    I don’t understand Minnesotans who decide NOT to go to see baseball in April because of the weather. Put on a jacket and it’s great weather for a ballgame. In the Spring, there is hope. By August, in many years, the Twins are out of the race. Yet, those fans somehow prefer to attend games in 85 degree weather with 80% humidity. They sit sweating next to their fellow perspiring fans. Even attending in the nude wouldn’t help. Meanwhile, many fans routinely leave by the 8th inning, guaranteeing that they will miss the most exciting comebacks. Why not just attend innings 3-9 if you only want to see 7 innings? And that’s my rant!!!

    If it doesn’t work this time, don’t give up. Patience is very important. But if he clicks immediately, it’s huge.

    Why not get the Dodgers into a bidding war for Jeffers with the Yankees? The Dodgers have left town with its top catcher (Will Smith) still injured “indefinitely” and rookie catcher Dalton Rushing reportedly being controversial (Shohei Ohtani apparently doesn’t like him and there have been numerous complaints from opponents that he is a “dirty player” with alleged attitude issues). Why not let the Dodgers dump its perceived “problem”, Rushing who just happens to have a 799 OPS and is just a rookie, for Jeffers? The Dodgers can add a good prospect, since they are the team with the “problem”! Catching prospects Diaw and Tait meanwhile are waiting in the wings at AA and High A for the Twins. Some of you might be wary of a catcher with an alleged “attitude problem.” But the Twins did well with one a few decades ago. Remember that guy - when he played for the other team you hated him, but when he played for your own team you hated him less (paraphrasing Ozzie Guillen). Indeed, Jeffers and Mitch Garver apparently didn’t get along. Moreover, with Rushing on the Twins, the team could also deal Caratini to another contender for another prospect (hopefully a future bullpen stud). Alex Jackson is still here as back-up with those prospects soon knocking on the door. With Victor Caratini gone, Dan Gladden would only have to mispronounce his name (CaraNtini) when his new team played the Twins.

    The big news is that the only Klingon in professional baseball, Jaret Whorff, was released by Wichita. Tell me the Twins didn’t “MAKE IT SO”. Sorry, only those familiar with the names of the Enterprise crew in Star Trek Next Generation get this schtick.

    Corey Lewis at one point had the nastiest pitch in the Twins system (knuckleball). It would be nice to see him continue with good results like last nite.

    At some point, SS will improve with Kaelen Culpepper and even more with Marek Houston. Maybe Walker Jenkins (or another young CF) can thrive in Center, allowing Buxton to be a plus defender at one of the corners. Otherwise, defense looks like a problem for more than just 2026

    Agreed. I’m more worried about the low overall number of high quality pitching prospects. Maybe the Twins add 2 or more at the deadline.

    It’s way too soon to give up on 2026. the difference between trading Clemons and st the trade deadline doesn’t justify giving up now.

    Marek Houston seems to be the stud SS in Cedar Rapids (over at Winokur) - or am I missing something?? Then again, after a few months of James OUTman, I’m encouraged that the Twins have a player named WINokur.

    Trade him and plan for 2028 and beyond. 2027 could be lost to a work stoppage anyways. By the way, is this the only time the word “stoppage” is used for a sport other than hockey, where it’s used all the time?

    Thanks for the article. The end of 2025 was so encouraging. The regression was more of a collapse this year. I trust the Twins on this one.

    Except Twins fans get the guy with a name that’s impossible to spell and pronounce. It took me almost a year to spell and pronounce Keaschall and it will take another year to figure out how to spell and pronounce reliever Gomez’s first name.

    Royce Lewis is disgruntled for the Twins. Somewhere out there in TD-land, someone is smarter than me in thinking how a Mlodzinski for Lewis trade could be accomplished. I would think the Pirates would have to add a prospect or player, since that pitcher’s last name is harder to pronounce and spell than Lewis.

    And it wasn’t like SWR was fueling much hope with his performance this year. this wasn’t an unjustified salary dump.

    I thought he had a chance in the bullpen. But his stats were awful this year and the Twins see him on off-days. I trust the team on this one and won’t be fretting over SWR. Another player gets a chance to prove himself.

    Good idea, but only if Royce Lewis can build on his good hitting over the last two games with the Saints.

    This may be a good time to explore signing Ryan Jeffers to a longterm contract. If not possible, make a trade. Byron Buxton should finish his career here. He is like Salvador Perez to the KC Royals (except for the World Series wins and likely HOF future induction). He is the guy to return at age 40 to induct into the Twins HOF and at age 50 and beyond to commemorate his career. Take reasonable offers on the rest of the list. Another potential trade nobody here discusses is Brooks Lee, if a very good offer is made. The Twins have depth at SS in the minor leagues.

    At this point, look at Orlando Arcia and ask why the Twins shouldn’t prefer him over (In order of being controversial): 1. Tristan Gray as Utility Infielder 2. Royce Lewis at 3B 3. Josh Bell at DH (maybe he can learn how to play 1B) 4. Cody Clemons at 1B (if he can learn 1B) 5. Luke Keaschall at 2B (moving Luke to utility infielder)

    After a nice two-hit night while carrying an OPS over .900, isn’t it about time to consider bringing Orlando Arcia back The Show.?

    Velocity? We don’t need no stinkin’ velocity. Now, SLO-Mo Ober needs to fully embrace this philosophy. Every two or three decades, an MLB pitcher brings back the ultimate slow-pitch, the EEPHUS PITCH. It’s well beyond Ober-due! Dave LaRoche had his La-Lob in the Eighties. In this era, of fireballers, the fans need the return of the EEPHUS. Bailey can bring it back and should call it the OBER-UNDER!

    Orlando Arcia is producing in St Paul. His OPS is well above .900. What else does he have to do to earn a call up?

    I share a season ticket. I’m still going to the games. When I go to the concession stands, I ask if the person working there is an employee or a volunteer. I do NOT tip the volunteers, who make money for unspecified charities. At least one has been a cult. I tip the working stiff, and will continue when they return from the strike.

    Note that many of the “workers” working at the concession stands are volunteers for undisclosed charities, making bucks for their charity. .

    Hurray. Joe said he wasn’t up front about an injury a few years ago and learned his lesson. This is big news. Now move SWT to bullpen, maybe put Zebby there too.
