  1. I believe he is referring to 7-28-23. Duran went Manfred man at 2B, K, (SB), BB, (SB), BB and WO GS by Witt Jr. This was also referenced by Rosenthal during the game and several TD posters on the game thread.
  2. As I stated in the game thread, let's hope this isn't 2022 all over, where injuries and bad BP performance caught up to the team and couldn't be overcome in September.
  3. About time the team has a closed door meeting!! Maybe some things can get straightened out...
  4. BOS has 29 comeback wins and 34 blown lead losses and are 5-4 in walk-offs. Cora has a record of 511-440 (.537) and has been to the play-offs 2 times (but has a WS). He also had to sit out 2020 for his part in the Astros sign stealing scandal. Cora also gets a $200 MM pay roll to work with every year. MIN has 35 comeback wins and 29 blown lead losses and are 5-5 in walk-offs. Baldelli has a record of 451-398 (.531) and has been to the play-offs 3 times (finally broke the losing streak). Not defending Baldelli, just showing the numbers that are out there. I also do not think that Cora is one of the best managers in baseball.
  5. Lewis is 2-4 with a go-ahead HR and BB while actually playing 2B.... He has been at DH his last 3 games and has gone 0-11 with 4 K's... SSS nitpicking I know, but so is the quoted statement.
  6. Ober was better than any other option tonight. He was cruising, 83 stress-free pitches and the last 15 in a row. The coaching staff over-thought it and cost them the games. Agreed. All the more reason to let Ober try and finish it, or at least the 8th.
  7. 2022 all over again? Injuries and bad BP too much to overcome a September swoon?
  8. But Duran IS the closer, that is his job. Way to build confidence, tell the closer he's not good enough. Or, maybe Ober should have pitched the 8th and Jax the 9th.
  9. Rocco pulls Ober and inserts Duran:
  10. And bad Duran makes an appearance....
  11. Agree, Ober should at least be allowed to start the 8th...
  12. No Castro today, Kiersey makes his first MLB start...
  13. I'd agree that he possibly has a future at 1B as neither his glove nor his range is his problem, his arm is. He's 6'2" and hits with power. Miranda, while not great, seems to play better at 3B than at 1B. Concentrating on one position in the off-season may help him get better, it can't hurt. Give Lewis the winter to learn the position and I think he'll be fine.
  14. Leave it Reusse to under-react...
  15. The team already announced Varland is a BP arm for the rest of the season.
  16. How dare the Royals get hits with 2-outs....
  17. It's fine with me. I think they're on Fox tomorrow, but I could be wrong...
  18. I'll give you Taylor, but Margot showed immediately that he was not a good option in CF. Which left us with Martin and Castro.... When Buxton went on the IL Kiersey should have been called up, at least the defense would not have suffered.
  19. The team kept putting him out there despite the fact that he was over matched and not ready. So much so that he started making mistakes in the field, which supposedly was his strong suit. I understand it was out of necessity, which just shows that the team still hasn't learned that it needs a legitimate option behind Buxton. Maybe they didn't wreck him, maybe he just isn't MLB caliber.
  20. If Lewis did not go into a prolonged slump he would have a little more leverage to stake a claim to one position, but he did slump and Miranda got hot. Miranda and Lee are better defensive options at 3B right now, but Lee should be at SS over Castro everyday. Julien is hitting better lately, but his defense is as bad or worse than Lewis'. 4 guys for 3 spots (Castro should be in CF until Buxton is back). Miranda does not play 2B and Lee, the best with the glove of the 4, should be at SS everyday. So the rotation is between 2B, 3B and DH among Lewis, Julien (who doesn't play against LHP) and Miranda (who will also get a day or 2 at 1B). Since nobody wants Farmer playing, Lewis has to agree to play 2B some days, period. Or he sits.
  21. Not a good look for the young "superstar" (as he is called by some on here)... https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/royce-lewis-is-pretty-much-refusing-to-play-2nd-base-for-the-minnesota-twins/ar-AA1pVzLS
  22. I think he's more concerned about somebody getting seriously hurt, or worse, more than retaliation, but he's not wrong. As he said, he's out of the game but the pitcher gets to stay in the game. And the pitcher's teammates don't even have to worry about retaliation. How about a new rule removing the pitcher from the game if the batter he hits has to be removed?
