    If the AL West stays close until the final weekend, none of the teams will get a chance to rest players and set their post-season rotations. Same for the AL East. Best part of the 2023 post-season (so far) - no Yankees!!

    The Dodgers had some very good rotations during Maeda's time there and he was always #4 or #5 in their rotation. If the team gets past the WC round, lets worry who starts Game 4 of the Divisional Series if it gets that far.

    Correa has reached base in 18 straight games. He has a slash line of .258/.382/.500 with 4 HR and 12 RBI during this streak. Yes he hits into a lot of DP's, but so did Killebrew, Puckett & Hrbek, amongst others.

    Unless Ober gets a "reset" stint on the IL, I think Ryan moves into the playoff rotation, Ober has looked more than shaky lately and Ryan looked good on Saturday. I have not projected starts to the end of the season so I don't know who might wind up where, but if the team can clinch early enough, they can start aligning the rotation. Right now 1-5 looks like Maeda, Lopez, Gray, Ryan, and Ober. Unless Maeda is #5 right now, then he is going to have start being moved up to #3.

    Atlanta is on pace to tie the 2019 Twins HR, has the NL HR leader, has 5 players on pace to hit 30+ HR, 7 players already over 20 HR, and at least 10 players on pace for double digits. Even if they do not break the record, I think this is more impressive than the "live ball" record set by our hometown 9. Especially so since Atlanta also looks to be the WS favorite.

    You can click on the "Illustrator" tab right above the box with the score. Then, at the top of the page click on "Chart Options." A box will pop up with different choices, click on "Pitch Result." You can then check out pitch location for every result. If you click on various other options you can see results for all batters, LH batters, RH batters, etc...

    The Twins bought out Lopez's last year of arbitration, age 28, at a very reasonable number, and Lopez got a very nice 3 year FA contract. Lopez then gets to hit FA at age 31, though he turns 32 during spring training.

    Ryan will be 31 when he hits FA and Ober 32, I don't think the team needs to worry about locking them up long term as their best years will be covered by arbitration.

    The Wallner pitch was a strike, the Julien pitch was not. And Lopez got a low, borderline strike call in the 3rd. Baseball Savant agrees with the assessment that the home plate is very inconsistent tonight however.

    It went wrong the moment the team decided to use a 29 year old, streaky, injury prone player as a full-time DH, a position this team should be rotating guys through as a way to keep a hot bat in the line-up instead of on the bench.

    Just as a hitter FanGraphs has him at 6.3 fWAR, which is worth $50.2 MM. As a pitcher FanGraphs has him at 2.3 fWAR, which is worth $18.7 MM. If he can't pitch moving forward but learns a position such as 1B, that batting value goes up. As a pitcher/DH, he is worth a $500 MM contract. As a DH/possible 1B, he easily worth $350 - $400 MM.
