  1. +3 pitchers made the All-Star team, led by Freddie Garcia
  2. I think payroll not being added this past off-season despite the team being in a "contending window" speaks volumes as to when the Pohlad's decided/considered putting the team up for sale. As for Correa's future, I think it is in Minnesota, at least until after this upcoming season, due to the fact that none of Julien, Lee, Lewis, Miranda, et al have stepped forward and established themselves as being an every day IF option at this point.
  3. You mentioned Stanton's heads up baserunning, then Chisholm and Rizzo had baserunning blunders last night, which makes me think that proper baserunning may be a MLB-wide problem. Too much looking for 3 true outcomes, not enough work on fundamentals...
  4. But the Yankees look very Minnesota-esque on the basepaths that inning....
  5. Cleveland looked very Minnesota-esque that inning against Cole....
  6. Probably should follow his own advice...
  7. Rocco will be here all season next year, the only difference is that the FO will wait until AFTER the season to determine if they want to extend him...
  8. Probably Castro and Martin...the more things change, the more they stay the same.
  9. What's going on here? Wheeler faces the line-up for the 3rd time? Doesn't he know that's not allowed? Seriously though, AJ said that the Phillies starters have the MLB's best OPS 3rd time through the line-up. A little confidence from the manager must go a long way...

  11. Maybe the question should be posed as such: do you want AK hurting the team for 162 games (as a Twin) or 7 games (as an opponent, 13 if he signs within the division)? Maybe he's recovered enough to play a full season, probably not. However, his status directly affects the teams off-season plans at multiple positions. Miranda is the only returning 1B, but Julien (let's hope not) has been mentioned as an option there. In the OF, Wallner and Larnach have emerged as the corner favorites, with no real other internal options, though Kiersey is a possibility despite the team not giving him any opportunities this season. A decision needs to be made early in the off-season so the team can fill out the roster accordingly, no dragging it out until March.
  12. Well, the team does swing at a lot of breaking pitches off the plate.....
  13. Tigers and Royals advance. 3 of 4 teams in the Divisional Series are from the Central....still the weakest Division in MLB??
  14. Baseball Reference has him listed as Pre-arb, FanGraphs has him listed as Arb1. Not sure which is correct.
  15. "Talent is one thing. Being able to go from spring to October is another." - George "Sparky" Anderson
  16. He's been doing a pretty good (bad?) job of making sure he isn't left on base recently.... It's been so bad it is kind of comical, and he's still killing potential rallies...
  17. Hate it or not, tonight's error by Farmer was his 2nd of the season...
  18. Lee was injured to start the season and has 282 PA at AAA, he was rushed due to the injuries and ineffectiveness - who else is getting called up when Correa, Lewis, Miranda, Julien, Farmer, et al are injured and/or not performing, Keaschal was also injured/not available. Maybe an injury free off-season will allow him to work on things.
  19. Like him or hate him, on the radio Gladden stated that with the infield back, as it was, the third base coach is supposed to let the runner know to wait for ball to get past the pitcher before breaking for home. This is how the team has always done it (it's also how I learned and how I coached it). No "contact play" when the IF is playing back (conceding the run). So who failed to do their job, Watkins or Martin? Probably both.
  20. Things a major league baseball player should know how to do: Catch the ball (Jeffers), run the bases (Martin out at HP on a comebacker, Santana doubled-off 2B on a bunt attempt), bunt a baseball (Jeffers), hit a fly ball when needed (Lewis in the 11th, also swung at 2 pitches badly out of the zone in this PA); things learned in Little League. This was just last night. This also does not touch on a whole season of sending/holding runners at 3B (Watkins), leaving pitchers in too long/removing them too early (Baldelli) or basically not having a feel for how the game is going that night/day. This team is fundamentally poor in all facets of the game (not just relying on the three true outcomes). 3 run HR's might get you Manager of the Year one year, but you actually have to manage (and your team has to execute) when you don't get them. (By the way Baldelli's Twins are 356-349 since the Bomba season of 2019)
  21. '09 Twins calling current team a bunch of p**sies, except for the '09 player in the broadcast booth....
