  1. With Matt Wallner on a tear in AAA, why not give Max Kepler’s arm a rest on the IL? Matt Wallner has a gun for an arm that should play well in RF.
  2. If professional athletes were excluded based on their sexual choices, there would be a sizable minority excluded. Think of the many players with multiple children from multiple women. After the games, many players on road teams often hang out in “Gentlemen”s Clubs”. This is a time when sexual preference is not supposed to bar one from employment - even those that appear to most of us as kinkier.
  3. In April, Bauer’s accuser was indicted on charges that she defrauded him. Meanwhile, he has had two good years in Japan and just set the Mexican League Strike-out record. Houston has apparently shown some interest in signing him.
  4. Jorge Polanco is coming off of Seattle’s IL. He is batting .195 on the year so far. Sub-.600 OPS. Looks like the Twins broke their ties with Polo just in time. I remember, several years ago, going to see Buxton in Cedar Rapids and coming home extremely impressed with Polanco. It’s a tough biz.
  5. It ain’t happening for Royce. Too few games played and too many spots will be taken by unworthy players voted in by the fans. The vote for starters should be a compilation of 50% fans vote, 25% players vote and 50% sports writers vote. That should reduce the number of unworthy but “popular” players starting. The fans voting will reduce the exclusion of blackballed but worthy players that are either unliked by players (personality or other issues) or by writers (who don’t like the good players who won’t give interviews).
  6. Another fact: More time has been spent devoted to chronicling the tenure of Willie Mays with the Minneapolis Millers than Willie Mays spent playing for the Minneapolis Millers. True, but I won’t fault you.
  7. OK - I don’t like the bandana on the head. I’ll put up with the excessive eye-black (I’ll even give you Auston Martin’s excessive eye black too). Just have Royce dump the bandana. If it wasn’t for the bandana, I’d buy into Royce-mania.
  8. Willie Mays was much better than Twins Pitcher Joe Mays!
  9. Best thing to do when Deduno was on the team: Chant “Day-Doo-Noe” in response to the stupid canned Dayo cheer. Again - can somebody specifically explain the Dsyo cheer. What specifically are we cheering for or against?
  10. Ooops. Thanks for the correction of my faulty correction. Now I remember. The legend obliterated the truth.
  11. That was then, this is now. Maybe the Twins if the Twins add a player at the deadline, they look to a batter on a team that hammered Pablo. Maybe that batter can tell us what he was told about Pablo. Maybe he’s tipping his pitches.
  12. Mays actually won two World Series: 1951 (He was in the on-deck circle when Bobby Thomson hit the “Shot Heard Round the World” to win the Series) AND the 1954 Series which the Giants swept and in which Mays made “The Catch”!!! Both series finished before I was born, I didn’t start paying attention to baseball until 1961 (barely) but became a fanatic long before the Twins appearance in the 1965 World Series.
  13. Mine is only the third comment for the greatest player of the last 70 years. I posted a comparison to Twins HOFers on the regular Twins thread. Rip me if you think it’s just a ploy to get more views for Willie. I plea Guilty.
  14. I posted a comparison to Twins HOFers on a Twins thread. Maybe it’s just an excuse to get more views of today’s Twins fans on the remarkable career of the greatest baseball player of my long lifetime. So rip me - I can take it.
  15. I’m sure some of you are having an “OK Boomer” moment as you watch the accolades given to Willie Mays (who died yesterday). Really, you watch “The Catch” and you will say that you see the equivalent on Sportscenter ten times every season, right? Wrong - Mays combined all five tools with longevity like nobody before or since. By the time I started paying attention to baseball in the sixties, Mays had played over a decade of his phenomenal style five tool baseball and he was still the best player in the game. In 1971, at age 40, he had an OPS of .907. Willie Mays excelled at all five tools with longevity. Comparing Mays to the greatest Twins: Killebrew: Didn’t have the speed Puckett and Oliva: Didn’t have the longevity Mauer and Carew: Didn’t have the power Mays was the Michael Jordan of Baseball in his day - and that should be “OK” with the rest of you, even if I am a “Boomer”.
  16. There is a former Cy Young Award winner out there. His stats this year in Mexico and last two years in Japan were excellent. The Astros are apparently interested in signing. him. His accuser in the USA has now been indicted for trying to defraud the pitcher. He was reportedly a clubhouse pariah before being basically blacklisted by MLB. But he’s out there - Trevor Bauer. At 33, he’s more likely to behave himself.
  17. Hopefully, they bring back Wallner. He has performed well in St Paul and has earned the call-up.
  18. The Twins at this time need to protect Jair Cammargo and any other catcher with a pulse. There is a lack of available depth at this position. Christian Vasquez is not producing and an injury to Ryan Jeffers would put the team in a bad position.
  19. Nope - The idea isn’t NICE, the idea is NIKE. Sell more stuff, that’s all.
  20. It’s called City Connect, but the logo is for our State - MN. Count me in the detractor camp.
  21. Make peace with Doug Mientkiewicz and bring him in to manage this team. He can kick some butts.
  22. Joe Ryan had another good start yesterday against the Pirates. He is deserving. Jeffers should probably go too. That’s it realistically.
