  1. If Dobber does get called back, he better not get released at Target Field. There want be any Uber job to fall back on in Minneapolis.
  2. If the Dobber makes it back to MLB, he’s a Mr. Everyman type we all cheer for, like Caleb Thielbar making it back after dropping down to the independent leagues or Jay Jackson making his first opening day roster at age 36. These stories are much more fun than reading about Bobby Witt Jr. getting gazillions over the next 11 years.
  3. Vasquez came up big today. In other words: Chris(tian) Slapped that Rock thrown by Will Smith without making any comments about a sequel to “G.I. Jane.” And count me in the “impressed” group on his throw nabbing Witt Jr.
  4. Add Josh Staumont as the latest injured Twin to leave the Incredible Shrinking Bullpen.
  5. Thielbar and Duran are down already. Now, mlb.com’s Twins page is reporting that Justin Topa is going to start the season on the IL with left knee tendonitis. The bullpen bad news keeps piling on.
  6. Who is our depth? You ask! Randy Dobnak 2.0. Josh Winder is still around. SWR will be at AAA. David Festa is probably ready after a few months at AAA. None of that may wow you, but there is some depth.
  7. Didn’t Comedian Rob Schneider talk about this Doc a lot back in his days as the Copy Machine Guy on SNL?
  8. Did I miss AK on your list? If I didn’t, where will he be?
  9. That’s the idea - Doug Mientkiewicz, someone with an edge. No more Mr Nice Guys. A.J. already has a gig. But the Twins know who had an edge in the locker room during the last 20 years. That’s the type of guy I want in the booth. Hey, Josh Donaldson just retired - it wouldn’t be boring to put the Bringer of Rain into the booth. Maybe Sergio Romo could put a little of the fire he had while playing into the booth.
  10. Kirby was my favorite Twins player of all-time, and I’ve watched them since 1961 (at age of 6). There were other greats (most notably for me Killebrew, Oliva, and Carew) but none are the most important cog in the machinery that brought two World Series Championships to Minnesota. Continue to RIP - Kirby Puckett!!!
  11. I want Denard Span’s mom to join the TV crew with him for one game, and rip her son for the foul ball that hit her in the stands. Could be a fun bit!!
  12. The Twins actually played a game of Quiddich and were embarrassed by Valdemort. The OP misspelled the name of the Dark Lord.
  13. We hear CC has a surgically repaired ankle - but which ankle? We heard last year that CC had plantar fasciitis - but was it both feet, or one foot and if it was one foot - WHICH ONE? If someone here knows, that information could he helpful in determining whether he has a chronic problem with one foot or just two unrelated injuries.
  14. Rebecca Grossman was convicted by a Los Angeles jury of killing two boys while driving drunk. The jury didn’t buy her defense argued by her attorneys that former Twins 1991 Pitcher Scott Erickson was the actual driver to blame for the deaths. Apparently, he had met her for drinks earlier.and drove in a separate car. Scott Erickson did not testify. Maybe I missed this story earlier - but I was unaware of the Twins connection till the news story was posted today. Reckless Driving charges against Erickson (alleging he was racing Grossman) were already dismissed in return for his recording a public service announcement on safe driving. There are some other facts alleged against Scott Erickson that I will not recount here. I have too many good memories of his pitching during the 1991 World Series season. .
  15. As I get older, the definition of “young” gets older. A moving target.
  16. Nice article. Based on the past, I don’t think we should count on Brock being a big bullpen workhorse. However, your info is encouraging and points to him making a significant contribution every third day or so. .
  17. Morris was well into his 60s and Kaat in his 80s when they made it into the HOF. Johan is on the bubble for later induction like Kaat. However, I remember being excited going to the ballpark every time I knew Johan was starting. I can’t remember feeling that way for any other Twins pitcher as frequently. Does that make him the best Twins pitcher ever? It depends on how one values longevity and World Series dramatics.
  18. What happened to the good, old-fashioned idea that the last spot(s) are filled based on the competition that started yesterday in Ft. Myers? Just asking’.
  19. Is it looking like he starts the season st Cedar Rapids? If so, I may plan a trip to see him play.
  20. I’m willing to predict that in 2024 there will be one Twins pitcher (not named Pablo Lopez) who will have better stats than Sonny Gray’s stats this year. I suspect nobody here in their right mind (surprisingly the vast majority of us) would take that bet.
  21. I would have made some minor adjustments shuffling one team a little higher, another lower. But there was no question the 1991 was the Twins’ greatest season. - so much that it must be its greatest team. Good work on all of these articles.
  22. But the article here says the goal is 80 games in CF. Based on the past, that sounds like a ceiling not a floor.
  23. Former Vikings Coach Bud Grant (RIP) noted the importance of both ABILITY and DURABILITY. Buxton won’t have any chance to be HOF caliber unless he can have both. Meanwhile, the clock is ticking.
