  1. Wow. I just saw it at the STRIB. The fanbase was just getting used to saying bye-bye (or “Don’t let the door hit you …”). The fire-sale and now this surprise will be too much for some. For the rest of us, we will have to view this as an ongoing soap opera. Maybe Bill Pohlad can turn it into a movie.
  2. Or since HBP stands for HIT By Pitch, one could argue Luke had a HIT during that game!
  3. All of you should be excited about Hello Kitty night? The ballpark should be packed tonight with an enthusiastic crowd of Kittians! it doesn’t get much better than this (that can be taken two ways).
  4. The crowd reaction could be interesting tonight. I expect Minnesota Nice. Yet, if the bullpen blows a lead, the crowd could turn fast.
  5. Recently, the Twins pitching staff has had no starters and one or two relievers who throw from the left. if piggybacking is going to be more effective, wouldn’t it be better to have much more left-right balance. This would upend the batting order plans by the opposing manager. If this piggybacking became a norm in MLB,, i expect managers would find their benches consistently depleted to adjust to more matchups. And these are not just right-left adjustments but also adjustments forplayers who are more and less successful against particular pitchers and types of pitchers. Would MLB ultimately have expand rosters to 30 players or higher to allow for these adjustments? Or is that just a slippery slope to seeing more at bats from the Mickey Gaspers and DeShawn Kierseys of baseball? Hmmmmm
  6. I guess I forgot Mickey Gaspar, who is a switch-hitter (but isn’t Super-Mario here as a utility infielder?). Whoop-dee-doooo
  7. In the words of previous The Naked Gun trilogy, trading Varland was THE FINAL INSULT. The Twins traded for another pitcher (maybe he pans out) and yet another left-handed hitting outfielder, Alan Roden. Current Outfielders, Larnach and Wallner already fit that left-handed hitting profile, as well as #1 prospect, Walker Jenkins. Top Fiver Emmanuel Rodriguez is hitting over .850 OPS in St Paul. When we hear the chorus sing O Come O Come Emmanuel (September call-up), we will see yet another left-handed hitting outfielder join the roster. OK - maybe one of those outfielders can learn to play first base. Some have suggested bringing back Kody Clemons to play in a platoon at 1B - BUT he hits from the left! Maybe Eddie Julien takes over at IB - BUT IS ALSO A LEFT-HANDED BAT. Is there some great off-season strategy here? Maybe there is a shortage in MLB of left-handed hitting Outfielders and First Basemen. Somebody smarter than me knows that answer. In the meantime, this roster is one Buxton injury away from an exclusively left-handed outfield.
  8. No Pre-game on Directv tonight. Are the Twins squelching a half hour of discussion in their moves this week? oops. I was wrong. No pregame for road games. I never watch the pregame anyways - But was eager to see one tonight.
  9. From the late 1940s until the turn of this century, softball pitcher Eddie Feigner barnstormed around the country (world?) with three other players (Catcher, 1B and SS). The Four Man Team called themselves The King and His Court. I saw them in the late 60s at Midway Stadium. Like the Harlem Globetrotters, they were entertainers who always won. Maybe the Twins could try a version of this for the rest of 2025, only they would always lose. It would be a big crowd pleaser on the road.
  10. This team didn’t need to be blown up. I wanted to sell Duran OR Jax, but the Twins need one of those two PLUS LOUIS VARLAND to build around. The rest of the moves are just fine with me. I like the selling, but it went too far.
  11. It compares. Compares poorly. Maybe the Twins can bring Ron Davis out of retirement.
  12. Sabato was the only thing I didn’t think about. I split a season ticket and will go to a few more games with blinders on.
  13. Any PROSPECTIVE owner is going to have a problem even with some PERSPECTIVE.
  14. They have no bullpen for this year or next. Cole Sands is the closer. This is bigger than the 1970s Calvin Griffith firesale (Hisle, Goltz …). I was onboard until Jax and Varland.
  15. Now. 2026 1B Clemons. Jenkins, Latnach, FA 2B. Keaschall. Keaschall SS. Lee. Lee 3B. Lewis. Lewis Ut. Julien, Gaspar ????? I expect better ideas than this.
  16. My first thought is that Castro is the one I would most like to see signed for next year.
  17. I predict he will just be the Outman Odd!
  18. To paraphrase C4, The Astros didn’t go shopping at Dior, but instead went shopping at Burlington Coat Factory (I was going to say TJ Max, but that was too high end).
  19. SI claims there is “minor snag” to Stewart trade, his med history.
  20. Reports on SI that there is a “minor snag” holding up this trade, and that would be Dodger’s concern about Stewart’s health.
  21. I know of one billionaire who cares a lot about others.
