not being a “retirement tour” guy. Gleeman spoke about it on a recent podcast that it’s kind of expected now.
  20. Is no one saying the quiet part out loud yet? This is very likely Francona’s last season managing.
  21. That was a vintage in his prime Torii Hunter diving catch.
  22. Can you, just as legal mumbo jumbo, say you guarantee I’ll get $200 when the Twins win the World Series?
  23. The pitchers will be instant claims. We will likely have the opportunity to claim one or both of Grichuk and Renfroe. They don’t look like upgrades to me, but I’ll let Falvey be the judge. On a side note, it only took one month for all of their good publicity of going all in to disintegrate. Ohtani should sit the rest of the season as well since they gave up.
  24. Maybe the RH outfielders Renfroe and Grichuk. But frankly they’re not that much better than Luplow.
