  1. Upon further research, there is no reason to to give picks 19 & 20 more than $150,000 signing bonus, the max allowed to not count against the bonus pool. So those of you thinking the team is willing to pay millions of $$$ for these 2 picks and that will drop the amount offered to Jenkins should report to medical immediately with your sample cup. The Twins have $7.3 MM left in their bonus pool, that is slot value for the #5 pick this year. If there are medical concerns (not a first for a Boras client) and the team is trying to offer less that is one thing, but if Boras is trying to negotiate more for his client because he believes he should have went higher, that is another. He was selected 5th and the team selecting him has the amount pegged for that position left in their bonus pool, he should sign. If he is using UNC as a bargaining chip, that is a big gamble ($7 MM big). He could get hurt, he could have a bad college career, he could fall further down the draft board because of another loaded draft or other factors.
  2. Correa makes up for his poor offensive showing with the game winner...
  3. Balazovic with a very nice high leverage appearance (Seattle's 2-6 batters in a 1 run game).
  4. And running hard right out of the box instead of admiring it hit off the wall.
  5. If they are willing to pay slot value then it is no longer on the FO, $6-7 MM is ALOT of $$$.
  6. He had runners on ahead of him that were waiting to see if a catch was made, if he passes 1 of them its an out.
  7. His arm strength his comparable to Farmer and Miranda, and better than Solano.
  8. It was actually nice to see the team jumping on those first pitch fastballs instead of taking strike 1. 12 pitches in and they were up 5-1.
  9. Agreed, Maeda has a 2.73 ERA (2.56 FIP) and a slash line against of .198/.265/.308 (.572 OPS) in addition to averaging 5+ innings per start since returning from the IL.
  10. Evidently sarcasm is not one of your strong points, so I will just play it straight from here on out. - I do not think that the Twins will trade Ryan, he is not an "Ace" but he is slots in very nicely as the teams 2 or 3. - I do not think the team will fall out of contention in 11 days, but they are not showing the ability to separate from pack in a very mediocre division. - I fully agree that Paddack will be a part of the 2024 rotation (probably 2023 also, or at least BP), but he is coming off of his second TJ surgery and it is unknown what he contribute. SWR, Varland or a FA signing could fill out the rotation. - I believe Gray and Maeda would both accept QO if tendered, otherwise both could wind up sitting deep into the off-season or go unsigned. The team may be able to sign one to a FA contract, but I don't think it would be for more than about 3/$36-$39 MM. Contradictory statement I know, but any of these is a possibility with these two. - I prefer my little slice of heaven up in NW MN, but would be willing to come look...
  11. I believe 1 won't happen, and I hope 1 won't happen....
  12. 11 days until the trade deadline, some team is one little hot-streak from being in contention or one starting pitcher injury away from falling out of contention - there is and will be a market for him. I believe the team would have to be absolutely blown away by the offer to move him, and would also had to have fallen out of contention.
  13. He doesn't actually say they should trade him, he just points out that he is an obvious target for other teams. He is in the prime of his career, he has a team-friendly salary, and his actual and predictive stats are good. Also, only he, Ober and P. Lopez are guarantees for next season's rotation. Two open spots will be hard enough to fill. Let's lighten up in here a bit guys!!
  14. The current rock-handed second baseman is better than the traded rock-handed second baseman...I said what I said!!
  15. He was asking about the Murphy HR...it was a HR in 29 of 30 MLB parks, only Arizona's was it not.
  16. Well, it wouldn't have been a HR in Arizona....so yes!!
  17. And he has 62 pitches through 3, silly trade off but sometimes that's what's needed...
  18. We all wanted Wallner, he's not quite ready for Prime Time it would seem...
