  1. Rocco pulls Ober and inserts Duran:
  2. And bad Duran makes an appearance....
  3. Agree, Ober should at least be allowed to start the 8th...
  4. No Castro today, Kiersey makes his first MLB start...
  5. I'd agree that he possibly has a future at 1B as neither his glove nor his range is his problem, his arm is. He's 6'2" and hits with power. Miranda, while not great, seems to play better at 3B than at 1B. Concentrating on one position in the off-season may help him get better, it can't hurt. Give Lewis the winter to learn the position and I think he'll be fine.
  6. Leave it Reusse to under-react...
  7. The team already announced Varland is a BP arm for the rest of the season.
  8. How dare the Royals get hits with 2-outs....
  9. It's fine with me. I think they're on Fox tomorrow, but I could be wrong...
  10. I'll give you Taylor, but Margot showed immediately that he was not a good option in CF. Which left us with Martin and Castro.... When Buxton went on the IL Kiersey should have been called up, at least the defense would not have suffered.
  11. The team kept putting him out there despite the fact that he was over matched and not ready. So much so that he started making mistakes in the field, which supposedly was his strong suit. I understand it was out of necessity, which just shows that the team still hasn't learned that it needs a legitimate option behind Buxton. Maybe they didn't wreck him, maybe he just isn't MLB caliber.
  12. If Lewis did not go into a prolonged slump he would have a little more leverage to stake a claim to one position, but he did slump and Miranda got hot. Miranda and Lee are better defensive options at 3B right now, but Lee should be at SS over Castro everyday. Julien is hitting better lately, but his defense is as bad or worse than Lewis'. 4 guys for 3 spots (Castro should be in CF until Buxton is back). Miranda does not play 2B and Lee, the best with the glove of the 4, should be at SS everyday. So the rotation is between 2B, 3B and DH among Lewis, Julien (who doesn't play against LHP) and Miranda (who will also get a day or 2 at 1B). Since nobody wants Farmer playing, Lewis has to agree to play 2B some days, period. Or he sits.
  13. Not a good look for the young "superstar" (as he is called by some on here)... https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/royce-lewis-is-pretty-much-refusing-to-play-2nd-base-for-the-minnesota-twins/ar-AA1pVzLS
  14. I think he's more concerned about somebody getting seriously hurt, or worse, more than retaliation, but he's not wrong. As he said, he's out of the game but the pitcher gets to stay in the game. And the pitcher's teammates don't even have to worry about retaliation. How about a new rule removing the pitcher from the game if the batter he hits has to be removed?
  15. Accountability in today's game is non-existent. The team is in a play-off race and Lewis gets called out on strikes because he didn't get back in the box on time. The team has been struggling lately, every out, every AB/PA, every run counts. It was totally unacceptable, but he's "one of the best players" so let's just look the other way?? I call BS!! It's not going to happen so it doesn't matter.
  16. Accountability needs to be established and enforced. Lewis should have been pulled from the game after the pitch clock strikeout and should be benched tomorrow.
  17. If Buxton is out, call him up. Just don't wreck him like they did Celestino...
  18. Watkins has gotten enough runners thrown out at home, don't go giving him any ideas...😉
  19. A good read.... https://nypost.com/2024/09/04/sports/braves-whit-merrifield-livid-over-being-hit-with-pitches-its-bulls-t/
  20. Evidently Varland is not the answer.... Losing 3 of 4 to Tampa (hasn't happened yet, but is possible) should not happen, even short handed. This team is not poised to take the next step with the current leadership. I'm not a fire the manager and FO type, but this team was not constructed to get performance out of the biggest, and most likely to be injured positions (SS & CF). The BP is overused and becoming ineffective, and the team refused to acknowledge these weaknesses. What is it called when you keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect different results....
  21. Last 7 games (SSS) with RISP - 13-54 .241 BA: 2-10, .200 BA last night 2-14, .143 BA against TOR 9-30, .300 BA against ATL Season average with RISP is .243, over the last 7 games the team is right there, but breaking down SSS shows that they go through extreme peaks and valleys to get there. Remove the first two games against ATL, the team is 6-32, .187 BA with RISP over their last 5 games, not even close to their full-season BA with RISP of .243. If you add the 4-15 in game 2 against ATL, the team is still 10-47, .212 BA with RISP in its last 6 games. Still not a .243 BA, so the 3-7 in game one against ATL helped the overall numbers. Extreme peaks and valleys. Regression to the norm, especially if there are prolonged slumps, includes some 3-7, 3-10, 4-10 and even 5-10 games.
  22. The 10 hits tonight was nice, but going 2-10 with RISP, not advancing runners and 2-out hitting all need improvement. The pitching did hold the Rays to 1-9 with RISP, SWR managed to wriggle out of enough trouble to keep it close.
