  1. Twins website still shows the game is scheduled. I'm going into the deluge.
  2. That’s crazy - Charities routinely seek large donations from wealthy people, because they donate. But owning a sports team is not charity. The Pohlads had reduced revenue this year (Tv contract problems), but they still put a competitive team on the field. You really think the Twins should have re-signed old pitchers Maeda and Sonny Gray, or overpaid at the Deadline. Ryan Reynolds is not a Minnesotan. He’s a Canadian who became successful in Hollywood. He has no allegiance to this area!!! He’d move the team at the first sign of financial trouble as an owner.
  3. I was at Target Field. There were many Cardinals fans. They had a good old time. There was no joy for the locals in Mudville, however.
  4. These guys are adequate. For the Twins it’s been all downhill after Ray Scott in the 60s. Best ex-jogk color guys, Jim , Jim Kaat and Jim Kaat. The current best sports announcer in Mn is Paul Allen for the Vikings. it happens so rarely that Minnesota gets one that stands out; Al Shaver with the North Stars and Kevin Harlan with the T-Wolves would be the top ones ever in these towns along with Ray Scott (since I started paying attention in 1961).
  5. Add Morris to that group. Even if two or three don’t pan out, the future looks bright.
  6. With Andrew Morris up at AAA St Paul and the group of young pitchers up at the MLB club, there is no reason to sign another 4-5 type starter to join Chris Paddack on the veteran side of the depth chart.
  7. I’m going. Interesting to see if Buxton returns against lefty Ragans - I suspect he will get more rest , or maybe DH today. His MRI on his hip was NEG. AND he’s day to day.
  8. KC is now in 2nd place. Twins need to feast on the decimated team on the South Side this weekend.
  9. MLB is closer to having its first Klingon player: Jarrett Whorff promoted to AA! and in the words of Whorff: “I am Klingon. If you doubt it, a demonstration can be arranged.” MAKE IT SO!!!!
  10. The Twins need to see improvement from their lefty relievers. It’s fun to watch Thielbar’s curveball when it buckles a batter’s knees, but he hasn’t had consistent effectiveness to say the least. Okert is almost as much of a problem. Funderburk needs to get healthy so we can see if he is the best left-handed option in the pen. when I see what other team’s paid, I’m OK with the Twins not overpaying for mediocre players.
  11. I never knew there was anyone other than Debbie with that last name - Harry. This was a mini salary dump by the Jays. Otherwise, it’s pretty dull
  12. Sometimes it’s best to make no deal. No deal would have been better than the deals for Matt Capps and Jorge Lopez. Both were highly regarded before the Twins dealt for them. if it ain’t a lefty, I’ll take Dobber for nuttin’
  13. The Twins don’t have to give up anything to bring back the Dobber. A lefty reliever would be nice if the process right.
  14. My bad. I got my info from another source that must have been wrong.
  15. Don’t swing for the fences! The Astros just gave up their 2nd and 3rd prospects for Yusei Kikuchi. That is way too much. The Twins equivalent would be giving up Zebby Matthews and Emmanuel Rodriguez. No way we should be bidding that type of talent for mid to low rotation guys.
  16. The Tigers are not going to part with Skubal. He is the #1 starter that they will build a rotation around.
  17. As late as a month ago, I thought the Twins could stand pat and use internal options. However, it’s become clear that the Twins need left-handed pitching. A lefty starter would be nice, but one in the pen is essential. Maybe Okert and/ir Thielbar can be productive for the rest of this year, but MAYBE ain’t good enough. Funderburk is banged up. I don’t see any immediate help in the farm system. So, an addition via trade is necessary.
  18. One less lefty available. The Twins need effective left-handed pitching.
  19. If the Twins dump Funderburk, Thielbar and Okert, that completely obliterates the left-handed pitching. That is not a viable option. Even if the Twins pick up a lefty starter at the deadline, they need an option or two in the pen.
  20. Festa had a nice effort on Wednesday. But what else does Randy Dobnak have to do to prove he has earned a call up???
  21. Whorff takes another step. It’s exciting to know that the Twins have the first Klingon player in the history of pro ball. Make it so!
  22. This will be a tough series against the best team in MLB. The Twins have top players on IL, and the top relievers were used up against the Cheese- heads. Hope our injured players are back soon.
  23. The speech and appearances on MLB Network were much better than the old “ya-know” filled post-game interviews of the past. Looks like it was well-prepared, practiced and heart-felt. Good work Joe - great career.
